Oh yes. it's so wonderful! How old is he? What 21, 23..? Did you look like sh*t at that age or something? Most people at that age in the biz have a decent income, look pretty healthy. A parade of people to make it so as he's an investment. People have MONEY invested in him... come on.
Walter Manhead dude he’s 26. He had a traumatic experience with his dad dying during 9/11 and then for years didn’t properly deal with it. He mentioned he was suicidal, which I hope you can agree with, isn’t very healthy. Since he found the help he needed he is doing much better and you can definitely see him being much happier and healthier! And why choose to hate when can love and be supportive of that?
@@speakingtruths4215 Just because we have a difference of opinion does not make me a 'hater'. And your thoughts are muddled, something triggers hate, hate does not trigger. Logic, try it, might help you make sense of the world. HUmmmm.... suspicious about you.
I noticed he really gets choked up discussing his life with comparison to parts of the movie. He is still really hurt inside and outside. I feel for him.
The hurt of losing a parent when you're a child doesn't go away. I was 12 when my father died in the line of duty. I survived but the pain is still raw. You learn to cope. I have a grandson now whom i cherish. It's such a joy spending time with him...i see glimpses of my father and brother, also deceased. I know that my dad would have adored my daughter and her son. Best Wishes for Pete that he finds his 'love' and has a family of his own. Those babies will be so loved! 💕
Obviously, I cant be sure of this, but usually people being interviewed are given the questions before the interview so that they can prepare answers or reject questions they do not want to answer. It did not appear that he was blind sided by that question.
I have to strongly disagree with the comment about never asking the question how close did you get. Pete's totally honest and transparent answer probably was seen by millions of people. If he came back from the brink, he gave support to many potentially suicidal people in the TV audience. To make any kind of progress against this horrible suicide situation, you must ask any question and give honest answers from the survivors. By not asking the tough questions, you are only adding to sweeping mental health issues and suicide in particular under the rug. This absolutely cannot be done. I trust your comment was honest and well-intended. But you missed the mark. You CANNOT avoid the tough questions in life. Life can be rough at times, and nobody gets out without heartache and tough situations in their lives. Check out REM song Everybody Cries. Their lyrics include "If you think you've had enough of this world, hang on." If this interview made you uncomfortable, then you might possibly need suicide intervention prevention. Too many people love you and respect you, reach out for help if you need it. National Suicide Prevention number 1-800 273 8255. If you agree with this comment, please give me a thumbs up. Thanks! 👍👍
Pete might have okay'd it being asked because he probably had been asked the question numerous times and he firgured he could answer it once through the interview and call it a day. He probably does not want to keep hearing that question.
Pete Davidson really doesn't give himself enough credit. He is a very talented person. Edit: People, all I said was that I think he's a talented person. That is my opinion. I respect your opinions, but, please, don't be cruel and mean to other people. You can have your opinions, but it doesn't mean you have to trash talk each other.
Café Nervosa thanks, I think it just depends on people's senses of humor. Of course, not everyone is a fan of him, but he truly is a good stand up in my opinion. But, again, everybody has their own opinion.
Pete Davidson is truly one of my favorite human beings out there in the lime light. He gives me hope- not much does. I’m so grateful he has made this passion project. I can’t wait to see it, bud!!!!
This is a guy you would grab a beer with and become friends. A celebrity that didn't grow up in the "celebrity world," just a guy who wants to make people laugh and make the world a little brighter. I think he's also really talented too.
Anybody else feel like how Scott felt at the beginning of the movie? Just wandering through life not knowing what to do or even if you're going to be successful in it.
bethmerchy Before an interview, the interviewer and guest go over the questions so as not to blindside the guest. Pete answered that question very fluidly and did not seem at all bothered by it. He answered honestly and it was a good segue into the next question about the scene where he drives with his eyes closed.
What a story this kid has!!! So funny and talented ❤️❤️❤️. We want him to do great!!! A survivor of 9\11 in a way. Thank you Pete for sharing your life and stories with us.Making us laugh and cry! Your dad is proud!!!
He lost his dad and later he was an addicted-suicidal...John Mulaney lost his brother and later was addicted. And now they are doing so fine, it is great.
humans have morbid curiosity.....probably been asked that a lot and figured to answer it in a interview ONCE and call it a day.... is better than continuing to be asked it.
As a person who's had two attempts and two facility admissions, it doesn't strike me as odd or disrespectful(even if slightly insensitive) if people want to know. They might have never gotten close to it themselves and I would never want to chide someone for wanting to understand another's problems better. Props to Pete for keeping it real(if he was ever truly uncomfortable in an interview, people can just speak up and walk out btw). Facing the discomforting darkness of your decisions, but understanding it was in the past and that you're better now is way better than just shoving it into a box and erasing that from your life.
My favorite thing about him is that he talks so openly about mental health and his personal struggles. That really helps a ton of people and more people in the public eye should do that.
Pete is one of the best things to happen in a long time. Although I am older than his Dad I relate to his authenticity, his self deprecation, his sadness, his desire to be something but not at the expense of who he is. This man is healing people with his humor and his honesty. Although he may not see what he is doing as the same as his father’s path, his father would be incredibly proud of him. Like all of us he needs to be cautious; when we are at our greatest success, what we think is our happiest, doubt and sabotaging that happiness can be our self destructive tendency. This is why it is important to have people in your life that really care for you and our honest back, but most importantly you have to learn to give yourself and the world a break. It all doesn’t have to be solved in a day. Best of luck Pete in your life’s journey.
I'm 54 and have lived on Staten Island for 19 years. I didn't know Pete Davidson was from Staten Island until I watched the trailers for his new movie. I knew he was a part of SNL, but that's all. I started Googling him and realized I really like this guy! I wish him much success and peace of mind. Depression is often a struggle for creative people 😪 I hope he continues to take care of his mind, body and spirit ❤ 😊 🙏
Pete bravery and perseverance to start stand up that young, in MANHATTAN, after all he’s gone through has given me the motivation I needed to start doing open mics in the city once all this is over. I’ve been acting and performing for years and have always wanted to try standup but it’s truly terrifying. Time to conquer that fear. Thanks Pete.
It's great to see Pete doing so well. He is obviously an incredibly talented comic, writer, actor and artist. I wish him the best, and look forward to seeing his future work.
Just saw THE KING OF STATEN ISLAND and I really liked it. It wasn't a movie with any heavy handed messages. It was like a story about a guy trying to navigate his way through life having to deal with the normal pitfalls we all have to deal with like life, death, feelings of insecurity and worthlessness, directionless in regards to what to do with your life. It was real and relatable. I'm glad he did this to dedicate to his family. His dad would be so proud of him I think.
He's truly one of my faves. Ever since I started watching his SNL skits and stand up videos a few years ago, I genuinely appreciate what he puts out into the world. I cant wait to see what else he does. I love the conversation he has about mental illness and I love that its brought into the movie💕
I am not typically a big fan of his work on SNL, but we watched this movie over the weekend and really enjoyed it. What a performance he gave. It was funny, but took me on a roller coaster ride of emotions. I really found myself rooting for his character. It really is a shame that this came out during the pandemic, because it really limited his audience. People need to see this movine.
I have a lot of respect for him as a comic. I feel like he shines in stand up, not necessarily SNL or skits or movies. Just allowing him to go with his stream of consciousness is awesome to see. I like hearing his own words, not a script someone else wrote for him. I’m excited to see this movie for sure and hope to see how he develops as an entertainer.
Pat Fry idk why you are so mad about my opinion but maybe you should reflect on the situation and determine if you have some deeper issues. Stay blessed ❤️
Whenever I see him in interviews and on TV, my heart just goes out for him. I feel like he's overcome so much and I'm glad everyone just wants him to do well
I just watched this yesterday. It was amazing. Instantly one of my favorite movies ever. Pete Davidson is a huge talent and I wish nothing for the best for this guy. I can’t wait to see what the future holds for him.
I am SO excited for this movie. And just as excited watching Petes career bloom!!! Love this guy on so many levels, so honest and relatable, at least for me!!! (Man he looks like his dad 🥺💖)
Same, I'm diagnosed with BDP, OCD, GAD and clinical depression. I know that Pete is not a perfect man, but he's one of the very few people who inspires me to keep going although most times it'll be not easy. Pete's so inspiring and genuine dude
i truly cant explain how proud of pete i am. he looks so happy and healthy both mentally and physically. he seemed to be in such a dark place months ago but now its so much more different. im so happy for him :,,)
Was amazing about people who are so critical of others struggles is that if you really knew them you would be amazed at the true people they are!!!!!! Everyone has something they struggle with, those who harshly criticize and judge have the worst issues for their own !!!!! WE LOVE YOU PETE!!! He is young and learning life like anyone else at 26!!!!Let the man grow and learn like EVERYONE has too!! Y’all Muthas need a life ❤️❤️❤️❤️🥰🥰🥰🥰❤️❤️❤️❤️
