Coming up 64 this year, and still enjoy listening to this song, my happy go to song

My mommy used to sing this nearly every night at bedtime. Still makes me cry for Puff too. Now that I have a daughter I'm going to sing it to her every night too.

Just wonderful! It’s 2024. I’m almost 60. And this makes me remember my childhood. Just wonderful ❤

Each time I hear this song it still brings tears to my eyes.

When I was so young back in 1962 my mom used to sing me asleep with this song. I could imagine myself seeing Puff.

I had the privilege of seeing them perform at Harkness Park in Waterford CT in the mid 80's with my young family. It was a magical evening. They performed this song for an audience ranging in age from 2 year olds to adults in their 90's and everyone knew the words and sang along. Very very few artists are ever gifted enough to capture the hearts of people across multiple generation like Peter Paul and Mary. Thank you for the love and memories.

I grew up with this song! Love it still! I am now 70!

When they broke up in 1970 I was heartbroken, thinking that I would never get a chance to see them perform live. Lucky for me, 10 years later or so they got back together. I went to see them in San Francisco. What a show, I think they sang non-stop for about 1 1/2 hours, took a quick break and came back and sang for another hour and a half. Puff was always my favorite song, also my first record that my mother bought for me at a five and dime store. It was a 78 (before 45's were popular) and orange plastic. God I miss the 60's.........

I was 11 when I first saw this video. Peter, Paul, and Mary were my favorite folk group. I am glad we have Peter and Paul. Judy Collins is a favorite folk singer as well. I am glad she is still singing with her ephemeral voice.

I love this song! I remember watching a couple of animated movies about Puff the Magic Dragon on t.v. when I was a kid! My Dad told me that when I was little we'd go out on my Uncle Marty's boat. While in the boat on the river, Uncle Marty would be telling me about Puff the Magic Dragon and the land of Hona Lee! Since I was so young I don't really remember what he spoke to me about but, I'm guessing that Uncle Marty was probably telling me that Puff could be swimming under the boat and we wouldn't even know it! R.I.P. Uncle Marty! I miss you!

I sang this to my little nephew at a hospital shortly after his surgery. He keeps his dragon stuffy by his side.

what a song

Something about seeing legends performer back in these days(60,70, 80’s) hits different than from the 2000’s. Possibly because of the access to their content wasn’t easy where now it’s as easy as DL on your phone. There are more original and authentic musicians in a time when lots of music was viewed as work of the devil. Lol.

No it's not a ode to Marijuana. Peter yarrow wrote it 1959 while @ Cornell. It was the first piece of sheet music I bought.

May 1963, Beauvoir Elementary School Biloxi, Ms. Dragons mesmerize children, now as much as ever. This was my first experience that dragons could be friendly, for a lifetime. PPM had guts to go against the grain. This too is a protest song against stereotyping.

One thing with Peter Paul and Mary. I don't think they ever lip synced any song on TV. Every time I've seen them they always ad-lib something different from recorded versions.

Is it just me or is this version played a half step lower in key (Bb) than other live versions, which sound like key of A.

Would love to meet Paul he lives only a few miles from me. But if I did I am not sure what I would say.
