This Auto gearbox isn't the unreliable Peugeot in house autos. These are actually Japanese man's by Aisin which is owned by Toyota. But like all autos regular servicing in required.
I have 508, 2019 and I had a problem with the electric parking break yesterday. The break didn't want to release no mather what I tried. Then my friend and I removed the smal motor for the handbreak of the wheel, and we found the smal gear inside that was broken. The gears are all plastic except that one, which is metal, but that one was broken. That gear is so small, that it looks like you are fixing a toy of some sort. That thing will breake after 3-5 years I'm sure. But yeah, the car is great in general, I would never step away from buying the new Peugeot line. My friend work as a mechanic, and almost every new car has the similar issues, it's just so many smal things that is really a miracle when everything works :) Thanks for this review, this is a great video!
These modern 3008 auto gearboxes are Toyota/Aisin units that they even use in Lexus and dozen other brands. Proven units. Frankly surprised to hear their manual boxes are not good.
Hi, Both version of the gearboxes have their own specific issues and symptoms start when they are neglected and not regularly serviced according to manufactures recommendations.
I covered 180,000 miles with the eat8 with no problem. The main problem is the timing chain plastic-nylon tensioner. This timing chain is not the timing belt ( different belt ) it has two.
They don’t even need to be neglected or high mileage, mine was less than 3 years old, less than 20 thousand miles and broken, but never fixed. Sold instead
Ad Blue System really saves the Evrionement It Trows Random Fault Codes , preventing the Engine from start There for eliminating Pollution at Source , a non running engine does not pollute
This meant to be a help for someone i guess i have to share my experience because this was randomly popping up in my page, so after owning 3008 gt line for 5 years and over 150k millage in the dashboard in the hot saudi weather i drove it few times for 10hrs straight no break in an over 50 degrees celsius in the most extremist hot waves summer between towns in the desert and this car is a pure definition of reliability i mean with me skipping tons of oil changes there was no major problems beside oil leakage and I totally deserve it i mean its my fault but heres the good news it can be fixed with less than $500 with parts and labors another fault was the A/C freon sensor i guess its super cheap but i found a way to run the car with the cool ac on also there was an issue with the steering wheel it was cracking up randomly and rapidly it was loud in few days but I fixed it with less than $100 labor only no parts needed, the last problem i had was the driver door i replaced the joint i guess or whatever its called so thats it other than that i would absolutely advise you to buy this car it’s absolutely reliable and feels luxury and so hi tech
Just to let you know my Peugeot 308 just died having done 200300 miles! Only problem in the last month , we did religiously service it , it is the second Peugeot which did over 100400 miles when i gave it away , best cars i have ever had and the milage per gallon is fantastic, just bought a new 3008 HDi allure automatic , absolutely FUN and fantastic expecting at least 100,000 from it. Look after it and it will look after you! Previous BMW, VW, owner.
Yep, for me, was the last Peugeot I ever buy. Mine is 2018. Nice, beautiful...and stressful. I am very disappointed by things going to break and almost unable to be repaired… Standing noise in the audio system on driver's side, CB is broken and changed, the passenger door window cleaning blade is very easily broken from tiny clips, no way to be repaired, all must be taken down, including the glass... I buy it for the look, but is a waste of money... And the BMW engines, especially 1.6l THP... avoid them completely, are crap. Read on the MINI forums how many problems have, mine is in the middle...
All modern cars have built in issues like every other consumer product otherwise manufacturers would be out of business. Ford crap, mercs crap, bmw crap, Audi crap, only Japan and some Korean ok. Don't touch Chinese evs.
Weird that you don't even mention the massive issue with the 1.2 pure tech engines where the belt deteriorates and travels around the engine and the engine drinks oil before it dies completely. Peugeot won't even buy back their own cars. They look beautiful but are shockingly bad. Thankfully I got rid of mine before it knackered completely.
The new Chevy Trax is very popular in the US, and it uses a version of the same PSA 1.2 engine that you are referring to. Chevy recommends that the 2 "wet" belts be changed at 150K, but I have serious doubts that the engine will survive that long. By all accounts, it's a decent vehicle for a very good price, but it is a shame that Chevrolet did not spend a few extra dollars to give the engine a decent timing chain and oil pump chain. Unlike the Japanese, American auto companies try to maximize short term profits at the expense of retaining repeat customers.
Got a 5008 gt line 2020 plate. Really like the car but the fault I've had is the fuel gauge. It would say I have 60 miles left, but if I'm on a slight tilt, the car won't start bringing up an engine fault. The problem was not enough petrol but the gauge says different.
I think you a bit outdated actually all auto boxes these days are quite reliable most of the other problems you describe are pretty much any suv on the road
Ad Blue emissions fault, so many problems on the forums on many different models!!! Had my 2018 1.5 allure for a week second hand 59k on the clock when this fault kicked in. Ad blue is full. Lots of people complaining that fixes and software updates only seem temporary. Many complaining also that should of been a recall. If anyone is thinking of buying the car check online for ad blue engine emissions faults before hand. Love the car but this has ruined it for me and I be returning.
Seems similar to my 2015 Ford Focus diesel in terms of problems. I’m looking at replacing it with a 3008 in the near future. I’ve test driven one and was really impressed with the interior. It shows up the BMW X1 and VW Tiguan in my opinion. I will probably go with the 1.2 petrol with a manual gearbox to avoid all the Adblue issues.
@@martingiese4075 The 1.6 THP Turbo Petrol engine has been used by PSA (also used by Mini) for years is Turbo and non turbo form and has had quite a few reliability problems like timing chains and even head gaskets. The 1.2 Puretech has also had some problems like with the wet timing belt. The diesels are generally reliable when maintained properly and do occasional motorway drives to clear the DPF.
So how do you know the auto gearbox has faults when you are driving a manual gearbox car, in late 2018 the auto gearbox was updated to the new 8-speed box so it's different.
I've never heard of a problem with the automatic gearbox. My 308 had the 6 speed auto with 165,000kms - no problems (I do service regularly.)@@ShaaakAR
I asked my mechanic about your comments re the automatic gearbox problems. He is a European specialist. He said there are no difficulties with either the 6sp or 8sp automatic gearboxes. They are extremely reliable.@@ShaaakAR
Amazing all the nice looking SUVs all have problems. The Range Rover Evoque and the Peugeot 3008/5008 😢 think its better sticking with the dull and boring Toyota or Honda's to be hassle free
Brilliant, thanks bud. I'm thinking of buying a new 3008 - I just LOVE the look, the way it drives, and how few of them there are on the road. We get a 5 year warranty in Australia, so hopefully if anything goes wrong, it will (if I buy it) do so in that time.
Same here I just bought a 2022 3008GT 2..0L diesel. The Ad Blue issue did worry me, but as you say I have a 5 year unlimited Kms warranty. Hopefully any issues will occur before that.
@@allanbriggs807 As it turns out, I ended up buying one, but a petrol Allure because I didn't want a sunroof in the Viagra Blue colour. Ask me why I bought it? No idea 🤔😂
Pretty much all Peugeots have numerous faults. As for adbkue I just forced them to buy back my Peugeot Traveller after winning a judgement with the ombudsman, then telling them go to court or repay the full price I paid for the car. They bought it back, tells you all you need to know. Also their engine bay fuse boxes many of them are faulty and require replacing. Which often takes the alternator with it. Oh and the battery management system that tends to fail too... I could go on but buy a Peugeot at your peril, what is infinitely worse is customer service lie to your face, a fact I can prove with freedom of information requests. Yeah save yourself the trouble Peugeots are fault riddled nightmares.
1) best option for this car is to take 1.6 gasoline … rest idc , second option is 1.5 130 that is very good (plenty people have this engines and they are very satisfied)… 2.0 is good for 5008 … for 3008 you don t even need that torque . 2) gear box… any gear box that was abused meets problems after years. 3) AC filter… really?? 😂😂 4) Ad Blue have this issue because of one sensor that is reading the level or because of gas analyser … maybe you need to go to another Service to solve this problem.
Surprisingly my Renault Kadjar has been Good for the Last 8 years It had 0 Faults its still Running on Its Original 8 years Battery and the Stop / Start Still Works indicating battery it still has a good voltage . not a Single Thing went Wrong with it , the car has 45,000 miles 1.6 DCI and it comes with 19 inch wheels
Is it worth paying the Peugeot service plan of £20 a month to get everything taken care of. At the moment I just need the rear brake pads changed but I can't trust any local mechanic so it's either Halfords or Peugeot for me.
i had one on lease the autobox was very juddery---peugeot refered me to a service bulletin that said it was a "characteristic" and they wouldn't fix it under warranty. no more peugeots for me.
I go to two mechanics - One is the "go to" mechanic for Peugeot Australia. He said that the automatic gearboxes are foolproof AS LONG AS THEY ARE SERVICED REGULARLY.@@ShaaakAR
Im looking to buy one of these. i saw one of these at an auction and everything checks out, expect that it has driven bit over 130 000 miles. does anybody know if it can last me long while without havin too much of service.
I can't agree on the automatic gearbox. Its Aisin product that is considered a very good and durable. Also I did not hear about problems with it from Peugeot users.
Eat 8 auto is actually a japanese auto box (see stamp on caseing)Aisin formerly Borg Warner I believe. Not a stupid Elastic band drive like Audi's have.it's boom proof. All cars have micro switches and tons of sensors -these are what goes wrong. The 3008 eat 8 auto is a brilliant drive. German car owners won't agree.Cant please everyone can u😀
Guys if you have adblue prroblems like i did with my 3008 dont bother spending 2-3k with ripoff main dealer just do a remap to disconnect the adblue system the car is 10x better
Just looking at youtube for faults on 3008 as my 2017 plate has begun to misbehave. A year ago the screen with speedo went blank and needed to switch off ignition and restart, at random times the screen will change to French and kilometers. Having spent about an hour last year to update the software and sat-nav the problems went away. Last week after having had NO problems the car started to "judder" the brake warning light came on the engine switched it self off and gave a message of brake fault. Taken in to a garage minor faults were recorded #1 adBlue fault... this had been topped up a week ago. I have been warned about French cars but after a test drive I loved the tech and the drive and still do. Hopping all my problems have gone away after the fault reset as It's been running great this week but I don't think I will be buying another French car. P,S a three tear warranty is not worth a penny at Peugeot dealer.
I had same on my seat leon, but was told by the seat is because i drive to many “small” trips (in town) so the car heats it self to burn somthing of sorry english aint my language 😅
I haven’t had this issue before. I would suggest checking the fault with a dealer just to get an idea and then find a cheaper local garage to do the job for you to save you some $$$$
I own a 3008 GTline (2019) and I had to replace the AdBlue tank. I suffered chaotic issues with it varying from wrong level indication to engine failure light and AdBlue system failure light. But the tank has been replaced for free as my vehicle is still on factory guarantee service. Next issue is air conditioning system. Out of the blue it fails periodically. This happens when it is cold (0°C and below). The warming function goes bust and the system air flow internal deflectors do not function. The cure - you warm up the engine for several minutes, turn the engine off and wait for a minute. Next engine start revives the conditioning system. You cannot drive without it in winter because there is ice buildup on the windshield that makes you effectively blind. The third issue is a key fob sensitivity to cold. At freezing temperatures it just stops functioning entirely. You have to warm it up to return functionality. Or carry it close to your body to keep it cozy and warm :)
I have had one 1.6 HDI for a little over year now. First thing I did was to re-program the adblue system that it always thinks that adblue tank is full. That is the only way you never have to repair it. If I would buy petrol one, I would only use Total Quarz oil (approved by Peugeot) and change it every 15,000kms. That is the way the wet timing belt stays intact for its recommended service period. Belt doesn't like old oil.
It's probably a good idea not to buy one from an auction. That's a gamble in itself. Get one from maybe, Evans Halshaw, the car shop or Arnold Clarke (don't use their finance, get a bank loan)
I think you forgot to mention about 1.2 petrol which needs replacing the whole engine every 20-40k miles. All thanks to that wet timing belt system. About EAT8 I've never seen anyone talking about broken gearbox , many times heard about how reliable they are. But Ive heard hundreds of time about adblue and petrol problems with engine. How much would cost to replace whole petrol engine?
Luckily I have never had the 1.2 petrol and I have heard a lot of negativity about that engine. You probably looking at around 3k for engine change and labour.
Not sure you need to replace the whole engine . It's a wet belt issue yes, if you drive a lot when it needs replacing, it will damage your engine. However, I had wet belt issue on my ford focus 2019 and got to a mechanic asap and they replaced it and my engine is fine
Heh, it all depends on your country regulations but welp, cars officially sold in Russia have no AdBlue at all, and owners of imported cars usually drive till they got AdBlue issue and just remove AdBlue system entirely and then reprogram engine to run without one. As for AT6 it is kind of interesting since we have two sets of recommendation. One from Peugeot - that states that this box is maintenance-free and filled with ATF for entire lifetime. And then there is recommendation from Aisin/Toyota (actual manufacturer of this gearbox) that states that you have to replace oil at certain milage. But then, there is no way to replace filter and 100% of ATF on this box without disassembly - so, ppl here do partial ATF replacement at every ~40-60k km. Also country-specific is petrol engine. Basically we only have 1,6 THP Prince engine as the only option and this engine is prone to all sort of issues... unless you babysit it. That is usually not the case.
The 3008's are extremely reliable cars - especially those with the diesel engines. The earlier 1.2 Puretech engines did have some problems but the later ones are OK.@@biggieblack8158
