This is the ONE. It really is, believe me. I have had a lot of perfumes (+100) designer, niche, cheap, rare and every kind of perfumes but this one have "something different". I don't want to say pheromones but ladies at my work always ALWAYS tell me they love how I smell. Clean, sexy, masculine, mysterious, different. Awesome. A brilliant f4cking underrated masterpiece from the 90's
Platinum Egoiste is one of those fragrances that will always have to be in my collection. For people newer to the community the bottle may put them off because of its simplistic packaging. I love that haha. I’ve actually never smelled anyone wearing this aside form myself. Great review Aaron.
Bleu Parfum you have a 10. Platinum Egoiste a 10 and Edition Blanche a 9. You know you’re dealing with a fantastic fragrance house with those scores from Aaron.
The nostalgia with this fragrance is off the scale for me. When I was in my early twenties and enjoying the club scene Notorious BIG released a song called "Nasty Girl" and one of the lyrics is "Platinum chanel cologe...ing, I stay... dressed to impress, spark this b*tches interest" and it was the biggest song at the time. I remember thinking what "aftershave" (thats what I called it then) is he talking about so I bought it and have forever loved it. This will never leave my collection.
Hey Jay Was that a biggie smalls song I’m curious because I think I just heard that song for the first time four days ago. Lol Either way this was my favorite dress up nighttime cologne or for any kind of work parties. My girlfriend another time and all of her friends loved it. That’s when I was in my early 20s as well.
After watching a lot of reviews over the weeks I always come back to you Aaron because you just share your opinion about perfumes so uniquely and interesting. Always so much background information that you learn to love and understand those fragrances on another level.
A true MASTERPIECE in men's fragrance! One of those fragrances that changed the game. Released in 1993, Notorious BIG's signature scent when he first started making money and shopping for luxury. Still smells good even after reformulation. The base of Egoiste is the base for Bleu de Chanel. Best clone is 'Hugo Boss - Green' for only $20 bucks!
This used to be my go to scent during the late nineties early 2000s. At the time it was a unique smell that ladies and men loved. Thanks for the throwback memories x❤️
This is one of the most important perfumes in my collection. It was my first serious perfume. I received my first bottle in 1995 on my 21st birthday and I still have roughly 20ml left. I use it only on special occasions. I have gone through a couple more bottles over the years. It was in fact, my wedding scent too. It was my signature scent until 1998 when my wife decided I needed to broaden my horizons 🤣 And that was truly the beginning of my love of perfumes 😁 I'm glad you enjoy it too Aaron ☺️ My original bottle does last a good 6-8 hrs.... Newer bottles are not as long lasting but maintain the scent profile IMO 🙂
I have been wearing this fragrance for years. 3/4 through my 3rd bottle. Not strong a projection, but the fragrance clings to my skin for 6+ hours. Definitely a reapply through out the day option. I receive lots of compliments with this one. Great review, as always, Aaron.
used to get stopped in packed clubs by people asking what I was wearing. projection and longevity was truely beastmode. Scent would remain on your clothes 24hrs. it was truely unrivaled in the 90s to early 2000s. No suprise Biggie mentioned it in a song.
@@scent_jeannie it happens to every fragrance. It's nothing new. Gotta respect it and continue to use it. No sense letting fragrances be put to a stop because people don't like the change.
Amazing video as well, I love how detailed the description is, how each element is taken in consideration. I implore you, do a review of the new Tom Ford fragrance, Ébène Fumé. Thank you for your content!
We got a “love” and a 10!!! This is a keeper for me, too. If you love this, get your nose on Nishane B-612. I wear Egoiste and B-612 quite often…both in the same family. Great video, Aaron!
Brilliant! I love Platinum Egoiste and feel it's very underrated in the community. Especially with some people saying it makes you smell like Euro trash and I roll my eyes at those comments. If you can get your hands on the OG Egoiste Cologne Concentree that one is a treat. If I remember correctly, it has Mysore sandalwood in it. The modern EDT of the OG Egoiste is still nice, but nothing compared to the concentree. Glad you enjoyed this one!
I love this too! A classic 90's barbershop aromatic fougere made modern with massive ammounts of hedione and geraniol. You should also try the original Égoïste it's even better.
I love this one also. I read a comment somewhere saying that this fragrance is beautiful at any time but becomes absolutely spiritual in the heat. I completely agree, having worn it for a while now. Lines up to buy a coffee a few weeks back and everyone in the line (6 or more people) gave me massive compliments... rather embarrassed :D I couple of extra sprays on skin and clothes makes the longevity go to 6+hrs for me. Thanks Aaron, I love your reviews even if I rarely disagree I always learn something.
Aaron, you are AMAZING!!!! I can watch your videos all day long. Your video reviews have a professionalism that NOBODY else can match. You have NO PEERS in the fragrance community.
Aaron - thank you for uploading this one! I picked this up not too long ago because I wanted something masculine but timeless for the office, and in all honesty, to throw on after a fresh haircut and shave. LOVE IT! Classic masculine men's Chanel fragrance. You mentioned wishing there was more base to it... would you recommend using something like Escentric Molecules as a base layer then? If so, which would you recommend? I have Cashmeran (Mol. 5) but would love to hear your take on it as someone with much more experience than myself in the fragrance community.
Aaron I tried this cologne at a local perfumery 5 years ago and wasn't fond of it so I bought Bleu de Chanel which was a safe purchase, but after watching this review and your enthusiasm I will have to revisit this cologne once again and perhaps my nose will have matured enough for a purchase.Really enjoy your intelligent reviews and the science behind them
This is one of best fragrances from Chanel. I want to try this one. I have the original Egoiste..... good review Governor. Have great day and fulljoy yourself 🌠🌟💯
Bro, I’ve seen you review over the years and never paid attention and just this year I have been hearing about your fragrance and never knew it was you. Definitely checking them out now.
Thank you Aaron for your review... Got to agree with the way you explained, the feeling is mutual.... one that can fall under the radar due to new fragrances always coming out pushing a classical midway oldie behind!.... one that is stuck in the middle between past and present. I love this perfume and have this. Longevity is great!
I wear this often. I agree, the other Chanel mens fragrances have little longevity and are a bit samey. Really love your incredible reviews. Thank you.
You should make a fragrance inspired off of this one. You mentioned at the end you wouldn’t mind seeing a few things. Make a Parfum inspired version of this! I would forsure buy.
I hope they release an elixir version of this frag… much needed 4 sure! This is a hidden gem from the time when fragrances were actually and virtually an indispensable extension of your personality into the world around you… good old times back…
This is my fav chanel. Normally I'm into dark, heavy or sweet fragrances, but this one just does it for me. It smells sophisticated but effortless at the same time.
I really love how describe a fragrance. It makes the fragrance seem alive as if I can see what you are describing. I really appreciate your viewpoint and reviews,.
This is my dad‘s favorite fragrance, i have a bottle but rarely ever wear it, only on special occasions. Absolutely stunning scent that is the one fragrance i would keep if i had to choose only one.
Yes!!! Just started obsessing over fragrances 2 years ago, up to about 100 bottles, as soon as I smelled this I loved it and went out and bought my father a bottle.
Hello Aaron great vid! Would you be willing to make videos on basic perfumery? I've been dabbling in making fragrances but one of the places where I'm stuck is what materials to use when it comes to naturals and when to use synthetics. Especially since naturals are very expensive it gets a bit pricey 😆. Thanks again!
Could you do Xerjoff Nio in the future? It's a cult classic bergamot neroli, with great longevity and superb ingredient quality. Probably THE citrus for many citrus lovers
Aaron congrats on the amazing work, you're the most professional and most authentic fragrance channel of all. Fell in love with your reviews, even for fragrances I'll never buy. Just a question: Between Platinum Egoiste and Tom Ford's Beau de Jour, which one do you prefer and why? thanks in advance. Best Regards
Good review. I wear this one to work. I like the unique feel of this Chanel as no one else at work wears it. I get wafts of it throughout the day…wasn’t expecting this from an EDT. I think it’s an elegant alternative to the more popular fragrances.
I LOVE Platinum Egoiste! Perfect barbershop frag. Between this, Beau de Jour, at the barbers, and 212 you are completely covered for Aromatic Fougeres.
I had this in the late 90’s and early 2000’s and two, TWO, sprays was enough. My laundry always smelled like it, and I would always had ppl asking what I was wearing at the laundromat. I bought a new bottle recently and it doesn’t have as many phases/complexity as it used to have, but I still love it. The beginning used to be so dark and literally metallic. But then it would bloom and last on your clothes for days!
Let me ask you a question if you can frame it this way in your mind. Would it be safe to say that PDM Percival is the younger version or less mature version of this? Does Egoiste have a slightly more mature Amber base that anchors the freshness?
I am a woman, i love it and find it to be a masterpiece, I imagine thats how Alain Delon smells, its one of the first perfumes on my perfume journey that intrigued me and i have been wanting to buy it for my collection but i keep investing into more feminine ones first and...your day will come, Platinum Egoiste... just don't get discontinued yet :)
Hi ATH, I am loyal fan, this is the video that introduced me to you, Platinum Egoiste has been go to signature for most if not all occasions since I was 25 years old, its still a favorite and in my current rotation today, problem is, it doesn't last - and seems to last less so now 20 years later - could you recommend another fugere with similar scent DNA that might last longer, perhaps in an EDP or Parfum concentration?
Please try to make a video about wearing winter fragrance in summer. I live in a hot country all year round. And I can't wear only what is for summer. Smells get the same to me (citrus and few spices). I love to try other types. I started collecting winter fragrances and I enjoy them. I'm wondering if they smell better in cool weather or last longer. I don't know. Can you share your thoughts?
Platinum Egoiste is my all time favorite and signature scent. A lot of people shit on it but I dont get that. Something so timeless can never be dated by definition.
There’s just something about it’s smell. I’m in no way smart enough as Aaron is to pick up all the subtle characteristics…but when I tried it on my skin at Sephora, I walked out to my car, cranked it, cut it back off, walked back in, and bought it right then. It’s wonderful year round to me, but is spectacular in the Summer.
