I admire Reid Hoffman,but he has spent most of his adult life in Silicon Valley and does not understand there are bright talented people who don't want to live in Silicon Valley. Silicon Valley is a self fulfilling prophecy primarily due to the ease of getting funding,not because they have more talented people., hard to find good staff in Silicon Valley. Geographical location is less important in the age of the internet as long as you have a sales presence where there are large markets.
I love Silicon Valley attitudes and values and I'm glad I live here. But these guys are dead wrong when it comes to independent filmmaking. Hollywood squelches most. And the independents, certainly in the documentary world, are coming from other places across the country and that's where they should stay in my view and experience. David Hoffman-filmmaker
