Hi Cindy. Great question! No they don't. There is no need. And to be honest if I was looking at an essential oil to buy and they had preservatives in them I would be concerned. The only way I would possibly be okay with preservatives would be if it was a formulated product that would need a preservative. Hope this helps.
Hey Alena! Great question! I actually don't know what it smells like nor have I specialized in perfumery. However, I wish you luck in finding the perfect recipe =)
Personally I just use absolutes just as I would essential oils, but I understand that there may be a handful of people that choose not to use absolutes topically (on their skin).
@@JessentialLife Yes, there are certainly fakes out there just like with all natural materials however these were from Eden Botanicals, one of if not the most highly respected suppliers of natural materials for perfumery and aromatherapy in the world. So therefore, I am 100% certain that they were all authentic. It all really just depends on where the material comes from and other factors. Some rose ottos are very rose flower heavy, while others lean more towards a green like smell and others citrusy or spicy. It's also important to note, and this is probably why some of the ottos didn't have that rose-forward smell I was looking for, that you cannot get an accurate depiction of an essential oil or absolute by smelling it directly from the bottle. They should always be dabbed on a paper strip or diluted first. At that point, all of the different naunces come out. Same reason why castoreum smells very fecal and inky in its pure, undiluted form but when diluted, it smells like leather.
