Thanks for the review of your build . 👍I gave up on the metal rubbing metal engine kits . I build my own style of Motorized bicycle. So simple a cave man could do it.
Awesome I know you’ll work out all the bugs and I love how you’re learning other motors. Been watching the phantom lately! Hopefully soon I get closer to making my part selections. Dreams!
I believe the carb comes with a 75 jet which starves it up top. I'm on a 85 in NYC, feels great and serves my purpose I rarely go open wide throttle as the traffic/streets don't permit me to get up that fast... But Yea, upjet that bofeng, 2nd to bottom clip on needle was my sweet spot also🤝🏼
Thank you for commenting. The cold and rainy weather fot the last month didn't permit me riding. My exhaust started leaking a lot worse since then. It's gonna need some work.
IM looking to build one of these in the future Beach cruiser OG style😏. AS A NEWBIE, What size motor should I start with that would be user friendly, Easy to learn from, before I upgrade?
@@lovebbqnoles367 Honestly most the cheap 50cc china dolls are all the same. Must look over the ports & make sure you get them piston rings on the correct, adjusting the carb is all done once she's fired up, good luck sir & my apologies for the late response
Hello, yes I'm planning on doing a piston port swap for this engine. Not because I need to but for the fun of it. Once the Phantom top end takes a crap I'm gonna try sandwiching a 54mm MS460 jug in there. That would be nice. Thanks for your comment.
Looks good I don't know what version it is but they've been having a lot of issues with them engines something about the wrest pin bearing don't know exactly but good luck with yours ride safe
@@Matthew-wj8cm cool I hope it lasts a long time for you I was going to get one of them phantoms but that was v2 and thay were still having lots of issues so I purchased a minaralli hybrid s##t out of the skillet and into the frying pan that sucker was all messed up it took lots of love and asking a lot of questions to get it fixed halfway decent my next one I think will be a stihl cylinder build I've even heard of someone putting that on there phantom like v1 anyway good luck it looks awesome ride safe
I have the phantom 85 V3 and it's running great! You should install a g2 reed valve and a pwk carb! You will get a lot more power outta it and if you can find someone or pay a garage to make you a good expansion chamber exhaust it really opens it up and I have a lot of experience on motorized bikes and it's definitely the fastest and I've had other engines with every performance part they make and they still weren't faster than the phantom 85
I built one with my friend. But he was reving the phantom too high so he zadřel it... He bought a new piston set so it's all good now. This time he has to break it in more carefully. I have a yd 100 on my bike and that's like the top reliable kit id say. It has a little less power than the phantom but still crazy for a bicycle. I moded the pipe so it sounds better and somehow it has more power than with the stock one. I recomend carefull break in with the phantom 85. One guy went 80 km/h on it so no wonder he zadřel.
If you push the motor A LOT, run it 40-1, and don't do break in AS STRICT AS POSSIBLE, it'll blow in maybe a month, I've had mine for a month or two and she looks and rides flawlessly
@@fabianse So what are you saying I should do? I already pushed it pretty hard on a 44, going about 60 kph. I looked into the cylinder the other day and there are many minor scratches. You see them but can't feel them.
1996 ish Catalina Superior. Czech brand of bicycles. I love the frame myself but coming from somenone else is nice. Thank you. The handlebars are from a kick scooter of some kind. I like the stance.

Get a standard 66(80cc) engine. Those are the Best Bang for your buck. Cheap parts too. Once you get more experience, a YD100 engine is a great one. Love that one. Phantom 85 is just a bit of a headache for newbies like me.
No doubt, I'm just too lazy to do anything and too broke to buy anything at this point. It has developed some scratches on the exhaust side from heat I suppose. It's still running strong though.
Řeší to?
K některým kitům dostaneš i kartičku, kterou si můžeš vyplnit a předložit kontrole. Doufám, že jsem pomohl. Jinak přeji ať se daří. Naše hobby je fajn
Hello ,,your not going to get any high end out of that sprocket it's to big for that engine your going to need a 32 ,36 ,,then you'll have some top end
I recently put the engine on a frame with a 36t. It was faster (65 km/h vs 55 km/h with 44) but not what I hoped to achieve. The pedal threads got messed up on that frame so I can't ride it now.
You do know the motor is a two-stroke two-stroke engine so you have to put oil in the gasoline mix like a weed eater or something reason the crankcase doesn't hold oil probably because it'll cost too much to manufacture and be reliable and cheaper just to have a two-stroke model engine. Plus on a smaller engine you will need valves this makes it more efficient when it comes to smaller engines being two stroke
Umm, yeah I know it's a two stroke. I feel like I'm doing something wrong since none of my cylinders lasted more than 2 years. I'm running 30ml per liter of oil in all my machines.
No asi mých 108 kg bude příčinou, kdo ví. Asi potom dám větší karburátor a zkusím najít výfuk a uvidíme.
:). Ale tak to staci ne? :) tech 63
@@frantisekskudrna9232 no, ja bych chtěl aspoň 80 z toho. Hoši s Minarelli válcema daj 80 vpoho a já bych jim chtěl stačit.
Držím mix 1:25 a překvapivě skoro vůbec nekouří.
I didn't feel like I needed to. The engine pulls just fine although a little obnoxious at cruising speeds yes. I'm keeping it stock for as long as I need to. Thank you for the comment
buddy not to be a boomer but, how can you not be impressed when you have chain slack and running without exhaust gasket?! to be fair your review is pointless because the bike wasn’t properly built and tuned.
@@Matthew-wj8cm once you get the tension right weld the bracket to the frame, do not drill a hole because it will compromise the structural integrity. all that vibration will mess your tension really fast unless it’s welded. you seem like a cool dude, just need some research and you will do fine.
@@yh1669 thanks for the reply 👍 I checked out your channel 😀 you are a troll and a sad one at that 💯 if you can post a comment than you can post a video.
change the plug, put a chainsaw plug and itta run almost twice as fast even know it's shorter my 80 barely runs 30 with stock plug but hits over 50 with chsinsaw plug
This is the ultimate version of the russian D engines. It has 52mm bore, 40mm stroke (85 ccm displacement) and about 3 hp. I love it. It still runs strong. Thank you for commenting
@@Matthew-wj8cmactually , in fact, your answer sounds very pleasant for a Russian person. I'm glad that someone treats this engine with love. I like them too. As a child, I took my grandfather for a ride on a bicycle with such an early series engine. I think that initially it’s not sad to admit this for me personally since I come from the USSR, but it seems to me that if we look deeper into history we will understand that perhaps this is a copy of some ancient German internal combustion engine. although the USSR had many of its own good developments, and in fact among internal combustion engines as well. but basically they were all intended for military equipment, which to this day, unfortunately, is killing residents of the former USSR... somehow I’m in the wrong direction. It’s a pity that there are problems with mail between our countries, I wish I could send you an amazing carburetor that was once made at the NAMI Institute... for the sports version of the bicycle engine.
@@Matthew-wj8cm They are also rare among us. although I want to say that Chinese copies of these engines are very good. I’m currently building a project on Chinese copies. By the way, I have long wanted to disassemble the carburetor from NAMI to see how it works
