And let's not forget that Forsberg was doing all of this during the 'clutch and grab' era, not the 'hands off era'... Imagine if he couldn't be hooked and grabbed all the time...
The hooking, holding, slashing, and crosschecking of that era was obscene. In the decades previous, the games would have been constant brawls because of the fouls. In the decades following, the PIMs would have piled high.
Forsberg would destroy in todays NHL. He might also be suspended a lot haha. Malkin is sick too though, just not sure if he has the physical presence comparable to Forsberg.
Well to bad NFL turned black ......hockey is Peter Forsberg era...not to forget Naslund and 30 more Swedish players that ownd the game ....Brothers Sedin and many more....The fact NFL change the game every year to fit the money game is a shame ....
Malking is good Forsberg was GREAT...cant compare what Forsberg did during the clutch and grab era to what Malking does now....Forsberg would TOTALY dominate NHL if he was at his prime today...noone would be close.
The fuck they comparing Malkin to Forseberg? Not even close. Malkin does not have the physical play that forsberg had. Forsberg also had better hands and was way stronger on the puck. The only thing Malkin possibly does better is with shot accuracy.
@isthatyoubetha The way you're trying to hide that Forsberg has 2 Olympic gold medals is beyond pathetic. "1 best on best Olympic Gold" is some next level trolling.
@@bartholomewesperanza3442 Because Forsberg is, quite simply put, one of the Top 3 most talented hockey players to ever play alongside Mario Lemieux and Wayne Gretzky. He was that good, but his career was cut short as a result of his physical style of play that resulted in lots of injuries and surgeries.
@Edward McMullen Agreed. Malkin is a psychopath who bullies players in today's game and age without following the code, but Forsberg can dish out and take clean, hard hits, especially the one he took along the boards from Kronwall. That would likely be a penalty in today's game, but Forsberg never complained, he simply got up and continued playing hard. I have never seen anyone play with this much determination in such an intimidating way except maybe Ovechkin.
Forsberg wasnt as big as Malkin but he played a way more physical game. People keep saying forsbergs physicality shortened his career but thats not true. Forsbergs foot is what shortened his career and his foot issue started in his second year in the league if yoi can believe it.
Forsberg wasn't as tall as Malkin, but his game weight was actually listed as slightly heavier. Malkin wasn't that big, he was just tall and lanky, a bit like pre-NHL Sundin before Sundin bulked up. But yes, Malkin wasn't that physical at all, he did have a bit of a mean streak though regarding retaliatory penalties. Forsberg and Malkin weren't really that similar, I think Malkin's probably more similar to someone like Sergei Fedorov if you take Fedorov's great defensive game out of the equation.
Forsberg can't be compared to anyone.... why because he was one of a kind... in fact I'm still waiting for the next NHL player that plays his way.... and it probably won't happen in my life span....shit... comparing him to Malkin is an insult.... as of now ovechkin is the closest player to being a Forsberg....
Sidney Crosby was compared to Forsberg at the draft he may not be as physical as Forsberg but they're similar before Crosby Peter Forsberg was my favorite player but Crosby is physical which is why he's also has injury problems
@@coreysova1614I love that no one compares today's players to Forsberg anymore because they know the eras are completely different and that Foppa would destroy everyone if he played in this era.
Forsberg vs Malkin....really... wake up there's no comparison.... Forsberg was a force to be recognized with.... there is yet to be a player that played his way... comparing him to Malkin is an insult Forsberg would kill him
As a Pens fan, I love anyone on my team being compared to one of the greatest centers of the modern era, but I think the physicality, skill, and determination combination that Forsberg exhibited night in and night out is better exemplified today by Alexander Ovechkin than Evgeni Malkin. Ovy has some seriously damaging hits in his highlight reel.
I think I still would make the Lindros trade given what I know back then but after the span of a career Peter forsberg was the clutch player Eric came up real small and that Detroit series and after the Scott Stevens said he was never the same so hindsight being 20-20 I would have kept forsberg
