BK, sincere thanks for this content! It is extremely valuable for any aspiring self-taught perfumer. I am amazed at the difficulty of finding quality free information on this discipline...no joke, one would more easily self-learn how to perform a surgery! While you may find some useful bits on Basenotes, there's this attitude by some of the more experienced contributors where they reply with nonanswers or outright snark that does nothing except discourage potential new creators; maybe it's a generational thing, IDK. Anyway, please keep the content coming. It would be really cool if you did a showcase of the many materials in the ambergris-amberwood-woody amber-super amber spectrum, although there is enough there for several videos (perhaps a series?), anything from ambergris synths and bases (Fixateur); a comparison of ambroxan, ambrox super, cetalox, ambrox dl; iso e super, timbersilk, sylvamber; ambermax, ambrocenide. All the best!

I do think the absolutes are the best deal, they are complex, just a bit gives you a great diffusive power, you can dilute them to 10-20% and still get a lot of punch (I’m a natural compound lover) for example mixed 3 absolutes at 10% dilution, vetiver, rose and orris, plus added some dark patchouli and mysore sandalwood for creaminess and it smells like an ultra niche perfume that last a lot 😮😊

First of all i have to say thank you for such nice and clean video. Its so nice to see such videos that has some scientific edge too. And it’s even more nice that or shall I say its amazing that you dont ask for like and subscribe. Its soooo nice 👌🏻 and im not even being sarcastic. And i also have some questions to ask you: 1. What SDS stands for? 2. What is eugenol? 3. What is the difference between the process of making “Absolute and “Extract? And which is more valuable? 4. All different roses that you mentioned do have Absolute or Extract? 5. Which regions roses have you smelled in total?

LOVE this series, would you do one on iris/orris notes (Beta Ionone, Irotyl, Alpha Ionone, etc...)

BK, could you do a “list” of the most important materials a beginner should purchase to use (outside of the typical EOs you can pick up anywhere)? I have about 20 materials in my possession and about 40 in my perfumers apprentice cart haha
@bkscents7050
@bkscents7050 3 года назад
I have a video on "what you need to get started" in which I talk about the top materials I would get first as a beginner. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-jP3Z3WGAijA.html Its so hard to narrow it down to just 20, lol

@@bkscents7050 Thanks haha I'll check it out. And yeah, I think a list like that might have to be even 100 items long, just so many unique notes out there

According to IFF's description of Rose Ultimate Extract, it is Floral, fruity, with apricot and osmanthus notes, tobacco facettes, and spicy on dry down

Thanks for the info. I enjoy masculines with a prominent heart note of rose ( Ala Moods Uomo ). I'm waiting to receive the PA Rose accord blend. Hope it's good.

If you want a good generic rose....I'd grab Rose Givco (Givaudan). That's a potent one!

BK, I couldn't find the Rose Ultimate Extract at PA or PSH. If you don't mind me asking, did you get it as a special order or maybe it's being listed with a different name? Thanks!
@bkscents7050
@bkscents7050 3 года назад
It was a special order. I got it from a friend who has connections as I bought it directly from him (private sale). I can’t share his name publicly unfortunately, but if you email me at bkscents.co@gmail.com I’ll ask this person if they are willing to sell to you and get you in contact with them

I'm using Rose Givco 217 and when I blend it, I can't escape this bitter metallic green note, I tried blending it with the labdanum/benzoin amber accord and it ends up even more bitter - I thought it was a failure, but now I'm thinking I just needed musk and some supporting notes. Maybe I'll try to use it again.
@bkscents7050

Rose givco is really really fresh smelling. Quite fresher than most of the rose absolutes I've tried in comparison. For me, I can't use more than 30/1,000 of rose givco in a formula or it gets out of hand, and I have to bury it with other things
@david-Davidson
@david-Davidson 3 года назад
@@bkscents7050 This is the main issue, I was certainly going way above 3%. No musks, just mixing it with a slew of base note lol... Ya live and learn, I ordered some (PEA/citronellol/geraniol/b-damsacone /a-ionone/b-ionone/rose oxide) and some linalool/ethy brass, and was going to play around with all that to try to make a floral accord which I can tweak. I'm now thinking I'm trying to run before I walk. Still good to have those ingredients, but I'm going to have to chill out - and start doing the math with a scale, and not just drops.

I am revisiting this video after 4 months, as I am intrigued by the Rose Ultimate Extract. Tell me this if you have to substitute it with something else what material(s) would it be? Dorinia SAE + Tobacco Absolute?
