I would lay in bed at night in 1976 and listen to this album. I memorized every hiss, every pop every skip and when I listen to it today I have to hold back a lot of emotion. It takes me back to the 14 year old version of me mesmerized with the sound and emotion that rock and roll could bring. Thank you Peter Frampton for the gift you've given us all. I wonder if he will ever realize what he and this album meant to so many millions of us. Thank you for transporting me back 45 years and just for a few seconds letting me remember what it was like to be 14 again.
My God!! How did we get here from there??? What a great period for music!! Stadiums sold out every night and the greatest musicians in history, never to be repeated!!
How did we get here from there? So so profound, so deep. We have to admit 70s 80s...we lived through the greatest years of all time. Sad to watch it all fall apart. I think I'm ready to move on from life. It just gets worse!
Used to listen to this in 1976 on Galveston bay la porte Tx I would get off work at11:00 pm & go to the beach & watch the fires on the beach & the ships coming in looking like ghost ships passing Morgan's Point. The FM station would be playing this song. It was a very good life. I finally got to see Peter in 2006 ,30 years later when he played this song I lost it, my wife knew I was a big fan, she asked me if I was alright & I said yes I am,& I hugged her close& cried.
Still my all time Favorite album. I'm 49 , I remember seeing him in Sgt Pepper's movie and that's when I became a fan. Years later I discovered the live Album. I was 15 or 16. Today I learned to play the talk box and closing in on the entire song DO you feel like we do. Thank you Pete for everything and inspiring me to play harder. Thank you for the 3 shows I attended here in Calif. RIP Bob Mayo you sure are missed.
Whenever the world becomes too awful on the outside, I like to return to a magical time where it all began. I've been a die-hard Frampton addict from the start. Makes me smile through fun memories for a few (or 7+) minutes. Thank you for sharing.
I'm 26 years old and listened to this man growing up thanks to my father who saw him in his prime. Frampton is a legend and I carry on his legacy to those who get it to this day.
All the comments are about his musician ship, but, besides that he is a babe! Saw him many times in the 70's & 80's and he had this amazing way of drawing the audience so close to him that you felt like he was singing just to you. Brilliant!
Wish I never got rid of my album collection. Thought with CD's albums were obsolete. Had every Frampton album there was up to I'm In You. I don't I knew a kid in 1976 that didn't have Frampton Comes Alive.
Got that right, I was 16 when this album came out, woke up to it, went to sleep with it, not one bad song on this double album.......what a simple time....
@Cara D smh I was gonna say the same thing he is not underrated he has a perfect position where he stands today he had a world record for most sold live album in the world cmon man
Great year for me as well but 74 was good too. Bowie diamond dogs tour was that year. Also I think the version here was not 76 sounds a year or so earlier what with the harmonies on the chorus. Sounds closer to the studio version than the Frampton Comes Alive version
This song breaks my heart, it's so melancholy, so sincerely lyrical and has such a fine, fine melody, top that with the superb guitar solos and you have a timeless masterpiece. Thank you @Peter Frampton you entertain us even in your heartbreak x
Frampton names this as his own favorite song too in several interviews. Listen to it on the Comes Alive album loud, or with headphones and get lost in the purity, transcendence and emotion of the sound...Words simply cannot express the power of this man's artistry and mastery of the guitar... He'll always be my favorite...God Bless you Peter... Thank you!!
I' m here now in 2020 listenin his songs every day . While i have breakfast i listening '' Baby i love your way'' , when i have lunch i listening '' Do you feel like i do'' , during my dinner i listening ''i 'm in you '', and to go bed whith this sweet song "' LINES ON MY FACE' '' I love you Peter , You have the same face when you was young, and the same soul. Listening and seeing you I feel like the heaven come down to the earth.
How come I missed him in the early 70's? Too busy with Led Zeppelin I suppose..my what a miss ..but now very appreciative of his talent and ..sorry ..superficially his beauty...
Lucky me, I ended up at Winterland Ballroom in S.F one night to see this Peter Frampton guy, never had even heard of him.. My favorite song of all time, reminds me of me and my H.S sweetheart, and the problems of youthful love...
Hermoso amor y vida hoy tengo 65 años y esta música es mi vida ,ya estoy en el ocaso y escuchar y ver esto e felicidad gracias a todos totales y peter fraptom
Ahhhh, it doesn't get any better than this. I remember listening to this, over and over again. Peter is an incredible guitar player. The band mesh so perfectly together. Great song, still one of my most listened-to-songs of Peter Frampton of Frampton comes Alive. A real gem! Wonderful video footage also, considering it's now 40 years old.
1976. Peter Frampton debuted. You just needed to be there to understand his music and entry into rock and roll. He was a sensation who seemed to come from nowhere.
Amazing tonality, feeling and phrasing. Frampton Comes Alive Version of this is my favorite and it’s good to see the improvising on every version. He would never play the same way twice, he was always improvising.
Underrated guitarist great performer great memories for me growing up in the 70s they don't make music like this anymore nobody could get away with making long music tracks like Peter Frampton did
I was too young to really appreciate Framtpton in the 70's. For some reason I like him more and more as the years progress. He's a tasty player. I really enjoy the camera/video effect going on as well. Nicely done.
Um dos homens mais bonitos do Rock e talvez por isso, alguns não reconheçam o grande talento de Peter Frampton na guitarra...ele criou vários solos interessantes que ficaram marcados até hoje. E também um bom compositor e cantor. Prova são seus vários clássicos tais como Show me the way, Breaking on the rules, I cant standing no more...enfim, suas musicas fazem parte da história da musica. Verdadeiro Clássico digno de tocar no Rock in Rio...se bem que o Rock in Rio vem deixando de ser festival de rock há tempos.
I'm sure Frampton has other albums that need to be heard, but a few weeks ago I went to that special place again, track one to end. Frampton come alive recording. Just amazing in the moment playing and exemplary guitar talent. I recommend listening in that order if you haven't.
Saw him when I was 17 iat MSG in the summer of 77 on the I'm In You tour. He was so awesome and is still soooooo underrated and underappreciated as a guitar player.
Saw PF Louisville 77 15yrld In summer of 76, I camped out with a few buddies and around midnight we snuck over to meet some girls having a “slumber party” while parents away. One of the girls had Framptom Comes Alive Album and was my first time hearing;; like all four sides seventeen times. Then retreated back before dawn to friends backyard. The days that the lines on my face dont regret. Edit oh, and after the concert I got a perm; cus you know, I wanted to look something like Peter Framptom or that Leif Garret dude. THAT I kinda regretted.
ONE OF THE MOST AWESOME GUITARIST OF ALL TIME! I LOVE HIM, STILL SINGS & PLAYS GUITAR AND STILL SOUNDS AWESOME. SURE, HE HAD SOME BAD LUCK IN LIFE, BUT DON'T WE ALL...HE'S A LEGEND IN HIS OWN TIME...
When people compare Someone to another it Goes beyond my comprehension We are all uniquely made And have different gifts given to us from God So let us all enjoy each other individually and together Thy kingdom come God’s will be done on earth as it is in heaven Isn’t it that we all hope for And God bless you, Peter Frampton Because you brought a smile to my face since the day you played with Humble Pie till now and always 🌟🥁🎸🌟
He and his beloved reunited 3 pick up Les Paul still got it 40+ years later. Memories of him in concert in Freedom Hall Louisville, KY in '76 👍 Beautiful sound through that old school Leslie Cab
Hey Brandon me too for me the year was 1977 as a fifteen year old. I 'd lie on my bed and listen to the album over and over on a very simple record player. But inspired me to take up the guitar. Still playing 45 years later, a gibson les paul no less. sunburst not black.
Watching Jeopardy. Answer was this British rocker had a double live set that was #1 for 10 weeks and they also showed his photo. Not one of them knew Peter Frampton . Feel old?
This is what a Mode based non- pentatonic, non- chromatic solo sounds like and why the original version on FCA sounded so beautiful and different from everything else out there in 75-76. Long live PF!
@@carlospereda9792 Im pretty sure you are right . It's the fave mode of many great rock lead guitarists; e.g. jerry garcia . Of course as a listener in 1975-76 as a teen i i didn't know what a mode was . I knew what a scale was from singing in a secular chorus in elementary school and in middle school. I didn't find out what a mode was for another 25 years later when i started playing guitar. Do you play?
simply ETERNAL. grew up listening to Frampton Comes Alive and learned guitar playing with it and this one was the moment i was waiting for on the album everytime. I think I did 5 versions myself at the time on my 4 track cassettes
Saw this at Cobo Hall in 1976 , Gary Wright was the opening act . An amazing concert,it was just perfect as so many of them used to be...we grew up with the best live music.
He performed last night to a packed house (casino arena in Ct) and I'm still totally flipped out from what I heard.. He's got 3 great guitarists/one a keyboard player too, and the one of the best drummers you''ll ever hear anywhere. Just had to share, See Him if ya can.
I've seen him perform many times throughout the years, I'm always amused by the surprised reaction some people have upon learning how incredibly good he is and the vast array of material he's written over decades that never gets old! I miss my live concerts and hate all parts of the pandemic/Covid
Thanks Peter. This is a masterpiece. This is right up there near the top of one of my favorite Peter Frampton songs ever, and I would never change my mind on that. Sometimes I find myself singing this in my head as I go about my daily grind. It was wonderful seeing you live in Cohasset, MA a few years back! I bought a shirt at the show and you saw me going back to my seat, it made me happy. It's something I'll never forget. Come back again to Massachusetts, please!?
like so many others herein, perhaps my favorite Frampton piece, and one of my favorite all time guitar pieces. what i love the most about it is that Frampton's composition allows him to play this differently every time, yet always better than before. have seen him in concert several times and it always seems to have the room for open interpretations, all of which, for peter Frampton, are based in classical composition but colored by rock and blues. this guy is just amazing, and his song composition and playing is so vastly under-rated in some circles, and vastly respected in others. at this date, (2020), and at this time in his life, i think peter knows where he needs to stand, as professional respect will last for ages. thank you peter. you're an inspiration on so many levels.
