Peter FitzSimons - former Wallaby, esteemed author and raconteur - joins Martin Devlin on It's Only Sport, to share his thoughts on Joe Schmidt being named the next Wallabies coach.
Schmidt will be the third New Zealander to hold the role following on from Robbie Deans (2008-2013) and Dave Rennie (2020-2023). FitzSimons believes Schmidt is exactly what they need at Rugby Australia right now.

Ian foster wtf?,he's shit the worst AB coach we've ever had,the only reason why the ABs made the RWC final was becoz Joe Schmidt and Jason Ryan were brought in before that foster was on the brink of getting sacked,before foster got the ABs job he had no success as a coach,he had done nothing,sweet fuk all.

Dont think NZ have ever beaten SA in a test series? They had better SA's C Team in the coming weeks otherwize he will look very silly. I remember the Aussie saying they dont need SA in super rugby. Look at SA now, players getting paid big bucks all over the world, heaps of deprh, and importantly having the synergy whwn they cone together for WCs. "Hulle went nie wat ons weet nie"

The ABs have beaten the Boks in several series in NZ. They also won the only test series in SAF that had neutral refs (1996)... RNZ has never given a ref a gold watch & teams visiting NZ dont get "food poisening"
