absolutely sir! Even Neil Peart of Rush regards him as a virtuoso so that alone is a pretty high compliment given how brilliant Neil is behind the kit!
Phil, I went yo see you on your last three tours (in Miami and Fort Lauderdale) and I still remember that memorable night of 23 September, 2007 when Genesis played in Washington DC. All I can say is that your music is second to none. And like that man told you... "we miss you, Phil". We really do!!!!!
Love the list that cited him as an influence starting with Beyonce! Phil is my favorite singer, nobody in the business has ever touched my life like he has. His music is great and timeless,it'll be impossible to decide which song of his is my favorite! Hit after hit after hit!
Phil you are my lifetime hero, I love you very much, you are the best. Take no notice of what them wankers say about you. Remember "Father to son". Well there will always be "Son to Father". You have millions of fans, sons and daughters, so remember... "just look over your shoulder I ll be there"
I met Phil at a hairdresser in Guildford. It was at the time Genesis was doing 4 nights at Wembley. I said hi, he said, "hello". He is a Star. Of propositions that go beyond our understanding. Ok
You do make a good point. Despite his health issues he doesn't have to be the drummer. He can still sing and they can record a new album in the studio and not go on a tour. It would still be great unless people have moved away from that type of music.
That's why he took so much time to come back, he couldn't see himself on stage without touching a kit. I think it was the other guys who convinced him to move on and keep singing, especially now that his son is drumming with him.
Yea it is fav sad, I mean from this video he looks a lot older and really fragile! It is a shame at the time he didn't have a new hip done/stuff for his joints or something and did it a bit at a time then he prob wouldn't be like he was from then till now! Where you from Susanna? I'm from UK in England-Kent!
Being one of the biggest Genesis /Phil fans, it wouldn't really bother me if Genesis or Phil didn't go back on the road, now that Phil is out of retirement. However, it would irritate me if Genesis and/or Phil didn't release a brand new album after all the hype and anticipation of 1) Phil coming out of retirement and 2) the reissue campaign.
Phil Collins, Ginger Baker and Alan White have all ended up with back problems from years of drumming. Such great players and so sad that they all have ended up with awful pain as a result!
I'm a massive fan of this man and would rather remember I'm in his prime performing in the cage medley including suppers ready in 9/8 .leave it Phil please
im one of his fan.😊please i want to meer him?where is he residing right now?can i have sponsors here? sir im your avid fan here in the PHILIPPINES...COME HERE..
I feel sure Phil would not go near the BBC and these two, Munchetty and Stayt, after they sneered at our flag and the Queen’s portrait during an interview with a government minister. Phil is a patriot.
people Liam Gallagher from Oasis took the piss out of Phil but some people don't get it for Genesis he wrote with Tony and Mike songs like "man on the corner" "abacab" "land of confusion". serious political songs but with his solo stuff it was home personal love songs relationships. he had both sides (pun) that's why he was a genius. I hope he retires does a few charity gigs his voice is loud he can never reach the pitches he used too. but my youth always have the albums "face Value" hello I must be going" "no jacket" "but seriously" "Both sides". Phil Hugh Padgham Virgin Records were a magic team.
One of the endearing qualities of Phil Collins is that he always had a very everyman aura. The way he dresses here borders on being underdressed for an interview. When you look at how he has declined from 2016 onwards it is a bit sad to see though how rapid this has been. Some of it by no means his own fault, but some of it also self-inflicted cause by excessive drinking and being in a bad relationship.
From an interview with Orianne Collins: on the court filings not only include allegations that Collins abused pain killers, but a detailed account of the squalor he fell into, including claims that he stopped brushing his teeth and refused to shower for almost a year. In those documents Orianne says the smell became unbearable and that by 2019, he was incapable of having sex. She claimed: "Philips’s stench became so pervasive that he became a hermit, refusing to interact personally with any people."
Phil looks 75 even though he's only 65. And he can't play drums anymore because of years of bad posture behind the kit. Maybe he should retire for good and enjoy the good life, it's well deserved.
It's comical to see these presenters use civilised and conservative words to describe certain people - in this instance when mentioning to Phil about the backlash and insults he's received from people over the years.....let's just call them what they are which is 'jealous wankers!'. This man has had a world famous career as one of the truly greatest musicians and yet noodle dicks such as the cunts as mentioned just can't hack that they are deadbeats! Oh, 'Something Happened On The Way To Heaven' is in my opinion, Phil's career defining and best ever record and my absolute favourite of his, period!
I'm a HUGHE fan of him, but I can't stand this "he can't drum anymore"-talk. Man, he's probably the best singer within the history of music. There are tons of good drummers, everyone could do the job - who cares? But there's also ONE Phil Collins, and that's one heck of an awesome singer, performer, songwriter. Nobody should care about him not being able to play the drums - I want him back on stage anyways!
He thinks of himself more as a drummer than a singer and even as a solo artist he always played drums on his albums and live. Its the thing that he has been doing all his life, he was Genesis drummer and started to sing by need more than anything else.
why a "black bellman", not just a "bellman" ?....and i know this was a few years ago but if he had got / get a different style glasses he wouldnt have looked as old, proper grandad glasses them !
He doesn't look well at all. Credit to him for his career but..in all honesty his solo stuff attracted a lot of criticism. It was Gaga poppy crap unless you like that kinda stuff. His voice after a while became really cringe worthy. I think he ruined many good songs fronting Genesis..his voice hasn't got good range or tone in my opinion.
