Yeah just like Morgana (not in this moment but he saves the Thieves a lot) but everyone just button mash the poor guy. P5 kinda sucks when it comes to how to treat your comrades.
I would’ve been fine if Ann just slapped him, since he was unintentionally a bit insensitive, but the others are just kinda assholes for beating him up. Like, sorry he thankfully survived 😂 But yeah, I feel like this moment would’ve been great for all of them to group hug, especially since one of their members nearly *died*
Well everybody chooses to button mash the poor guy. Fore a game that has a villain like Komoshida who shows how awful physical abuse is they sure like to make it look funny.
I feel the same about Morgana. He does so much fore the Thives saving them quite often and it seems like 99% of the players love to abuse him with the button mash option and probably would do worse with him if given the option to do so. Ryuji and Morgana both have it rough.
Sofaris I would like to think they both don’t get *’that’* harsh of a treatment as we depict in on screen. At the end of the day there all still friends who risk there lives for each other for. They all listen to Morgana and half the time ryugi lol
Morgana has done a shit ton of things fore the Phantom Thieves but 99% of the players repay him with button mashing. I am not saying you are wrong but the players are not much better than the Thieves in that regard.
@@sofaris576 well Morgana is an asshole simp. He usurped the entire Haru arc starting shit with Ryuji all because Ryuji didn't immediately agree with Ann. And when he's called out on his bullshit he just up and leaves. If it wasn't for MC and Ryuji he'd still be stuck in Kamoshidas palace. He invites people to stay in your house WHICH ISN'T EVEN YOURS. He gives you shit for wanting to make the phantom thieves popular , which opens up mementos mind you and that's HIS main objective anyway so he's nothing more than a Hypocrite. Ryuji is just a dumbass doing his best and gets shit for it. I'd rather have a dumbass than a hypocrite
Ryuji: oh fine I’ll just be by myself now Me:If it wasn’t for the fact that I don’t have the game due to overprotective parents and it mature rated and I can’t have one for team except for joker I would only use Ryuji
honestly this is my least favorite moment in the game Ryuji gone through so much abuse and when he almost died trying to save the team he gets beaten up, this scean tries so hard to be that classic anime troupe of girl hits guy because guy acts dumb, but at a time like this it is not even funny
アキラ an guy who had a broken leg, abused by his father and risked his life to save his teammates and manages to survive just to get beaten up makes u laugh? um...ok
@@ellisonmasangcay4468 doesn't help that they voice acting genuinely sold me on the idea that they were really worried and upset about him possibly dying. If this was going to be played out for comedy, they should've not given so much emphasis on how much they were crying and such over him, and directed this scene to be more comical if that truly was their intention. At least then this scene wouldn't be viewed as seriously as it was building up to be.
Yeah I feel simular about pretty much everybody choosing the button mash option fore Morgana. I know its on a smaller scale than a full on beat up but still.
@@phantomdriver2010 the only reason it didn't happened is because all the girls have to be an option for the protagonist to romance even if you already romanced someone, which is annoying af. Makes the whole "you should thank Ryuji", "you can go on a date with me as a reward", "what type of guys are you into, Ann", Ryuji talking to Joker about how hot Ann is, etc etc stuff seem pointless. Hate the harem thing, they should do it like Harvest Moon or Rune Factory when the other characters find romance on their own once the mc already chooses someone.
Brodie did call their crying face ugly; which is the truth, but not something you say to a girl. Didn’t deserve the asswhooping he got, but he was asking for Ann to slap him.
Like why did they beat him up? All the bad shit happens to Ryuji. For one, he was almost sexually assaulted in Shinjuku, two, he was blamed multiple times for the Phantom Thieves getting caught when it wasn't always entirely his fault, three, he got beat up just after a near-death experience, especially since he had an abusive father and was abused by a teacher. That's NOT okay.
Kim Sanderhoff That is so off. He cares a shit ton about his friends. If risking his life wasn’t enough to prove it. And have you ever wondered that he could be the way he is because of what he had suffered when he was younger and from Kamoshida?
I absolutely hate this scene. The animated cutscene was so awesome... only to be followed up with *this*. It pisses me off knowing this is what follows up such a great Ryuji moment. It pretty much ruins that cutscene for me. Ryuji had no idea they thought he was dead. It's not like he planned that whole thing either! He didn't deserve that crap.
I feel similar about everybody choosing the button mash option fore Morgana. The game should treat both of them better and they should treat each other better.
If you mean the time when MC got shot by Akechi, they knew it was going to happen, it was their plan. They were of course worried if MC wasn’t able to escape, yes, but it wasn’t out of the blue for them. Still don’t like how Ryuji was beaten up tho
At least Haru says "we were worried about you!" So it seems to me that they only beat him up for his insensitivity. ....they still were way outta line for doing that, though. Ryuji should be getting a massive group hug
@@gamerlife4276 What he said wasn't right, but I wouldn't call it sexist. He had no needed for the men to be added there, but what he said was not indeed sexist.
I am not saying people are wrong getting worked up about this but its quite hypercritical considering that it seems most players love to abuse Morgana with the button mash option and probably would do much worse with him if given the option. I know I can be a hypocrite myself but still.
Ayano Yuki I will admit that it is more of a headcannon, but with Ann being concerned over this and the disappearance scene it seems they share more of a bond then that of just sharing school, especially with how ryuji reacts in displeasure to her cognitive replica in kamoshida's palace. (although i will say he seems to feel the same about the other females in those cognitions.) then there is arguably the beach scene where she seems rather glad at his reaction to seeing her. as previous times he's given looks like that she has taken action against it (the fireworks and the desert bus). So while it's not canon that they are a couple, i feel the pieces are there. Which is why i ship it, and respect those who don't.
I wonder how the anime will handle this scene, I was honestly fine with Ann slapping but beating him up to a pulp is just too much now. Then leaving him there alone in the streets felt like his selfless sacrifice that he did for them was for nothing.
The implications of Ryuji getting beat up are removed. Also, only Ann, Futaba, and Haru picked on Ryuji for almost dying. The rest of the team didn’t pick on him.
"We thought you died!" "What? Hell no! You guys are freaking out, and eheh, your crying face isn't very cute~ Right?" *Girls close in over the course of a few seconds on the guy who just saved their lives and made one single harmless wise crack and beat the fuck out of him and leave him actually unconcious* "BOY I'M FUCKIN' HUNGRY AM I RIGHT? LET'S GO EAT"
There would be petitions to ban Persona 5, if a female was beat up by four MEN!!!! That is how that would all go down. Even call it the patriarchy, if people just said that it was just a comedy, it was for the LOL's people. Then they would go about how this creates violents towards and against women in the real world.
I know this is an old video, but here's something I wanted to share, after this scene, where Ryuji gets his undeserved punishment, I started thinking about how ATLUS could've made Ryuji's sacrifice more meaningful, not only that, have more character development for Ryuji In my take of Ryuji's sacrifice, instead of being literally blasted back into reality, he was actually blasted deeper into mementos, now all alone with the shadows, the door to the upper floors locked until the party makes it to the door, Ryuji would obviously be afraid and exhausted, but he would also have to survive, back in reality everyone would have the same reactions as before, but this time there's no comedic relief, everyone would despair, and sorries would be said about how they all treated Ryuji, eventually the day would pass. Now in this scenario maybe one more month needs to be added before the last trip into mementos; a day or two after Ryuji's "passing" the police would inquire everyone who had any relations to Ryuji, no one can say a thing about it all because it's all related to the phantom thieves, back to Ryuji, maybe a week has passed, can't go hungry in Mementos so no worries there, Ryuji when he's not being attacked, thinks about his life up to where he is now, reflects on his behaviour, and in general matures a lot. Everyone refuses to go to Mementos because they're all depressed, but then all of the events that would lead up to the last trip would happen, with a renewed resolve everyone heads to Mementos, Futaba, and Morgana picks up a familiar signal/scent in the lower floors of Mementos.
I still don't understand why the others didn't even thank Ryuji, like- the dude gambled his life for his friends, knowing fully well one of his legs had been injured. I would understand if the girls hit him a little since he mocked their crying, but ya know, they should have at least hugged him at the end? The dude is a bit of a dumbass, but he is human too.
0:30 ok its time to get personal, when Yuske said “this isn’t funny” and laughed I kinda have done something similar to that whenever something really sad has happened in my life and I don’t know why. I guess I’m just someone who doesn’t always see the best in things but try’s to deject it with comedy and when something tragic in my life has happened I either can’t find the cruel punchline or the situation is so apsurde and so sad that I can’t help but laugh and I always tell myself “why? Why am I laughing?” I’m really glad Ryuji is alive but still this scene reminds me of something’s I’d like to forget.
That's because he deserved it. Ren went beyond mere two-timing and dated every female confidant in the game and he got his ass beat. Somehow Sojiro rolled a 20 on charisma though and saved his life. Ryuji got is ass blown up to save their lives and gets beaten up in return.
Ryuji literally saves everyone and almost dies but once he comes back and accidentally says some insensitive shit they commence an All Out Attack on him some friends
Bro this also reminds me of the scene where Bakugou of MHA Season Six said, "If Deku dies I'll kill him!" Seriously, why is every anime released with this type of logic about death? "People die when they are killed" and all that? What's going on?
This scene honestly makes me mad. I get the whole cliche of "If you die, I'm gonna kill you." but when it happens it usually ends in a gentle scene of hugs and reminiscing before the character is revealed to be alive and everyone is just happy they're alive. I know it's obvious they were trying to make the scene feel comical in a way but it felt overwhelming, especially towards ryuji. Besides had they made it seem like he had actually been killed off and he reimmerges later during the final act I think the impact would have been bigger and him revealing that he was doing this as a surprise would have warranted Ann and Futaba leading the charge like they did, but this was too much and it felt like it fell in the cliche of a guy doing something wrong and getting hit for it but way over the top. Overall probably the worst scene in the game and it could've been better.
@. I can understand that. Honestly had Persona 4 had a remake using these graphics it's still be the fan favorite, and despite coming out nearly 10 years before p5 it's still my favorite of the persona games.
P4 has the best cast. Too bad people can't appreciate them because there is not bitches in the team like in Persona 3 and 5 *Coff* Yukari, Makothot *Coff*
I was PISSED at this scene and I don't see a lot of people complaining about it? Ryuji SAVED THEIR LIVES and what did he get? Getting BEAT UP. I lost interest in all of the girls because of that. And NO ONE stood up for him. I feel like smacking all the girls...
Yoga Sadewa alright so getting beat up by your friends is a joke? and then leaving you unconscious against a pole alone is funny as well? feel free to shove me into the street as a prank pals!
Chris CloraxBleach And it wasn't even his remark to Ann that got them mad. It was the moment he said "Ain't I alive?" He described what had happened, and even expressed his relief that he didn't die. There was nothing else he had to say.
P5R is my favorite game but AHHHHH I hate this scene so bad, P5’s over reliance on slapstick was awful especially when that slapstick was on a character with an abusive father and teacher.
It's upsetting that for so long he's been the punching bag for his father and Kamoshida, and now that he finally finds people he can call family he's still the punching bag. Ryuji gets nothing but shit on the entire game, it's really fucking annoying. It's not funny either. Mona and the girls are allowed to bully him but he almost dies trying to save their stupid asses and he gets ganged up on and yelled at? Bullshit. Here to remind you Ryuji still has a bad leg from his past, yet he still did all of that for the people he loves. And this is how they repay him. Bullshit
@Wolf17 Well, to be honest, it's reasonable for Ann to slap him. Ryuji literally had no idea that Ann just mourned him, thinking that he died a few moments ago. She even said "It's your damn fault!"
If I was Ryuji in this scene I would’ve left the Phantom Thieves at this point. I’ve been abused, sexually assaulted, got my leg broken, and almost died trying to save you guys, and y’all just beat me up and leave me alone on a pole on the street to actually die? Like man fuck you guys, I’m joining the S.E.E.S. or the Investigation Team instead lol.
Man what if Ryuji actually died back there? The phantom thieves would be more appreciative of what he does for the team. They give him way less credit than he deserves
I like to think that they didn’t beat him up, but rather the girls cried and gave him a group hug and the reason why he’s passed out there is cuz they hugged him way too damn tightly for him to even breath.
I wasn't. It was worth a laugh. If anything this might help Ryuji finally understand to not just say things carelessly like "we are the phantom thieves!". Because it's always his running his mouth that causes trouble for him.
Me first time watching this: Oh my god this is a great character moment showing how he goes from tripping while they escape Kamoshida's palace to getting strong enough to run and save all the Phantom Thieves. Atlus: We got em
I’d at least be fine with this scene if Ann slapped him and then they all hugged Ruji. Ryuji made fun of Ann thinking he died, so of course she’d be upset. But they should all still be happy he lived not beat him up just because THEY thought he died.
Like, if they'd gotten mad at him, slapped him but then like group-hugged him straight after or something I'd be ok, but NOT beat him after he almost got killed.
Even though I admit I laughed at this scene, I can see some people seeing this as a harsh treatment they've done to Ryuji and not knowing about his traumatic past. Speaking of which, I wonder what's he thinking while being unconscious.
