Absolutely. The celebration of different cultures via my favorite band ever. Hard to believe a song called Meatstick could resonate across the world. Celebrating life, differences, cultures, love... "its a celebration, bitches..."
I'm going to see my first Phish show on 4/15/23 , and I am posting every day on Facebook about them to try explain to my FB friends why they are so special. I love the band, but I am not a super-Phish freak and hadn't seen this before. it's just amazing. I have watched it 4 times in a row. I know why people like the band, they are fun, their shows are fun, I get that and I appreciate it a great deal. To be honest, I feel that they built their early success on this principle, but also by writing and performing many interesting composed arrangements that they got away from as their success grew, and I wish they had done more of that. But after seeing this, I don't hold that against them. This is the happiness that music and shared experience can provide. I really envy them, there will never be another band like Phish, they are a national treasure, i hope they never stop going.
I can say, without a doubt, that this is the most fun I've ever had in my entire life. After this happened, I solemnly swore to never miss another phish NYE.
I would’ve given my middle nut to be there. I was in Afghanistan at the time, but I somehow managed to get to a computer a few days after NYE and saw this. I was overjoyed to take 20 minutes out of the literal WAR to watch this. Still love it and watch it all the time in fuck-ass 2021! Love y’all, whoever reads this.
I get teary-eyed from happiness every time I watch this, then I think about places where music and dancing is illegal and I cry from sadness. This is a powerful performance.
This is freakin hilarious. I've toured with phish for years. I know this song wasn't a Phan favorite, but I loved it. I was at Oswego where we set the Guinness world record for most people dancing to the same song,. This was the song and it was epic.
This will be a difficult New Years Eve countdown/celebration/show to top for years to come. The dancers/cultures/languages all coming together in that dance was incredible. Such an awesome party and vibe! What an all around amazing show musically as well!
Can’t believe I’ve never seen this......what a great performance haha !! Must’ve been great to be in the arena that night! How could anyone not enjoy Phish??
I can’t stop watching this even in 2020 Want to wish everyone a HAPPY NEW YEAR and hope everyone is safe and let’s hope touring will be back for the summer!!!
Me and the girl I was seeing at the time didn't have tickets for this night and luckily found an awesome phan that took us to will call and sold us some extras. Had no idea we would be in store for one of the happiest, most enjoyable nights of my life! I was literally laughing in tears during this. Still my favorite show to date.
This is the best thing I have ever heard. I wish I could have been at this show so much, I will be at every NYE Phish show I can make it to in hopes of seeing a show of this proportion.
I remember my first Phish concert. the lights went out, everyone starting dancing and the energy just hypnotized you. absolutely surreal! Never experienced anything like it.
After 38 shows this was my 39th, and finally caught my first NYE run. I will never forget how amazing this New Years show was!! the whole run was incredible and Phish puts a smile on my face each and every time. Almost time to kick off summer at Bethel Woods and ready for the biggest. Ball. Of them all july4th!!!!!
This band changed my life. And this show got me back into them. It was like the closing of winter land for the dead. Just dope from start to finish. I love you phish family. For real. Thanks for all the great memories.
Ive seen this prolly 30 times, and every time I just get a bigger smile than the last. This is what makes Phish so special, theyre just in it to have a good time, and that radiates through each one of their fans. June 8th baby, cant wait. (my first show :))
so unbelievably deep, special, and beautiful. what a triumph for the meatstick..........the dance craze that is still sweeping the nation.........phinest in the nation........no doubt
I love this video! It really shows the stretch Phish has in regards to universall and national acceptance. I love how the different cultures were represented as they got up to do their "MEATSTICK" dance.
Wow, that was four very important figures in music history flying above that crowd of Phans in a hot dog. I'll bet that crane operator was as nervous as a ###re in church on Sunday morning.
been a fan since 95 saw them 3 times and then i saw them at the Fleet Center in 1996 on NYE and i was blown out of my own mind ......by far the best live shows ever ....by far
And this is what makes Phish far and away the best live band. Who else flys around MSG in a hot dog? If you don’t understand the phandom surrounding Phish, you will when/if you see them live. Shocks my brain.
Hearing meat stick at the 2000 big cypress show is one of my happiest memories , so much magic us phish fans know this. I’m sure this show was amazing .
Man I wish I was at this one... but I guess I can't complain I saw some epic Phish shows over the years including the "OJ show", Clifford Ball, Lemon Wheel, Big Cypress, the 95-96 MSG new year's run, and Halloween shows in Rosemont and Atlanta. Over 100 shows coast to coast in all... but damn this was an epic Meatstick!
Wow, loved your concert video & those balloon drops! Especially the 646q "hot doggy" balloons (one of my favorites). It's sooo UPLIFTING, UPBEAT & VIBRANT! AWESOME! I watched this video along with my cat & it always keeps my cat's ears up like an owl 🦉. LOL. Cheers! ❤️👍✌️🦉.
This is pure Phish phun. It's what they are all about. All 3 nights streamed from MSG were great. If this doesn't make you get up and move, well.......
my first NYE show since Boston Gardens in '94. DAMN they rocked NYC, glad I was able to make it to all 3 shows and I have one of the nerf hot dogs they threw from the Hot Dog!
This is way it is so perfectly clear that Phish truly loves their phans. More than any other band that 'says' they love their fans can understand... I was very down...for a long time...after the Coventry Train-Wreck...We all now know why Coventry Sucked and I am over it. It appears the band is over it too... All is right again with the world....I will never again miss a Phish new year festival... THANK YOU!!!!!!
whatta night! love you guys! i wouldnt of wanted to spend my new years with anyone or anywhere else! whatta monumental show! this will be talked about forever...
