Hello not sure if you still will answer it's been so long. But I'm doing much better I have been using Insight I started off doing yoga the I can't remember the home name of it but you lie in bed doing it. Then I started doing the hypnotic thing where it tells you to breathe in breathe out breathe in breathe out and then to focus on like one body part at a time and tell yourself to relax relax and oh my God it felt like I was floating at times and I could actually feel like my face relax in my arms and my shoulders and my pelvic and everything it's crazy I'm doing so much better .
Hey Melissa I was wondering if there was anything you could recommend to me I've been doing the insight it's an app and it has helped me so so very much I contacted you about a year ago and we spoke and you helped me big time I was doing the yoga where you lie in bed I can't remember the name off the top of my head but you lie in bed and breathe and things like that and then I moved to the hypnotic things and those really really help me but but I'm still having issues on the left side and my hip and my lower belly I've tried everything is there anything you can recommend it's almost there where it's gone
I got to go to a pelvic floor pt for a couple sessions before I lost my insurance and we basically came to the conclusion I had too tense of a pelvic floor (I was not having trouble keeping myself from peeing, more felt like I had to when I didn’t need to like a uti and painful sex) and that I basically cannot get it to relax. I find a lot of videos on strengthening those muscles but not really on relaxing them or the hips and I really appreciated this one
this was a hard leap for me but I'm so glad that I made it. my wife does my massage while I meditate and yes, we add a little extra to it... but it's helped so much for pain and even anxiety.... I wish it for the world. we carry a ton of stress down below... both males and females. Learning to release that stress can be magical, definitely pleasurable
Go to insight timer it saved my life. I had the same thing. For 4 years. And it all started because of a UTI . I had been getting the injections they helped but insight is unbelievable I love it you need to try the relaxing and breathing some of them make you feel like your floating on air . Good luck hun
I hope you checked insight timer out I had the same thing honey it was in my hips and my lower belly that's how bad I had it. I was in so much pain. It's been a couple of months I have been free of pain. It's actually your brain that isn't helping you also it thinks it's helping you by keeping your muscles tight. You have to keep telling yourself that you're not in pain so it will stop tightening the muscles. I know it doesn't sound right but it's true. It's your subconscious telling it that you need help in your pelvic area. It's really messed up. But true. I feel for you. I wish you all the best .
Just wanted to ad DR. Melissa helped me a lot in the beginning. Thank you. But if you want to get your hole body to relax just try it. I'm free if pelvic problems haven't had them in a couple months now. It all started because of a UTI unreal also I told my specialist and she didn't believe me. Now that tripped me out you would think she would have known that .
Thank you, Dr. Melissa. This is the best talk on the pelvic floor and perineal massage I've seen. You broadened my understanding and now I want t get the blocks and ball lol. I'm just learning how important this is. This was so helpful.
OMG I have had pelvic muscle pain for over 4 yrs. It took almost 2 yrs before I received help. You rock woman this has helped in just one setting. I have all 4 points I believe it is so I'm dealing with a lot
@paulacarter8091 I tried everything, PT, botox, nerve blocksI even had a few surgeries. I finally realized that I am clenching...everywhere in my body. It's kind of like the same idea as jaw clenching except it's global for me. I've been slowly getting better over time since I realized this, but it's a hard thing to stop because it's my bodies natural reaction to stress. Myofascial release work on my entire body has helped. There are so many different things that can cause tension in the pelvis and pelvic pain, you have to find what the root cause is which is hard. Being in the medical field I searched for an anatomical cause for years, but there just wasn't one. I literally needed to learn how to calm my nervous system down. If you think this might pertain to you also look up MSK Neurology muscle clenching he explains it really well.
@@stayred77 this worked for me there's an app insight look it up it's for help and all that it has thousands of things on there from doctors therapist everything like I said I suffered for 4 years this has it's almost gone now please please try this I swear by this app it's a lifesaver the doctors couldn't help but I was getting the injections too and I'm not getting them anymore all I have is like my left hip bothers me just a little bit once in a while that's it so try it and let me know how it works give it a week give it a week and it's $10 a month let me know okay
Thanks for this! There's not much information on how to do this anywhere and for me is one of the most effective pelvic floor practices to get things working again - great job Dr Oleson 🙏
This was awesome! I love that you provided education on the anatomy. That really helped me to visualise and feel more deeply into my pelvic floor. Thank you 🙏
Thanks for the videos on this nerve pain. It was really bad for me but what worked most is just relaxing the area as it must have been very tight. How does stretching and activating the muscles tie into it all. Do you have a different video that ties them all together. Seems like they all play a part. I supposed i have a dysfunctional pelvic floor im guessing. Thanks again for the helpful videos
So glad to hear that you are enjoying the videos. We have several videos on the channel for relaxing and lengthening the pelvic floor as well as strengthening. The key is learning how to use your breath and posture for your pelvic floor. We have a free masterclass that sets the foundations for this Here is the link to join the free masterclass square-art-937.myflodesk.com/bladder-control
Very useful advice, thank you Drr. It seems to me like modern medicine is getting finally some inspiration from TCM (Dr Stephen Chang, etc.), am I right?
My prenatal masseuse said my pelvic floor is very hard and wants me to soften the tissues to prepare for birth. Should I work up to twice a day on those massages?
@DrMelissaOleson Dr. Oleson... you fixed me! I was having what I can only describe as "phantom pee" near the end of my penis. It felt as if pee was still left after urination and that it was going to drip into my pants all day long. Highly uncomfortable! Online I read where some men had similar issues and were being mis-diagnosed with prostatitis, which I had also been diagnosed with. What I read was that it was actually due to pelvic floor muscles and nerves. So, I found your video, humbled myself to give myself a massage in the perineal area and followed your steps. While massaging I actually found a point that sent a sensation to the exact spot in my penis that was being affected! I felt immediate relief, and after 3 days of following your advice, the sensation of "phantom pee" was completely gone! I assume I had a compressed or pinched nerve. I have not had that sensation for over a week now and seem to be back to normal....Thank you Thank you Thank you!
@@DrMelissaOleson hello again. I seem to have triggered the same area in my pelvic floor again, twice since we spoke last. Both times it has been by either doing curls with weights, or by picking up a heavy box. Thankfully the massage method releases the tension before I had any adverse effects. Would I be wrong in thinking my pelvic floor is weakend on that side? I have tried keegals before and that actually kinda hurt the area and may have been the reason I had the first instance of trouble.. I see you have pelvic floor exercises I may try unless you have another suggestion. Thanks for your time.
How are you now? Ive had the same issues as you with the stuck pee and also debilitating nerve pain through my penis and around that area. What worked most is relaxing the area and the breathing into the area. Then i did massage like in this video. Trying to work in stetching and activating the area but not sure how they fit in to the equation.
@@Olof-mh4do haven't really had that sensation in a few months now. I think I had a muscle strain and it is finally healing up. I do have a hernia in my stomach, I am going to have the doc check for a hernia in the groin too, in case that's what it is. Sorry you have that sensation, it was pretty miserable, but luckily it hasn't come back since the second time.
There are a number of areas that could be tight like glutes, perineum like in this video, upper abs, and more. Here is a video of a little bit of everything ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-9mJ3xEG9xr8.html Thank you for your suggestion we will add that to our filming list.
I’ve been trying to do self massage around my sit bones and inner groin in so much pain right now but need to move onto internal peri massage. Pelvic Stretching release alone isn’t helping.
Thanks you for a great educational video. My question is for males who have pelvic floor and ED issues. I've been doing Kegels for about 9 months now and have seen some improvement. Would it be helpful to use a small vibrator for the perineal massage.
Glad you enjoyed this video. Some find using a vibrator helpful for perineal release or using the towel roll like I did in the video. Listening to what works best for your body is key. Breathing coupled with these exercises are very helpful.
Hi actually I have been dealing with vaginal numbness and it's natural. It's not due to some external cause. So due to the numbness I really can't feel anything during intercourse. Very less pain and zero pleasure. So did these exercises help u in feeling more pleasure inside during sexual intercourse in the long run?? If it did then I can use it to treat my problem. Please respond 🙏
Great question! Everyone is different so listening to your body is key. I have some clients that do them daily, do them as a cool down to workouts, some that do them 2x day, and some that do couple times a week.
I had cancer in my left hip and had 21 radiation treatments there, and have had horrible pain, went to a pelvic therapist and she could not seem to help me, would I need more exercises than just these or would these help, my muscle seems to not want to stay relaxed, stiffens right up again....
These techniques can be helpful in relieving the pain, but the key is to get to the root cause. These exercises are great for releasing tension around the pelvis and creating circulation. Keep up the good work!
You got my attention because you are an attractive young lady. You held my attention till the end because you are an excellent presenter. Thanks for the information
What to do if rectum pain. Dr says from pelvic floor dys. Tight puborectalus muscle. Have had pain, pressure, swelling, feels like rock in but. Any advice? Please respond ma'am. Been to four gi docs had Botox and allograft injection. Heeeelp
A pelvic floor physical therapist can be so helpful & focus on your specific needs. I always have my clients start off with breathing since it is such a powerful tool for the pelvic floor and core.
I also get rectum pain too almost like a pressure pain tmi but I even feel pressure pain in my rectum during sex almost like a stabbing pain I don’t know how pelvic dysfunction can cause rectum pains as well 😣
I just spent 12hrs in NON stop pain, did every yoga pose, breathing technique available. The Ativan didn’t touch it. They say rectum Valium is good. I didn’t sleep one wink, specialist tomorrow. If he adds anything knew I’ll inform you all.
These techniques can be helpful in relieving the pain, but the key is to get to the root cause. These exercises are great for releasing tension around the pelvis and creating circulation. Keep up the good work!
i had 2 c section nd my 2nd c section very painful 😖 my tailbone very hurt nd postpartum period nd incomplete stool pass stairning pushing with soft stool nd stool stuck in my rectum needing fingers remove the stool nd uncomfortable anus feeling i am very upset 😢 please guide me sister
So frustrating ! We understand. If you search across my RU-vid Channel you will find more videos with tips on managing constipation, and many more exercises too
Great video. I have a question on male pelvic floor massage, specifically the area you’re targeting in between testicles and anus in the video. There’s a lot of strange vascular, soft tissue, and “floaty” random anatomy down there. How can you tell what’s okay to massage and not? Sometimes I think maybe I’m hitting a vein and rubbing on it? Or maybe it’s a tendon. I might be thinking too much. Thanks for any insight. Also, I’ve been to PT for pelvic floor issues and more men need to go. It changed my life and got me off prostate medication.
So amazing you were able to go to pelvic floor PT and found it helpful. Thanks for sharing more need to go! To answer your question, if you are in that space between anus and testicles you are looking for a spot that feels tight. The towel roll exercise in a chair is a great starting place to see if there are any tight spots or feels different side to side. And as always listening to our bodies is key.
Does this help with sex drive at all? I’m trying to massage my body in a way that allows for optimized blood flow to my pen!s. Is there another area I should focus on?
Creating more flexibility and mobility in your hips & pelvis can be very helpful in optimizing blood flow. There are a number of muscles around the pelvic that could be tight such as glutes, deep hip rotator muscles (this one is demoed at the end of the video), adductors, and more. The perineum is just one area.
I really appreciate your effort and thank you so much for your time. I had dysfunction for years and I am now with pelvic floor therapy, this video make me do my home exercises much easier 💪🏻 thank you 🙏🏻
@@DrMelissaOleson absolutely , do you give specific exercises or just raise awareness for the client? ALso I wonder if this is taught on pelvic physio courses? Thanks!
@@cazperry6035 I do both raise awareness and different connections to pelvic floor and also provide exercises. Depends on what courses you take, but yes can be taught in some physio continuing education classes.
I read about the connection , many years ago. I had/have very tight jaws. Now I have pelvic floor pain that limits my ability for penetration. I use a vibrator on my jaws and found it opens the energy flow to my pelvis. Recently, I read that the in vitro, the two are connected cells. Then they split. Other body parts related to one another, by the same, cell split process.
I had from pregnancy hernias and had them repaired with the abdominus recutis surgery. Before I had the surgery I had majorly created for my self the worst tension in my pelvic floor. Now I’m recovering from the surgery 3months in and I’m doing your video and it really helps. I’m wondering by repairing the hernias in my stomach wall will that help with my pelvic floor? It feels like I will never get back to jujitsu! Thanks 🙏 your tips are sooo helpful!
Hi there! So glad you are finding the videos helpful! Be gentle with yourself as you’re healing and getting back into things. Learning how to use your core & pelvic floor is key especially after surgeries. Breath & posture play a big role in this. Keep up the good work you got this! 💜
Working on your core & pelvic floor system can be helpful with this. Learning how to breathe for your pelvic floor & core is key. When we have too much intra-abdominal pressure that can lead to leaks, pains, pressure, prolapse, digestive health, and more. Breathing is a great first step in learning to manage the pressure.
Thank you for the suggestion we'll add that to our filming list. We do have a video for lower back and myofascial release here you might enjoy ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-8-Mo60c3SFo.htmlsi=MuQRtRmnKyb7UsZs
@@DrMelissaOleson yes, I’ve done that video as well. I think my lower back hurt from over gripping. That’s why I love the myofascial releases mixed in with pelvic floor stretches.
Can a pelvic specialist perform a perineal massage as a one time session ti learn about oneself and facilitate the learning. I am very comftorable with it and wont mind
@@DrMelissaOleson im not sure if thats whats needed maybe maybe not but what if somone just wanted to learn i doubt a massage would do harm assuming its a perfectly healthy person .
@@DrMelissaOleson i also got a quick question is the perenium and bulspongeousos reachable externally and is the laventor ani aswell? I feel like the laventor ani muscles are the inner side of the glutes externally speaking glutes near the anus so side line crack area. I mighy be confused abit as to the muscles im trying to find them manually externally and find it difficult to do.
