Thank you for this. I have it in my garden trailing over the front wall. Many people comment on what a show it is and ask for its’ name. I bought it as unnamed fifteen years ago as a good doer from a nursery in Cornwall who did not know what it was called and listed it as a pink barbier type. Mine is over 20ft long. I spent a day and a half this spring sorting it out and looked very denuded when I finished. It has bounced back and is about to burst forth taking over from the Alberic Barbier which is trailing along the wall the other side of the front gate for about 20feet. It is lovely to now be able to give it a name. As you say it is very easy to train, tie in and follows on along in the same direction without wanting to head upwards. Also not too many thorns so does not attack you every time you go near it.
