🏁👌👂👍💪👏👏👏 You're turning me into a fan of these, Normally not a fan of cylinder and head as one unit, But the sound is more throaty & deeper sounding, Nice job on the early catch on that ring breakage 👍🙏smart to shut it down right away, I'd like to apologize for my previous behavior about these on your page, my bad. 🙏✌️
Glad someone is getting enjoyment outta my video's. Yeah I'm not a fan of the one piece jugs either but it makes for less leaks as far as gaskets go but a pain when you just wanna check the piston. No worries man I just like to stay positive on everything.
I just stumbled across your channel & realized you're cruising my old neighborhood lol....I'm over by Burlington Iowa now, it's basically a mini P-town. Be careful...You mentioned cracked frames. Most cheap Walmart bikes have a weight limit of 300-350 lbs & that's meant for pedal speeds. If you're pushing 300 + 30lb kit weight + 35 mph with no suspension = broken parts.
love the way it sounds man,, thanks for the update!! I gotta get one soon, Im enjoying this PK80 tho, nothing crazy just stock, gets me back n fourth to work..I wonder about the rings tho!! Could be just coincidence, or maybe they are weak? I did hear some are snagging on the ports?? some guys were sanding them down a bit, to smooth out the edges a bit!! looking forward to the next update to see how its goin!! -Ray
I also love the sound it doesn't sound like a weed Wacker going down the street. I think in v1 and v2 they were snaging because of the bushing wearing out causing a lot of play with the piston
@@jray4957 nice to know i wish i Will have the same luck has you i really want my Racing motorized bike to work because my past experiences with these motors were a nightmare
@@jeremyclarkson6293 I do not get why people have problems with these motors.i had mine for yr goin strong with no problems from day I got it.i do not do much maintenance because it never needs much.just quick but checks and safty, oiling that pretty much it.
@@soundqubedkiller5885 yes. Also went with a SAE660 bushing. Running a G2 reed that I modified to match up with the phantom intake port. TM24 mikuni & a jog pipe that I modded to fit. It rips.
@@soundqubedkiller5885 its tore down currently. Case gasket was letting oil leak out & the exhaust gasket had split. Waiting on a new 1. I'll get a vid up when I get it back together.
On the fence w ordering myself 1 of these phantom kits. I'm in Manhattan & don't want the cops messing w me, although it seems like nowa days they're not caring much what goes on🤔... Dope ride tho, stay safe🤘🏼
If you were to get pulled over all you have to say is its a 49cc. There's no way for them to tell. Their great engines when they stay together. I don't have enough miles on my v3 to recommend it.
Got mine! But blew 1st one cause bottom crank was not aligned straight, no piston issue!, mini bearings seemed to have done trick !, so far so good on breakin! ,Running 20:1, 2 tanks worth!, then going to 40:1
I'm looking for info trought internet and youtube about the zt 85. It is a nice cylinder kit and improved the stock motor power for shure. I found a guy who explained the ring issues on this cylinder and it is almost imposible to not broke or scratch it with both rings and it is because of the shape. The transfer holes are positioned exactly in the point where the rings must close.
Hey James , Joe Dale here a, well guess I'm going to take your advice and dump the 460 build for the yd100 since I can't find anyone to build me a pipe for it. Now your engine is a yd in this video correct? And you have been climbing them beautiful Tennessee hills with it. How much work will I need to do to get the same performance out of one. How does that pipe work for you? Was it a big help? Thanks for the help and information you have given me the last few weeks and the great videos.let me know what I need to do to get the low end grunt and top end speed you have bro.after all that's why I wanted the ms460 . Also I'm sure I've saved a few hundred bucks switching to the yd instead. Thanks again bro
So basically this engine has a yd100 bottom end and a ms460 head with a bigger piston over stock which gives it more torque. I run all 36 tooth sprokets on my bikes for multiple reason. The main reason being theses 2 stroke engines like to 4 stroke if not under load. Second reason is i prefer top speed over torque. Now this particular pipe was stock for the kit but doesn’t really add performance but it does sound awesome
Recent study before ordering 10 kits. Yes it's the yd100 bottom end with the ms460 modded clone and the piston is a ms380 cloned. Thanks for posting the ring measurements.
negative! haha i couldnt help myself. im also building a sick phantom 85 v3 BRAAAAAAAP ps might help to gap the rings a bit more than stock because the engines usually heat up quick
This engine is version 3. It now has a needle bearing instead of a bushing. They seem to be holding up so far. If your going for reliability I would go a different route
Rings snapping is common on these. It’s called ring snag. It’s bicycle engine fault. The ports are too wide causing the rings to barely catch in the ports and eventually snapping them. Email bicycle engines and they should get you right
Mine lasted less then 10 miles. Wouldn't start. Pulled cylinder and piston was broken at the window and around the ring. Rings was good and so was the cylinder. This was built from the case up. New bearings and a Stihl piston. Think the guy who built it made the window to close to the edge. 32:1 and didn't even go full throttle. Just installed a new 380 piston. Not using a window or reed no more.
I don't think the stock piston rings are bad. I'm pretty sure I cracked one while installing the jug. But these are the specs you need for the piston rings 52mm x 1.2mm. I got lucky and found them at my local lawmorepair shop but you can also get them on ebay. Best of luck to you
Bro it really doesn't matter what tooth sprocket is on there that engine is going to perform till it's abilities within the warranty specs you understand as long as it does that it's fine
The size of the sprokets does actually affect the performance of this engine. With the bigger sprokets it made this engine 4 stroke almost constantly. That's the reason I went back the the smaller sproket and makes a big difference In performance
I would like to see you riding cause I’m a big guy 6”2 260 so I want to buy a motor but I didn’t think such a small thing would pull me so I wanted to see if you were as big as me. And also can you recommend a good source to buy this stuff and learn? Oh and also you said three weeks on your first video what’s the average a motor like this should last
Im almost 300 pounds and this motor pulls me just fine. But with that being said this motor is alot bigger than just a cheap ebay kit. These specific motors arent good for reliability but fun while they last. I learned everything about these bikes on youtube
Hello, how does it look after a year? Is it still running? I plan to buy this version 3, but the problem is that in our country only the engine is sold and no spare parts, so I am deciding between the phantom and the Chinese alternative. Could you make a video? Thx
just a heads up. you should stop at stop signs. because kids watch your vids and i been pulled over alot of time just rolling threw them. keep up your vid i like what you do.
Thanks i appreciate it. I definitely see your point about the stop signs and kids. In my town cops dont care about it unless your just completely reckless
I just got mine installed and everything looks fine but when I brake or hit a bump the front tire rubs the exhaust a little bit and I tried moving it around and there's nothing I can do. I'm going to go to a garage and see if they will heat it up and bend it a little for me
@@soundqubedkiller5885 tried everything and it still rubs. It's ok just sitting there but when I use the front brake or hit a bump it rubs so I mounted the one mount different and now it's ok. It's close but it doesn't rub so now I can ride and get it broke in
@@soundqubedkiller5885 I have two other engines so I'm going to check yard sales this summer and try and find two bikes cheap and if I do then I'll switch the phantom over to another bike
@@Westhelockpicker Loosen the motor mounts and slide the motor down a little bit that'll put a little bit more angle in the motor and you'll get clearance for the exhaust pipe
I actually wrecked this bike last summer. But got it back going not to long ago. It's just been super cold where im at recently. I will make a update video soon and show what it looked like when i wrecked
Yes but for this particular engine it would have to be custom made. The stock pipe sounds alot better than the cheap Chinese kits. But could gain from a expansion chamber
Lose the mags, you'll thank me later, they need to go away, when they fail they sometimes literally explode, they're made out of some kind of mystery Chinese metal, no quality control and no consistency from one set to another. If you notice they almost never put them on motor ready bikes anymore. Somebody try to warn me, I said some stupid s*** like I've never had a problem, a couple months later one detonated without warning when i was doing 30mph. 1 sidewall almost completely peeled off, tire and tube started wrapping around the bicycle frame.
We fucking shouldn't have to pay more when all they did was take less material off of The jug and charges more money you know I spent $300 on his engine if they want to reimburse me the $40 that I got to spend to make it right what the hell I could have just bought a yd 100 and save 120 something dollars
So your brakes are front rotor and you are using the pedals as the rear brakes like a oldschool bike? That is a really cheap bike btw how does it perform? Those wheels are not stock you must have ordered those custom online. And that is the 300 dollar motor kit? That thing is insane and probably not legal on the street. I bet its super fun though lol. I woulda chosen a more sturdy frame. My 1500w ebike requires torque arms for the rear motor I'm not sure why gas powered bikes don't need anything like that (or do they?). It sounds like a recipe for disaster though with that large of a engine and that small frame. I have no idea though. A 98 dollar bike with a 300 dollar kit that can go 55 or more mph sounds unsafe to me though.
This bike currently only has front brakes which is the safest thing. No back brakes the rear wheel is a free wheel like a BMX bike. The wheels aren't custom there's a few companies that sell them online. Yes it's the 300 dallor kit. It's definitely not legal but if you were to get pulled over you just say it's a 49 cc. But I've never had a problem with cops and I've definitely flew past a few and they don't care. Only times cops mess with you on these is if your weaving through traffic being stupid.so far this is the cheapest frame I bought but it has lasted longer than ones that cost double the price so I'm happy with it
@@bolt3729 irs takes alot to get them to go that fast. The average person doesn't need to go that fast lol. 45 is already sketchy enough on a bike i could only imagine any faster.
@@soundqubedkiller5885 yea makes sense. I completely agree. I wouldn't doubt 45 is sketchy and yea any faster is probably too fast for a bicycle. I've just wondered how they manage those speeds and what they start with. Thanks tho.
@@bolt3729 allot of work, degree wheel/timing carb jetting & the right expansion chamber pipe is key, Mine has gone 67mph. With a balanced crank falcon 911 cylinder & Smolik Performance head and a DLH saf racing clutch. On ghetto bike 26"wheels 10gage spokes, everything is heavy duty to be able to accommodate these speeds.
I buy that motor but unfortunally i never get the motor set up!! I firts motor the rings get broke and i buy another cylinder head and. The nuts on the. Top engine head always get loose when i start!? It i am pretty sure the other cylinder head get bad again
@@soundqubedkiller5885 ill doo everything like how they explain on yhe video!!!! The head nuts still geeting lose with every start of the motor i do no have time to open the cyclinder but i am pretty sure the cylinder and piston its damage again
@@jeremyclarkson6293 the best thing to do is replace the bushing swap a ms460 piston and dont window it and remove the reed valve. The window in the piston makes it extremely weak
