Excellent video mate, found this via research for a vehicle in my shop currently, exactly the same fault. I had to quote oil pump and timing belt kit etc this is possibly a very expensive repair. Great information and it's clear you guys are very professional
I am having this absolute problem with my 3008, recalled in April and I took it to them in June for a timing belt review and service. They claimed the belt is fine. It has now been with Peugeot for one week so far with a fault - engine fault, limp mode, oil pressure fault it is insane. They are now looking at the sump to see if there is any debris in there. Only 57K on it.
Wet belt!!!!! UTTER MADNESS, goes against all principle!!!! FORD, PSA, (peugeot, citroen, Vauxhall) VW group, They all have engine's in their line up with this UTTERLY USELESS wet belt in. AVOID AT ALL COST.
Same issue on my citroen c3 2016 1 litre petrol puretech 3 cilinder engine with only 47000 miles sometimes, not often, the warning low oil coming on just for 2. Seconds, very annoying......
That oil looks very dirty. When was it last changed? No wonder the belt went. The oil in these engines must be replaced annually regardless of mileage. I use Total Quartz First INEO 0W 30 which is what Citroën/Peugeot recommends. Also never use engine flush or additives because it attacks the belt. Same result. Not Puretech but pure negligence can cause this problem!
Better still JUST DON'T BUY A VEHICLE WITH THIS ENGINE!!!! MASSIVE repair bills are waiting in the wings if you do and increased service intervals as well as the service intervals have all had to be decreased because of this STUPID DESIGN.
The drives good no engine soinds , only issue is the oil pressure warning light comes on sometimes..even after I topped up the oil? Could it be the oil pump or filter needs changing or? What do you think? Please
Poorly engineered engine. I have a 2015 Citroen C4 grand Picasso with a Puretech 130 engine. The timing belt is supposed to last 10 years or 175k km but it doesn't get there. It's a design flaw. My car broke down at 89k km. Total engine rebuild necessary. Timing belt lost teeth at the crankshaft but didn't brake. Valves crooked, had to replace the cilinder head, oil pump, both camshaft sensors...Remarkably on the sticker that comes with the new timing belt the updated mileage before replacement says 100k km or 6 years only. I'm sueing Citroen over not having informed me about the revised mileage when replacement is due. I didn't get a warning light on until 3 seconds before total brake down of the engine, so it was not like I was driving around with any engine warning light on or anything. Car had always been maintained at the Citroen dealership.
Was it the original belt all the way from 2015? If so it survived a bit longer than usual! They had recalls in several countries, but sometimes these were too late as changing the belt was not a remedy since the engine was already running damaged and unoiled.
Citroëns service schedule these engines is crap. Oil and filter should be done annually regardless of mileage. Only use Total Quartz First INEO 0W 30 oil or equivalent. Never use engine flush or additives because it attacks the belt. Mine is 6 years old(6 oil changes) but only done 12,700 miles. The oil is clean. The belt is fine and within width tolerance. Every video I've seen with belt failure the oil looks disgusting, no wonder there's problems its really contaminated and hasn't been changed ages. Not Puretech pure negligence!
@@tenfootvoyager Who would ever thought about put rubber belt in oil ?? that's stupid... for them it's easy to say ...buy a new belt. yeah it's not their money. Instead of making an engine easy to maintain and reliable just change your oil, or change your belt more times. and it is known that the problem they want to correct (reduce friction and thus reduce consumption) still happens... if it still happens why do they continue with this shitty system of the belt in the oil? Yes it is Puretech. Just go back to the old system...
@tenfootvoyager RUBBISH!!!! I've seen many with no mileage and as new oil in them and the belt has still broken up and with 1st,2nd & 3rd generation belts in them!!!! THE WET BELT IS SUCH A STUPID DESIGN, AS SIMPLE AS THAT.
Are you sure it's a 1,8 engine? If it's the 1,2 Puretech 130 or 110 replace timing belt before 100k km or 6 years whichever comes first. I have the same car and the belt desintegrated. Over 5000euro repair was necessary.
