This is some video that I shot while staying in Baguio City for several days in May of 2006. It was an amazing city ... well worth the visit ... and I'm going back!
What a beautiful city. I can't wait to visit Baguio when I finally go to the Philippines. My wife will be the perfect tour guide for me because she's a Filipina. She's always talking about going to Baguio with me.
The Philippines is a beautiful country with friendly people. I went to Baguio City, Metro Manila, and Boracay...I can honestly say that's the BEST beach I have ever seen in my life! I was there a few years ago and loved it a lot, by the way I'm Salvadoran.
thanks for posting this.i just moved here in pittsburgh from baguio and this is my connection everytime i'm homesick.indeed, home is where the heart is...
i missed baguio the way it used to way back 1996- 98. u can see flowers every where, every corner of the city is decorated with flowers, john hay is so green; trees are so abundant; landscape is so amazing, and the city is not that populated.
I was in Bagio City a couple of times in 1982. I didn't recognize a thing! Things sure have changed. I remember the winding roads, the mountaintop views and the large lake where folks relaxed. Stayed at a guesthouse with a nice small garden with small rooms. I walked the grounds of the palace that was there and remember that very small airstrip on the top of the mountain. It was a beautiful fresh aired event that I still remember fondly.
i grew up in Baguio city and studied in University of Bagiou but migrated to Ontario,Canada with my families, just watchin this video was a blast from the past!
I just came back from baguio a few days ago...i didn't think that the pollution would be so much! I stayed at Pico La Trinidad but I always go to SM Baguio City...anyways...i missed it already
Im an Architect student, and i wanna take part in redesigning and reconstructing Baguio city into a modern city.. Baguio looks old and seems like forgotten
I'm one of the lucky man who can say the best time to live in Baguio City ( MY BIRTHPLACE) was during the 1970s and early 1980s. Today ? Baguio is no longer the beautiful city i grow up with. Too much Commecialization and POLLUTION.... Really sad that the new generation will never see the baguio city i saw during my childhood years.
BAGUIO need to start a CAMPAIGN to RE-PLANT all of the pine trees that they cut down. I was so disappointed when I went back home. it wasn't the same city that I remember as a child...take back the city and plant those trees.
yup i miss baguio city too... i used to be a taxi driver wayback 2002,pls do come back in our city! its a great place to stay for a long vacation too... Texas instrument is manufacturer of integrated circuits commonly used for computers and even missile circuit parts... ;)
during the cold months(starting nov to early feb),the AVERAGE is about 15'c. The summer(later part of march til early june)-average is about 20'c. It was much lower by about 3degrees 25 yrs ago. From a long time resident of baguio
thank you so much for sharing i was there in july 2006 brouhgt back so many good memories and i again i thank you hope you got to go to the batanical gardens peace
thanks for sharing your video. there is only one baguio city in the whole wide world. SM and center mall are additions to the character of baguio. i go to sm to eat and shop and center mall for bowling. i saw some people doing taekwondo or something also. its all good depends on ones taste and interest. baguio city will always be baguio city... mabuhay...
Neat Vid. February would probably be the best month to visit Baguio =) And looking at the sidewalk vendors, makes me wonder if they make enough for dinner =?
you can find apt. for $250per month plus or minus depending on the way you prefer and $10 per day for food is morethan enough even lesser if cook ur own food.
@1127pia while you have very nice suggestions of places to visit, i think this wasn't made to be THE OFFICIAL video to "reliably" showcase Baguio. this is more of a video of the uploader's experience there. so who are you to tell when to capture videos? seriously, you could have suggested in a humble way so to have saved you from bad impression.
Oh--you also got a view of the University of the Cordilleras when you mentioned you got busted by security. You should really come back--there's so much more to see. If you don't mind crowds it's also good to come back during the Panagbenga Celebration held every February. There's a lot of flowers in bloom and all sorts of events in the city.
First: NICE VIDEO!!! NICE!!! SECOND: "Baguio Airport" is actually called "LOAKAN AIRPORT. THIRD: Texas Instruments is not a campus. It is a corporation that makes micro chips and their Baguio Site is actually their main factory in APAC. PEACE!
as far as i read in some ads the rent is 100USD to 200USd...300USD for the food is enough budget for one month....the house in lot would be 20,000USD up...
wow!!! filipinos are really cool im from chicago!!!! my name is sarah.,.,., the place in the video is beautiful.,.,., ive never been in philippines.,., but im researching about ur country.,.,.,
Sewage treatment plant.
Hi HumanEye, yeah ive been to Baguio and many other places in the Philippines as i am married to a filipina, when your filming from the hotel balcony am i right in thinking that the hotel is the hotel Beniz.
I enjoyed watching your video since I have never been to baguio city. Where's the exact location of the SM mall and the airport?. I might go to baguio city in the future. Thanks for uploading your video.
used to live there, now i live in austrlaia. used to take that road lots of times a week to go to city :P its just one of the routes to city / session road
@hanzmariano Hindi ah. Marami kaming mga Igorot, Akala lang kasi ng mga hindi taga-Cordillera eh ang mga Igorot ung naka bahag.. Anong taon na? How do I know? I'm an Igorot! :D
lol same here i dont like head ache while going up with the zigzag, serpentine like road. But Omg Baguio is a crazy place though, id like to live there. The SM is crazy nice too, and tourist spots, and ladies so hot!.
@TheLarbacmc You can buy a condo with 22,000 dollars and your monthly SSS pension is so much to spend on cost of living......its so cheap to live there.People are very kind.Nice wheather.International standard of education. Or ... with your 778 Pension you can rent an apartment and can live to sustain you for your food..I am not kidding especially if you are frugal or trifty to spend your money. that is so much already..
Hi tigerprince, u ask, r Filipina's loving & devoted partner, in my own experience yes, im from the UK & i certainly wouldn't go back 2 a British woman, i noticed that ur Canadian, my wife sister also married a Canadian & both live @ Christina Lake, also from my experience a sincere loyal Filipina will want u 4 exactly as u describe yourself, loving honest & caring guy, a good tip, if the girl your talking about wont let u shower her with gifts or spend money on her uve found sum1 u can trust.
AND BY THE WAY! The words that u just told me is one of the example why it makes us look bad/... those words... Im sorry if I didnt make my sentence clear.. SO i really understand wat u feel.. I might do the same thing anyways EXCEPT NOT SAYING THOSE BAD WORDS..the alternative like Freaking or Gosh dang u! Well, Have a nice day! Oh by the way..DO u have a friendster or myspace?
TroyBilt007, ive been to many cities in the Philippines and Baguio is one of them, your right in saying that they are poorly ran but as for prostitutes on every corner and in every bar if you go looking for them what do you expect.
u shud hav gone also to d military academy right next to the airport... nd another must..watching baguio people(lots of them behind baguio centermall) preparin the "pinikpikan," which they reputedly call "killing me softly"(literally slowly beating up a chicken until it dies a brutal death, blood coagulates within resulting to tastier meat).. moreso r food stalls at streets near centermall also, lyk Sagada Lunch, whre u cud get to order weird stuffs lyk dog meats and brains...vry tasty ndeed!
but now there are houses every where, i did not see even a single flower in the street, johnhay is like green to brown and the landscape is not that spectacular the way it is used to. i think the mayors, governors? who handle baguio for the last 12 years was so corrupt and irresponsible
