Persona 2 Batsu's new Tatsuya storylime actually helped pieced together thr missing link between shadows and demons (shift from P2 to P3). Basically demons are the shadow's true forms (as stated in P5) and when Nyarly got destroyed by the P2 cast, it essentially created a catalyst that transformed all demons into shadows. (It was already happening at a slower pace but Nyarly dying accelerated it)

Biyarky alone is almost proof that Nyarlathotep is coming back. He's not even a Persona, so there would be no other reason to bring him back.

Welp... You know what's worse? [Slight Royal spoilers, just in case, although if you're already reading this, I'd think it's a tad too late, but anyways, fair warning] Azathoth in the game meant absolutely *fucking nothing* whatsoever. Hell, you could've changed the Persona's name for pretty much anything else and it would not have made a difference. ATLUS just used it... as a theme. No deeper significance, no connection to Nyarly, no connection to P1 and P2, no nothing. For as much as I loved P5, it isolated itself in its own bubble as hard as it could, and it seems Royal does no better - hell, if Azathoth was up for grabs as some random Persona's identity instead of something meaningful, as in "*the Idiot God, the goddamned Nuclear Chaos* and the one to whom Nyarlathotep serves as a messenger in the Mythos", then I don't know what to think. It's like the franchise just wants to shut itself in, disregarding everything that came before. Hell, what throwbacks to P4 and P3 did we have in the original P5? A Rise poster in some corners of the metro and Tanaka's mug in the laptop interaction as we farmed dirty clothes for money? I'd joke that Tanaka wearing sunglasses is clearly a Hitler throwback and that Tanaka is really Nyarlathotep, if not for the fact that any day now, Nyarly will show up as some random Persona encounter in a dungeon. Hell, since they're disregarding P1 and P2 altogether, let's throw in Seimen Kongou, Amon-Ra, Vulcanus, Apollo, Maya... It's a shame that the franchise came to this, really, because it sets the precedent for each new game to just do its own thing, afraid to pull in the previous lore for whatever goddamned reason. Oh, well, at least we still have Shin Megami Tensei, right? Not like V isn't coming out any time soon, aye?

Doubt that even with all 'guests' working together to banish Nyarlathotep back, he'd keep spawning his avatars all over again. Like Erebus, Izanami, and Yaldabaoth.

i'd like to play as Nyarlathotep or actual persona character

With Tatsuya as one of the members to fight him. He deserves his freedom

@@jessekaakkomaki2747 Well in Persona 1 you could get his card and use him, but only Reiji can use him to his full potential, because all the other characters,including the Protagonist have the worst affinity with the Tower Arcana.
