After being offered a job, I packed up all of my stuff and moved from DC to New Mexico after law school. My employer paid me to study for the bar. When the time came, I hiked up to Albuquerque to tackle the mighty bar exam. After three years of academic hell in the perpetually overcast drab of the nation’s capital, I now found myself cruising through a citrus-bright, sun-soaked city. ABQ-at least the corner I drove through-was amazing! I popped in a “goodbye” CD a friend gave me and this was track number one. Fell in love with this song in the Land of Enchantment. Even now when I hear it, my heart aches. I so vividly remember those pivotal days, when I was brimming with optimism and my new life was just beginning. God felt near. Maybe nostalgia has glorified the past. Either way, this song is special to me. I passed the bar by the way.
This band is one of the most underrated. Grammy worthy, Rock n Roll Hall Of Fame Bound and lastly to be inducted into the songwriters hall of fame for some of the best lyricism in thier genre between second or fourth to Foo Fighters, Atlas Genius and Vance Joy. hands down.
very good this band one of the best bands in Europe, this is my opnion I am hispanic here in Brazil I did not stop to hear the sound of this band phoenix.
they are so good. It amazes me how good a persons voice can be. and it doesnt make me want to bang my head on a wall like the mainstream stuff on the radio. I love phoenix!
In the start I listened to the singers voice and thought: "omg, that's awfull", but after watching this video I WANT MORE! Actually I didn't know them before, but I'm kinda sure that I'm FAN! Look at that drummer! This band is like created for me!
Multiple comments saying the drummer is "on fire", my brain would probably explode out of my ears if I could actually see him play while literally being lit on fire... That guy is fcking awesome!
@wanstrup I didn't say it's the album version, it just looks like maybe they recorded his vocals live prior to it. They obviously play to a click track, so it's possible
@fionaspencer8 They are pop. Not because they are popular (though it is a small part of the reason), but because of their style. Popular or pop musics encompass rock, "pop", hip-hop, smooth "jazz" and anything else that doesn't go under "legit" music. "Legit" music is classical,, orchestral, jazz and the like.
