Pete Delaney was selected for the Door-Opener Award ...
For valuable contributions made to society during his important business career, most recently as chairman, president and CEO of OGE Energy Corp., where he is an enthusiastic employer-leader, giving credit for his and the company's successes and its numerous awards to his 3,500 employees; as president of the OGE Energy Corp. Foundation, where, as a leading philanthropist, he makes major financial donations to local, state and regional nonprofit organizations that encourage and support the delivery of thousands of programs and services that benefit millions of people; and as a civic leader, who serves on numerous boards and has led such vital community-strengthening organizations as United Way of Central Oklahoma and the Greater Oklahoma City Chamber.
Pete has also opened doors for others through his work as a board member at Heritage Hall School, Allied Arts of Oklahoma City, the Oklahoma City Museum of Art, Oklahoma State Fair, Downtown Oklahoma City Inc. and Oklahoma City, Boathouse Foundation. He currently serves as the Greater Oklahoma City Chamber's board chair.
As president of the corporation's foundation, Pete has increased OGE's giving program efforts to an estimated $2 million annually. The positive impact the foundation's giving has on hundreds of social service, education, chamber of commerce and arts organizations in dozens of communities in OGE's service area is large and helps set the standard for corporate philanthropy in the state and region.
Pete recently received the honor of being named Utility CEO of the Year by Energy Biz magazine. And on OGE's behalf, he recently accepted the much coveted and highest award given to an electrical utility, the Edison Award, which is bestowed by the Edison Electric Institute. In presenting the award, institute President Tom Kuhn stated: "OG&E is being recognized for its distinguished leadership, innovation and progress in advancing smart technologies to power the future."
