Perodua Ativa vs Myvi vs Proton X50 - we compare the size, legroom, build quality, maintenance cost 

Perodua is going to go for volume. This has been and still is one of their ultimate objectives. Those who can afford x50 would proceed to buy them. It's just that Perodua understands that there are more people in Malaysia who couldn't afford x50 than people who could. Perodua then simply counter offering the people with the next best thing they can afford to buy. Having said all this, proton have done a fantastic job with the x70 and x50. Those will definitely help proton to recapture some of It's market share. All the best to proton and perodua..

For those who are concerns bout the maintenance price of a SUV, shouldn't be buying any SUV in the first place..even the price for changing the tires is already high.. should just get any sedan instead,stick to budget.

X50 is a premium suv. Ativa is just an affordable suv.

That's how it should be. The Ativa and X50 are different type of cars catered for different levels of affordability, so let's not try to compare them against each other. And Proton and Perodua (and their fans) should stop fighting each other over the same market share. Moving forward I hope Proton will continue to light fires up their overseas rivals' asses in the ~RM100k market segment while Perodua continue to focus on providing us cheap and practical cars. One of my wish is to see the Perodua version of the latest Daihatsu Move/Tanto come in.

At the end all of us as Malaysian people should appreciate to both our local car maker having produce this kind of model. Ativa is affordable SUV with premium spect of safety while X50 premium SUV with affordable price.

Why all must put X50 and Ativa as compare, for me Ativa totally different category with X50..

This video was done well. It's hard for me to choose which one. I like the X50 bang for buck, but the Ativa is still a great looking car!

If you want a more premium ride, comfortable and puts a smile on your face. Get a X50... If you don’t mind the engine noise, CVT noise and road noise...Ativa is good enough.

All we want is X50 with selling in Ativa price. Anyone agree with me point?

The Ativa interior dimension is a bit letdown here. Seems like the engine bay is unnecessarily large for a 1 liter engine compared to Axia and that takes away some passenger space.

Love the x50 and ativa but as 26yrs with a of salary less than 4k, I can only afford axia.

I would go for the X50 over the Ativa (just another 30K) when you consider the premium X50 while the Ativa is an affordable SUV. Clearly Perodua is targeting the masses and not to produce a high-end, mid to premium car like Proton where not many can afford.

Since activa width lenght short about 100mm compared to x50 . Dont expect activa handling as good as x50 . Cause when the car width shorter but taller then the body roll more significant. It easy to understand

If you plan to use for at least 9 years go for ativa, if less than 6 years, go for x50. Japan spare parts more tahan than the china one, and easier to get service too.

The Ativa plastic in real eyes does feel cheap and same quality like Axia G spec. Feels like paid double price but only get Axia spec atas.

Both Ativa and X50 are good car on its own deference class, and of cause cannot compete both of them as many mistaken to do so, its totally deference lever of concept base on comfort and quality. Very good review. I opted for Ativa simply becos my wife want a smaller car convenient to drive ard the town only and not for long distance hilly roads drive. I hv used the 1st generation of Myvi which was a very reliable vehicle therefore I trust Perodua/Daihatsu a lot. I initially wanted an X50 but was told by a friend who owned an X70 that Proton has issues with spare parts if big repair is required. My friend X70 was damaged in an accident and its already bn over 3 months and the parts to complete the repair of his X70 are yet to come🙂.

i booked the x50 but the waiting is such a pain. Went to perodua showroom and they got readystock . So now my mind has messed up whether i should wait for x50 or just take the ativa. Currently driving an old myvi but it’s my dad’s car so sometimes it would be hard for me if he wants to use the car too

I will get a better car if I choose x50 but I will lost the canggih items. I am now trying to understand more about the canggih things on Ativa. I really hope you will cover that aspect in your next review especially the adaptive cruise control bco z i think it will help driver during peak hour traffic

Personally I think Ativa is overprice cost at Sarawak is RM 79k on the road all in for dual tone and gear up packages, with no power boot, no rear aircond, only driver side door handle can lock & unlock, no day running light ( thus need to add on gear up package) only driver side window are anti trap, no 360 deg camera, etc

Hello, I just bought X50 Premium and I have few question since I am not car experts, please do help: 1. X50 Premium headlights not leveled (right side is like 2 or 3cm lower than left light) when turn on at night. 2. X50 Premium engine when turn on, if we outside we hear like the engine mounting is shaking badly but if we inside the car cannot hear. 3. X50 Premium while driving on the road, when some car pass through right side makes the car wobbly. So, for all 3 above? Is it normal? I even went to Proton Service Centre for the lamp problem they say its normal, they open few X50 all like that. Please help me, anyone? I really appreciate your kind advice and knowledge. Thank you in advance.

Substance over Form, Kembara!

See a lot of comment saying how premium x50 is. But why not go for x70? Almost all review says it more premium than the x50. + money wise not much different. Both simply SUV. Why buy suv for speed and performance when you can buy honda civic for example. Confirm better handling and performance then any SUV within its price range. Just my 2cents

The ativa looks like a modernized kembara tbh. there's only one way to pick between these 3, if you have 100k to spend then get the x50, if you're looking for a basic SUV that'll get the job done then get the ativa, if you wanna go just from point A to B then myvi or Iriz would be a good buy. if you dont like malaysian cars then get a used mazda cx3 hahaha

LoL ambik persona jer lah sbb atas sikit jer dari myvi...comfort, besar comparment, handling yang sedap, pecut pun laju, transmisi pun cvt jugak, senang bawak org tua sbb rendah. Jika beli Ativa alang2 la pulak, tayar maintenance mahal sbb besar, pecut kat highway engine tak tahan maklumlah 1 liter, myvi pun boleh potong, bawak slow2 jer lah, rintangan angin pulak tinggi, sbb suv, basuh kreta mahal, nak basuh sendiri besar sangat, bukan tggi sangat pun nak rendah banjir tp jimat minyak, senang guna dekat bandar, org yg ada bussiness senag guna lu pikir lah sendiri.

.... i still think myvi will be Malaysian darling for a couple more years.. the cheapest being under 50k with that reliability... my pocket decide a myvi..

That was lot different of price between ativa and x50.....so the material of interior design not same like x50..... Also the power ofc not same because ativa just use 1.0 liter turbo......so for my opinion ativa is made for who want a SUV with low roadtext, low price and also low maintenance cost

x50 losses by default simply coz it didn't arrive even after booking it for 5 months ago ...proton sleeping

in my opinion, x50 is in another class compared to ativa n myvi. x50 has different technology in handling because of the volvo touchment. just look at the gear system, its different, easy n just like bmw n mercedes benz... add on with direct- communication system with proton.. it is another lever of technology because of using voice - command. in another touch, x50 has sunroof n bigger space for passanger. the design is more fancy n powerful. unbeatable power led engine n extra aircond blower at the back. even though ativa has bigger space for storage, x50 keep a good space of leisure for the back seaters. x50 step up higher with parking assist technology n 360 camera for excellent. its incomparably when x50 can speed up faster than honda crv. furthermore, the engine can be start from far away by using the key button or by using the application installed into ur hp or laptop. hence, the car can be operated from jeddah Arab Saudi😁. rm103 k is a lot of money with advance technology provided. x70 with 1.5 engine will be launced soon.
