The Sachatamia Lodge near Mindo, Ecuador is a hummingbird paradise where you can see many beautiful hummingbirds feeding at feeders and feeding at flowers right outside your front door. Here we photographed the incredible Violet-tailed Sylph, Purple-bibbed Whitetip, Purple-throated Woodstar, White Booted Racket-tail and the Velvet-purple Coronet. We also saw a Blue-gray Tanager and a female Lemon-rumped Tanager at the fruit feeders.
My name is Carole Turek and I am on a quest to photograph every single hummingbird species on the planet! There are over 350 types and I currently have photographed more than 150 of them.

Wow what an awesome Lodge! that Velvet-purple Coronet is incredible!! Even under his wings is a colorful bird. Love the Violet-Tailed Sylph. Even the female is amazing. The Purple -throated Woodstar is a very cute and elegant little bird. Love the White Booted Racket-tail reminds me of the Spatuletail.

You captivate me every week with your enthusiasm and love for these birds and the information you provide about them. While it is not a hummingbird, I love the Blue-Gray Tanager; such a lovely bird. The colors of the Velvet-purple Coronet and the Violet-tailed Sylph are breathtaking. Have a wonderful trip to Brazil and bring back wonderful pictures and videos.

HI Carole, what a great adventure. The birds are so colorful. My favorite hummer on this video, is the velvet purple coronet. It is beautiful and quite amazing how its marked. I can understand it would be difficult to get a good picture of it. I think you did a awesome job showing the color of this hummer. Thanks again for the wonderful video, and wonderful channel.

Thanks, Todd. That coronet is so colorful and the deep purple, blues and aquas change with every slight movement of the bird and that's why it is hard to capture what it really looks like in person. Hopefully when I run into this bird again with William that he (with his new equiipment) will be able to get a video showing these nuances.

I wish you wouldn’t think of evolution as a fact, it is just a theory, in fact if you want to, look this fact up, the founder of the theory of evolution, found out to his own dismay, that his theory didn’t fact any of the facts of nature.
