I really related to this episode since I was bullied about my looks( I had a severe overbite) Anyway, I like how it showed that Buddy’s dad was a jerk ( & implied that he was probably abused by him) since children often live what they learn .P.S. It’s funny how I’m analyzing The Brady Bunch but many of the episodes handled issues that children & teens deal with in a sensible manner (which I’m really noticing now as an adult)
This was Season 2, but Tiger was not seen after Season 1. (Alas, the dog who portrayed him had been hit by a car and killed). The producers never ended up getting another dog, so in Season 2, it was just implied that Tiger was there. After this episode, he was never mentioned again.
Well you can see where Buddy gets his bully ideas from - his own father. In another scene where Carol goes to talk to the mom, you can see she is completely cowed by this bully father. Buddy is learning not only to bully the kids at school but his own future wife. His mom is probably abused by his dad so if he follows his father's example he will be an abusive husband.
Hollywood always uses the name Buddy for bullies. The guy that bullied the nerd dude in Christine was Buddy. The guy that bullied the dude in 3:00 o’clock High was also Buddy.
If parents don't take responsibility for their kid's actions, like Mr. Hinton, they should be reported to the police. When Buddy finally got what was coming to him, one must wonder if his parents took legal action after he got his teeth punched in.
The following year, Buddy Hinton became Gordon Anderson on My Three Sons. He went from a confrontation with Peter Brady to passing ball with Ernie Douglas!!!
@@michaelpowell5266 During the last season of THE ANDY GRIFFITH SHOW (1967-68), the actor who played Buddy Hinton also played a bully on one of the series' episodes. The boy that he bullied was the TV son of Ken Berry. Both the boy and Ken would go on to play father & son in the sequel, MAYBERRY R.F.D.. Opie Taylor threatened the bully to leave the little boy alone, and he did. 👏👏👏
This was a take off of a "Dick Van Dyke Show" episode. However, the situation was different. First of all, the "bully" was a girl who happened to have a crush on Richie, and that was her way of showing affection. (This was not revealed until later when she kissed instead of punched him). The father, I believe, was a mild mannered minister who chose to do nothing, and the mother was actually the tougher one.
1:57 that's just it. Kids may tease each other all the time, but it doesn't make it acceptable. Back in the 70's, the parents take care of it when they heard their kid was bullying others. Buddy's dad is the parent they are nowadays. He lets his son get away with bullying because of toxic masculinity and his wife allows this to happen instead of voicing her opinion. 2:41 that is so me.
