Not only up there as arguably the best D&B tune ever released but also an absolute masterpiece of the electronic music scene in general. Only the absolute BEST tracks can combine so many sub-genres and carry it off so beautifully. resulting in that alluringly strange feeling of melancholy and euphoria swirling around in your brain as it takes you on an emotional rollercoaster.

Just dropping by to say 27 years this week since I bought this on a sunny day from Fopp, Byres Road, Glasgow. And it hasn't aged a day. PFM's output 94- 97 is all killer, especially The Mystics and his remixes of Mandalay - Flowers Bloom, JMJ and Richie - Free la Funk and best of all, St Etienne - The Sea

Truly haunting ..a real classic...make a brilliant soundtrack ...has a cinematic vibe ..

i used to float around my bedroom listening to this after smoking loads of buckets with my mates. happy times. first time i heard it was on ltj bukems essential mix on radio one.

ABSOLUTE QUALITY TUNAGE!!! if you were one of the lucky ones to hear it out on a sound system made to shake your inside's then you know! A true builder slowly taking you to paradise on a wave of bass and beats then the drop at 4:58 BLISS!!! Reminds of my childhood watching western movies at my grandparents for some strange reason. i use to have a Randall tape with this on and i remember one sunday after Dreamscape chilling with some whacky backy in the bath with this playing seemed like the longest 8 and half minutes ever!!! (lost in the music) PFM What a Legend!!!

My friends from back in the day come back to this track from time to time, it has a special place in our hearts and reminds us of when we were 19. You can’t live in those memories because they rob your now, but it’s good to be reminded and grounded thru music.

In all honesty this has to be one of the finest drum and bass tunes ever, just as good 22 years later.

I remember owning this record on a mix CD, this record was mixed in perfectly with Salt Tanks - Eugina, so much so that for years I used to think PFM's Western & Salt Eugina's was all one record.

Bukem made timeless tunes, without using many samples, and to this day stands as the king of atmospheric D&B. We used to call it intelligent D&B back in the day. Never went down too well if you'd drop it at a D&B gig but defo one for chillin out to. The version with Conrad giving any MC a run for their money is absolute classic.
