Philippines in the late 50s and early 60s was beginning to become a progressive country. Let it be a lesson to all countries, that corruption and incompetent leaders will destroy a nation. A very good example is the Philippines where corrupt and incompetent leaders govern the nation to poverty and economic disaster. Thanks for sharing your wonderful short video.

It was Marcos who destroyed our country. The Philippines was one of the ten countries with booming economies in Asia in 1950 to 60s. When Marcos took the presidency in January 1966, it was the beginning of the collapse of the Philippine Economy.

My Tata was one of those people, he was later granted citizenship to the US and for that I can’t thank him enough. Our family had 32 hectares of land which was stolen easily through corruption, 3rd party militias used to roam and target my relatives because of money. But during WWII my Tata didn’t realize his life would change. He not only saved several US military men, he also assisted the Igorot tribe in taking down the Japanese, he watched them decapitate the Japanese with their headhunting axes. No matter what, Filipinos still find a way to survive, no matter how harsh of a life they go through. I appreciate my Tata so much, if it wasn’t for his heroism we would not be living the life we have today.

This type of videos are made so that old generation would see and learn something from the past, It isn't supposed to be wished upon by someone thinking it was a better life back then rather than today. All this people did there best for future generations to appreciate the present. For the old and wise people who are still living today, this video was made for them to feel nostalgic and see how the world has changed because of them Because of their efforts for future generations that also paved way for us today.

Life of the filipino featured in this video is very, very familiar to me. Means of livelihood is agricultural. Fishing is mostly the source of food with vegetables grown in the backyard. Life was very simple. There was no roads connecting to other towns. No vices, no drugs, no syndicated crimes & people know each other even in far flung barrios. Parents tried their best for the education of their children. Many became professionals & it changed the life of the filipino family. Politicians in those days became rich who engaged in logging who easily got forest concession. Americans were also in logging harvesting the old grown forest trees. People will often say that "ohh what could've been". But here's the thing, we can't change what happened. I know it's easy to wish for a time machine and change one little thing in our history that we think will have the best change for our country. And it's easy to lose hope either. We will never know what it was truly like unless we have seen it for ourselves, even those who did will think differently of each other just like how we are now. Different opinions, different beliefs, different ways of thinking. We all want what's best for our country, and that's what our leaders tried to do.. emphasis on "tried". But forgetting what happened in the past. What does it take to run a country like ours?

Imagine the air quality in Manila in the 1950s! I really hope that leadership have thought longer term and is preparing to deal with health issues associated with constant exposure to the air of one of the most polluted cities in the world. Plus the significant increase in obesity (and amongst the poor with limited resources to afford good medical care) and the health issues associated with that. I really hope they increase education and awareness significantly!

Now we are facing a new problem in our agriculture! And that is the rice tarification Law! Our farmers are experiencing the lowest farm gate price that nobody care about their loss? This will leave them without any other choices, but to stop their rice production activities, in favor of imported rice! our country will be come dependent on foreign products! This is bad to our economy! That the supply & demand of our rice will always be depend based on the dictates of those foreign rice traders! The NFA stated that the law would allow private traders/0r companies to import rice without being subject to regulation to stabilize prices leading to uncontrolled increases in the price of rice!

Paranaque beaches was like Batangas and Ilocos.
