WOW! Great video. At first I searched for whether or not I can make only milk with this kind of machine, found no answer so I gave up. But in the process I found your video, I thought I might as well watch it. I kinda knew how the lattego works, but I wanted to see closely the parts(my machine haven't arrived yet). So I watched this video, and just when I wanted to close it then came the answer to my original question. Thanks!

@ Andras: The 5400 model has a "Milk Froth" option under "other drinks" button. On earlier models, the workaround to get only milk froth is to select "ground coffee" and then make a latte without actually adding any coffee.

Just got my machine a few days ago, and wondered why the milk in the container was cold even though I just made a latte. Now it makes perfect sense. I like the machine so far, my only complaint is I wish the water and milk temperature could be increased more. I programmed it to the highest temp possible, and I still wish it could be hotter.
@BryanKlein
@BryanKlein 3 года назад
I'm glad the video helped clear that up. 🙂 Some tips for Max temp: 1) Preheat the cup you are brewing into with the Hot Water option. Let that run for a few seconds, swirl the water in the cup, pour it out then run the drink option you want into it. 2) Get a double wall glass mug to drink from, instead of ceramic or stoneware mugs. I have really enjoyed this one from Amazon www.amazon.com/dp/B07QF2TF4D 3) If all else fails, I'd say nuke it for 30 seconds after brewing to add a bit more energy to it. Hope this helps! 🙂

Was the half and half better for foaming than while milk (3.25%)? I find the whole milk just didn’t get dense enough foam, it is more bubbly with larger bubbles than should happen….I want microfoam like a proper steam milk frother makes.

I'm looking into buying one of these LatteGo philips machines and one thing I was wondering was, how do you clean the milk frother? My nespresso machine has a frother that works via the same functionality (a venturi siphon) however the inner workings of it are inside the cap of the container and really hard to clean. You need a bottle brush, you can't really get into the smallest passages, etc. this one seems to be super easy to clean out that channel - you take the cup out and you can just wash around right in there no problem.
@BryanKlein
@BryanKlein 2 года назад
Yes, it is super easy to clean and the two parts can be put in a dishwasher as well. All surfaces that come into contact with the milk are easily accessible.

Hi, thank you for the video. Would you say whole milk froths better than 2 percent milk? I am asking because I just got the 4300 LatteToGo, and tried 2 percent milk. The frothing is lackluster in my opinion. It does the job, but the froth disappears as soon as I stir the drink. It froths milk equivalent to the way the "milk" comes out of Tassimo milk pods. I prefer the frothing to be thicker, so if you think whole milk froths better I will try that out.
@BryanKlein
@BryanKlein 2 года назад
Yes, whole milk or half and half will froth better.

Quick question - I have the 4300 model, and use whole milk almost 3,8%, yet when I use the milk frothing options it dispenses a bit of water first, and then the milk. Is mine faulty?
@BryanKlein
@BryanKlein Год назад
No, I've seen that happen too, sometimes a bit of water is condensed in the line from the heating unit to the nozzle where the steam comes out. It doesn't happen all the time, but it happens.

@@BryanKlein very interesting, it gets frustrating at times as sometimes you end up with a bit of a diluted drink. Oh well. Thanks a lot for the reply!
@BryanKlein

One thing you could do is run a no-grind, steam only, cycle first. Press the cappuccino option, then hold the bean button to disable the grinder. Then, with the latte-go cup removed, press the run button. It should start by running some steam out the nozzle where the latte-go connects. After a few seconds to purge the line, you can press the stop button a couple of times to exit the cycle. When it is back to start a new drink cycle, select everything as you normally would and see if the steam comes out without water first.

Hey Bryan! I have the same machine and having a problem with making foam. Problem started soon after I bought it and now, after 1.5 year problem got much worse. Maybe you know an answer. When making a foam, it usualy starts good but soon after it just starts pouring too much milk in cup, the noise of steaming is not loud anymore (like it is used to be) and if I don't press the button to do the coffee, it would pour like 50% more milk in cup than it used to be. At the beggining, I would make 2-3 cups in a row and problem would happen at 4th but now, I can't make even 1 cup of cappucino without a problem. I did calc clean few times and that don't solve the problem. Cup fits nicely on piston, o ring seal is in place. The next I was thinking about is to dissamble the unit and see is there a visible problem inside with those pipes.

Great question! I honestly have no idea. Does it seem like instead of steam it is just flowing hot water? Something has to be moving to draw the milk up the channel from the milk cup, but it sounds like it's not a hot blast of steam doing it.
@tomislavgavran9712
@tomislavgavran9712 2 года назад
@@BryanKleinThanks for your answer. It won't be just milk but something between milk and steam. It isn't bad but what makes me a problem is quantity, it's moore than usual. I ordered today a new milk container to try that first.

I purchased my machine 2+ years ago. My frother finally died. It started with micro cracks and now the plastic vent through which it draws the milk is completely disfigured that it's only blowing steam. The quality of plastic is not that great and guess needs replacement once in 2 years. I used to wash it in my dishwasher. Not sure if that had any effect. For other folks - you can order a replacement through their website for around $48 plus shipping.
@appleggwhites
@appleggwhites 3 года назад
Are you sure they are micro cracks, and not scratching from cleaning with an abrasive sponge? I use vinegar and a toothbrush to clean ours it does a great job removing the stuck on the milk fat solids. Also keep an eye on leaking from underneath your drip tray, we had a pin size hole in ours that was dripping water under the drip tray. Philips sent a new one under warranty.
@BryanKlein
@BryanKlein 3 года назад
Yes, we don't use any kind of abrasive cleaner or cleaning devices (sponge, etc.) You can actually see the cracks in the plastic in depth. It's hard to see this in the video. I will say again, there is no leak through them, just very small cracks all around the area shown in the video. I don't see them in other parts of the cup. Which led me to think that it might be from stresses in the plastic when it heats up rapidly from the steam. Here is a zoomed in look at the cracks. photos.app.goo.gl/GJB8ezXXs83bp3rTA

@@BryanKlein interesting, we have not seen that yet. Only issue we had with the frothier is a small piece of rubber seemed to be missing.
@BryanKlein
@BryanKlein 3 года назад
@@appleggwhites was it like that new? Seems like a bubble or a weakend part of the rubber that fell or was pulled out. Maybe from the negative pressure created in the channel where the opening to the plastic cup is. I can say that when I got the LatteGo cups new, the plastic was flawless where the cracks are now. So something changed it over time.
