The thing about Gumshoe is: he's legitimately a badass in what he's doing (being a police detective). It's just compared to raw power of Edgeworth and Phoenix, he came out as incompotent (also, the game rarely focus on "physical" side of things, and he definitely can kick a bad guy's ass)

Man, I smile every time Gumshoe comes along. Even if he’s largely been forgotten in recent games, he just has such a big presence that no other character has really matched since. He does what he can, pal!
This man is my favorite character so far in the Ace Attorney Universe. He just brings a smile to my face whenever he appears, like, "Oh boy, here comes Dick," is always my reaction (in a joking way of course). He's secretly a sweet and caring man but is just really misunderstood until you pay attention to his behavior in the game and actual realize his true self.
Misunderstood? I always saw him as a sweet and caring man. Even when the cases look clear cut, and he believes in Edgeworth, he figures a few more pair of fresh eyes couldn't hurt, hence the leaked investigation information. That's how I saw it. I'd love to hear your thoughts since I do love the idea of Gumshoe having a different "true self", anyway
Gotta to say it now Gumshoe is probably the most relatable character in my opinion. Although not the brightest at times, he shows his passion and drive as a detective on the job. He gets shot down a lot, but he has that perseverance to keep going.
It would be awesome! Dick Gumshoe: The Raise You have to go around and investigate, and be a witness instead of a prosecutor or defense attorney. You'd have to put things into place, creating testimonies to help the defense or prosecution (depending on who the murderer is.) You'd also have to figure it out yourself, and you lose if your testimonies have so many flaws you'd be proven a useless witness. You could also have cases from the original trilogy to help Wright (and Edgeworth) win the cases! Great idea, Whurlpuul!
i love Gumshoe for so many things but my favourite part is his relationship to Miles. he's just always looking out for him from a distance and it's so cute, it was so sweet when the earthquake hit and his first thought was "wait, mr. Edgeworth has a phobia of earthquakes i hope he's okay" and went to check on him
There's something so child like about this music. It makes sense why this is Detective Gumshoe's theme, there's such a naive optimism to it. It starts out sort of serious, but then as the music goes on it morphs into a sudden youthful melody, much like how Gumshoe is a hardass one minute, and goofishly dumb the next. There's just something so charming and lovable about this music, as well as Gumshoe.
Yeah I completely agree. You usually hear it during an investigation so it's serious and a bit melancholy but still slightly upbeat. It's weirdly both comforting and sad at the same time. Sad because you know you've got a lot of tough work ahead of you but comforting too because Gumshoe is there and you know his intentions are good. Whenever I hear it I think back to Turnabout Goodbyes specifically for some reason, maybe because it's the first time you really know that Gumshoe has your back since he wants to help Edgeworth too. It's like oh wow this is not looking good for Edgeworth but we're all in this together and we're gonna clear his name together. Maybe I'm thinking too much idk. Also I really like Ema's theme in AA4 but it's a bit too upbeat and cheery, I feel like it clashes a bit with the seriousness of an investigation. There'll be a dead body in the background as Ema's happy little theme is playing and it feels a bit weird lol.
I really started off hating gumshoe for arresting phoenix and Mia on the spot and jumping to conclusions, but slowly grew to like him for his golden child-like heart, eventually warming up to you to give you crucial information like case files for standing up for him.
I was watching the Phoenix Wright anime with my sister and we were finishing up Recipe for turnabout and you know when detective gumshoe bursts into the courtroom to give you the last piece of evidence Well he bursts open the door and yells ITS DA CAAAAAAAAAA.... And then my sisters iPad dies.
Probably the best bass track in the OST. Always gets me. Gumshoe got such an incredibly beautiful theme. Especially brilliant is the opening. The first second or two are amazing.
This gloomy, melancholic, yet dutiful theme is perfect, not just for Gumshoe but also the moments where we, the player, engage with him. Because of the nature of his job, we encounter him most often at the start of each case, where things are at their worst and the odds seem really stacked against Phoenix and his defendant.
i love gumshoe so much and his theme too!!!! its like kind of ominous and stuff because thats how he tries to come off but then it starts sounding kind of cheery because gumshoe is really just a goober
I like how all the descents, 0:03, 0:10, 0:18, and 0:25, that all last half a measure, all eventually add up to the time signature not being screwed for the rest of the song.
This song really fits with gumshoe as a character with the song trying to be intimating but with notes in there that allows to be rather cheerful. Have it be the same song but take those cheerful notes and let the song be more in the minor scale it probably would just be intimating. Like how gumshoe could be a detective that takes things very seriously and scars and bandages but be the reason why people would be afraid of him but instead he’s all around a very nice guy who wants to help everyone whenever he can even if he’s not supposed to. Putting people before his own work. This fits very well with his theme. And deductions of his salary
He acts serious about his job because he says Edgeworth is trusting him to get the right man. Extremely loyal to Edgeworth too even helping us as much as he could when Edgeworth was the defendant. Immediately went to check on him after an earthquake as he knew about his fear. Not to mention he helped Pheonix and even saved him from the mafia before
I just finished Justice for All yesterday (it went very fast), and this song was my favorite. I hadn't played the original in a while, so I didn't know that it was originally form the first game.
Before i played the game I saw footage of Gumshoe and thought he was supposed to be a big tough detective that would be really hard to make crack I love that I was wrong
Kinda reminded me when Franziska met Gumshoe in Turnabout Reminiscence she was already calling Gumshoe, Scruffy. Like I thought she called him Scruffy some time after knowing him but I guess not. She just straight out called him Scruffy from the beginning.
“Huh? Don’t mention it, pal. Just doing my job.” “...” “...” “Detective Gumshoe?” “Sorry it’s just... I’ve wanted to say that line ever since I became a detective” That line when he saved us from the gang from Dee Vazquez made me tear up a little ngl. Love that guy.
