HOW HAVE I ONLY JUST FOUND THIS VIDEO AFTER YEARS OF RESEARCH & FOOT SPECIALIST APPOINTMENTS?! I HAVE THE EXACT PAIN IN THE AREA IN THE LAST SECTION, LIMPING ALL DAY EVERY DAY& I RECENTLY HAD AN MRI ON MY SPINE WHICH SHOWED GENERAL DETERIORATION FOR MY AGE BUT THIS COULD BE WHY?! FINALLY SOMEONE SAID IT, I KNEW I WASN'T THE ONLY ONE! THANK YOU DR! - FROM THE UK!
Your thumb is pressing on my Nerve enervation. That medial pain just under the maleosis is exquisitely bad and it’s so relieving to have it recognized.
This is such a great video, your explanations of the different pains are the best on YT. I was diagnosed with PF last summer, and now 14 months later I am still in extreme pain. Whether I'm on my feet or trying to sleep, the pain and swelling is constant. I just did the ,'squeeze test', and I'm pretty sure I don't have PF at all. Thank-you for posting!
Thank you. I have had heel pain for several weeks now. It’s been said I have plantar fasciitis. However my area of pain is not typical for planter fasciitis. My pain is felt on the bottom of the heel but more towards the very back edge of the bottom of the heel. Not the inner area of the heel where the fasciitia attaches to the heel. My pain is constant, not just upon waking up or after relaxing. It’s worse at those times,, but the pain never goes away as long as there is weight on it. Only time I have relief from pain is while sitting or laying down. I’ve have spent hundreds of dollars on shoes, insoles inserts, physical therapy exercise equipment, injections and multiple doctor appointment s and haven’t had any luck. I’m seeking a doctor who will think outside the box of plantar fasciitis, because I don’t believe that that is what I have. But it seems to be the first thing all people and doctors have told me so far. And beyond that I get a lot of shoulder shrugging as if there isn’t any other options to consider. This video is the first one that has helped me to know that there could possibly be an issue that isn’t plantar fasciitis. I wish you were in the Seattle area.
I have been having the edge of the heel pain for year and a half now so painful I would have never known it could be caused from my lowery chronic back pain doctors keep misdiagnosed and maybe plantars fasciitis as well and I know that’s not what this is how do I treat it it. I been put in medical boots for eight months orthotics three months before that now the doctor wants to do surgery and I feel like they don’t know what they’re talking about . I found wearing block type heals help take pain off heels but we need to fix this very painful heel situation, please help
Thanks for a clear explanation....I am a Reflexologist &:many times when a client presented themselves with heel pain...it worked out they had lower back problems...a few reflexology treatments followed by a Chiropractor adjustment soon sorted it out.
Thank you for a thorough explaination, my pain was getting worse on the rim of my heel, you were correct in saying the pain came from my lower pain. I corrected this on my own and the pain is gone, I can walk now, thank you Dr! ❤
Mine is the last one too..i know i have disc problems in my back but never thought this was from that.. now it makes sense... guess i need to see a chiropractor. Thanks for this amazing video
I have pain on both heels with pressure applied. It is below the arch area and close to the rim but only in one spot. Not all the way around the rim. Both sides are close to the inside. My skin looked dry all around the rim, so I started using creams and a foot rasp. My skin now looks normal during the morning, but swells and turns shinny and red in the evening. I use urea cream at night. While bathing, the painful area turns white and looks and feels rough. Once dry, it looks normal again. I have already had x-rays and an MRI and nothing. It is sometimes painful to the touch at night as well. I have not been able to go barefoot in my kitchen for over a year because it hurts so much. I wear comfy flip flops with a soft bottom. I use a custom orthotic in my tennis shoes outside. I just had a cortisone injection and that did nothing. I'm lost as what the problem is.
Sharon, may be nerve related, since the MRI was negative. I would consider seeing a neurologist specializing in peripheral nerves. You can begin treatment with 3 times a day topical salves like Neuro Eze or Neuro One, Lidoderm patches while you sleep, Vit C 500 mg a.day if you are not getting, etc. So many treatments. Perhaps you can get more info from my blog at www.drblakeshealingsole.com
Oooh goodness, just watching you press on that one spot at 2:20 made me cringe because I'd jump sky high from how much that area is hurting me. Thanks for the info.
I consulted about 14 doctors in india but all say the same thing, its heel spur, i cant walk or stand more than 5 mins, my life is ruined, please help me
I was told I have Baxter's Neuritis after years of chronic heel pain (MRI also confirmed it). My pain is not exactly where you pushed, but more like the rim around the heel - however only 1-2 inches medially, not all the way around. Stops before the Achilles insertional point. So further down foot than where you pressed, but that spot you pushed is included. I think I also have plantar heel bursitis going by your video. Will need to discuss that in the next visit!
@@drblakeshealingsole How often can this resolve conservatively? I was told 2 injections (to atrophy the muscle that entraps the nerve) one month apart, then surgery would be next if that doesn't work. Seems like a short conservative approach. It has been rehabbed as platnar fasciopathy for years however with not much luck, until we got the MRI thanks to an ankle accident. Now getting lots of PT for the foot/ankle due to injury aftermath. Only the first injection gave me some relief, but it's all back in 2 weeks.
@@1shanshan76 The treatment of a chronically irritated nerve can be surgery, but try 6 months of nerve treatments first. I wish I could tell you success rate, but some patients do fantastic! No injections of long acting cortisone as it can have negative effects long term. If you email me at rlb756@gmail.com I can answer on my blog better. No names used! Rich
Another option for self-treatment is to look up trigger points in the abductor hallucis and the quadratus plantae muscles. Learn how to self trigger point these muscles, as one or both of these muscles, if irritated, can lead to compression of the Baxter's nerve. Their trigger point referral is also around the heel and can be the cause of pain!
Thank you very much for your explanation. You are the only one who described the pain around the rim of the foot. That is what I go through too. .. I was treated for plantar fasciitis and is not working .. What should I do please ?
There are several ideas for cures for plantar fasciitis Make sure you rest your feet Consider Wearing supportive footwear Use ice on your feet Try ibuprofen or another nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug to reduce pain and inflammation Wear night splints Try stretching and strengthening exercises. (I read these and the reasons they work from Rohon Foot Care site )
There are a few components to curing for plantar foot. One place I discovered which succeeds in merging these is the Rohon Foot Care (google it if you're interested) definately the no.1 remedy that I have ever heard of.Check out all the interesting information .
There are a few suggestions to try Try a natural remedies for plantar foot. Something as simple as ginger root, which can be found at your local grocery shop, is a great anti-inflammatory. Ginger root is in the class of plants known as Cox inhibitors. This means they help inflammation naturally. Another good remedy for pain is Bromelain. Bromelain is an enzyme got from pineapples. just drink the raw juice or eat raw pineapple, you can gt advantage from the properties of Bromelain. Enzymes are one of the top remedies for pain because they are all natural and are what your body uses to cure inflammation (I learned these and more tips from fergs foot formula site )
My entire heel hurts. The doctor told me I have plantar fasciitis and I need to just stretch it as much as possible. So that's what I've been doing and it's not getting any better.
It may have started as plantar fasciitis, but you must have incredible inflammation or nerve pain. Does it look swollen? Does it hurt to walk on your heels alone? If you can get an MRI, calcaneal stress fracture is my number one bet. How did it happen? Was the initial symptoms gradual or very sudden? All good questions to answer? If it is plantar fasciitis, the answers would be not swollen, not hurt to walk on heels alone, gradual onset. Rich
@@drblakeshealingsole thank you so much for your response! It does look swollen, it feels swollen, mainly on the inside edge of the heel. I couldn't even begin to walk on my heel alone. It was a sudden onset when I started taking a new dance class. I started the class in January and the pain started in May. I thought plantar fasciitis because the floors were hard and I was barefoot. That's the only thing that I've done differently. Based off of what you have said, I'll be going back to the doctor ASAP! I knew it was more than plantar fasciitis! It's probably the most painful thing I have ever experienced. I did get an x-ray and I do have a bone spur. But the part of my foot that hurts the most is not where the bone spur is. The bone spur is more towards the middle of my heel, whereas the most painful part is the medial edge. Thank you so much for your time! Edit: something else I forgot to mention that I think is very relevant is the fact that I put on a lot of weight very quickly. I think it was just a perfect storm of all of these different factors colliding to make my life miserable lol. I have begun losing weight, and I have implemented a regular workout/stretch routine.
CHRIS DE GUZMAN Chris, please check out my playlist on plantar fasciitis by typing on the You Tube search drblakeshealingsole plantar fasciitis playlist. You can also go on my blog entitled drblakeshealingsole and look in the search or labels. Hope it helps. Rich
Sorry, but without a definitive diagnosis, it is hard to know. Try to get 5 things that help some, like arch support, heel cushion, ice, etc, and do all those 5 things for the next month every day. Rich
Thanks a lot for these explanation. I do have the pain you mention in the end, all around the heel, that you associate with back pain. But I got it from overusing my heel avoiding walking on the ball of my foot because I have metatarsalgia. Do you think it can be something else than something associated with back pain ?? It is in a different location each time but always around the heel, back or on the left or right side, never below. It doesn't match any normal common heel injury. Thanks a lot for your help !!!!!!! I'm so desperate to walk normally one day.
Alisa, still sounds nerve! The same mechanics, consistent with limping, could have tweaked the sciatic nerve. See my blog posts on nerve pain and treatments. Rich
I was diagnosed with heel pain overload syndrome by an orthopedic surgeon. How do you treat that condition? pain is more on the outside bottom of the foot, and same area at the heel.
Thank you very much for the awesome informative video... Please suggest me the remedy as I am suffering from pain around the rim of the foot... I am a regular runner 🏃...
The two most common causes of rim pain are neurological from a branch of the sciatic nerve, and insertional Achilles pain as it grabs the heel for push off. If you have any low back, piriformis, hamstring issues, these could all be causing low-grade nerve pain. If not, Achilles programs of stretching, strengthening, ice are helpful. You have to see what makes it feel better besides rest. If heat makes it feel better, then it may be nerve, if ice, it may be achilles tendinitis. See my blog drblakeshealingsole on the treatment of each. Rich
Daniel, be persistent. I love to follow my patients monthly to make sure they are progressing. Some treatments are slower than others, but you still get well. If you are not improving, even getting worse, you need a change in direction. Good luck Rich
Same. Hard to tell if my ankle pain comes from joint or ligaments pain. So frustrated. Anybody can help ? What ankle pain can be caused by heavy weight lifting ? Makes no sense. Hurts non stop. Feels pain all the way on each side of my heels and around ankle. Saw a doctor. Gave me P T sessions : . Useless because I don’t think my injuries were properly analyzed to start with.
@@berengereful Of course, achilles pull is number one with weight lifters, but so it joint impingements. MRI would make sure no cartilage is involved. There are 3 phases of rehab: Immobilization (when diagnosis is made), and then when appropriate, Re-Strengthening. Finally, it is Return to Activity, which you are a way off from. It sounds like you need a diagnosis and some immobilization before any strengthening. Good luck! Sorry! Rich
Hi dr. Seems i have bursitis. Its kinda warm and swells at night. My dr has given me powerstep insert however he prescribed me some exercise for plantar fasciitis as well.. thank you for the info.
Doc, pain in heel that won't resolve for past 2 months...neg pain on exam algorithm with exception of applying firm lateral and medial inward pressure. Have appointment with podiatrist in 2 weeks. Thinking about immobilizing my foot right mow myself with boot.
There are several factors in curing for plantar foot. One plan I discovered that succeeds in merging these is the Fergs Foot Formula (google it if you're interested) without a doubt the most useful remedy i've seen.Check out the interesting information .
Grest video. It will be 10x better if you could use a marker and draw on his heel so we can visual better instead of trying to imagine under the skin. 🙏🙏🙏
I have a concentrated ache on the back of my right heel. Not on the actual Achilles tendon itself but where it comes down to the bottom of the back of the heel. What can I do to resolve this pain?
My left heel when I put pressure on a certain spot has a hard spot. Might be a heel spur, I have a Dr. appointment tomorrow and hope to get a diagnosis so I can start treating the heel pain that has plagued me for a good while now.
Okay, so what does that last one mean? Around the rim of the foot and also lower back pain. That's exactly my pain and I need answers. If I go to the doc, they'll just prescribe pain pills.
Hi... Dr. Blake , I work in hospital. When i walk on floor or standing I have less pain on my heels but after I sit down ,I start feeling burning on my heels. When I wear shoes on my walking ,my feet feel ok but when I sit down feels like my shoes choke or feel tight on my feet. So I wonder why I feel burning on my feet after walk when I siting down.thank you
Yvonne, there are 3 possibilities. First of all, it is typical plantar fasciitis with its symptoms after prolonged inactivity. The second possibility is low back compression of typically L4/L5 nerve root. You should feel better if you lay down and get up then sit and get up, or at least different. Thirdly, you it can be venous, where the veins are not working as well as possible. Again, sitting can be the worse, laying second, and walking around getting the circulation to move best. Check these scenarios out. Rich
@@drblakeshealingsole : I have a lot of things going on in my body ,I have piriformis nerve, sometimes my shoulder,my neck feel heavy or stiff through my jaw and I get migraines. Sometimes I have lower back pain. Do you think my heels feel hurt and burning because of my lower back pain like you mentioned? I had 2 injections on my heels but didn’t help. I had X-ray and mri. The first X-ray did not show any on my heels but on mri show that I have moderate medial plantar fasciitis. Sometimes when press on my heel ,I feel the nerve . I tried different kind of shoes and orthotic insoles but didn’t work. The orthotic insoles ,I tried from firm to soft ,they make my arch sores but help less pain on my heels. So ,I don’t know what to do. If it already long hour shift at hospital I feel pain on my ankle When I less walking ,less burning when I sit down, when I more walking more burning when sitting down . I don’t understand why when I wear shoes feel more pressure when I sitting down, but when I walk ,less pressure.
@@melianapan Definitely could be. If it is, then treatment of the low back with abdominal work, etc. But, someone has to make that connection first. Rich
@@melianapan These are many of the signs of nerve pain in the foot which is at least part of the pain syndrome. I would not volunteer for more foot treatment until you have had someone look at the relationship of the back to foot. Rich
Yes, of course, but also you could just be pressing on a nerve. Stress fractures are normally slightly swollen and some difficulty walking based on the severity. When in doubt, get it checked out. Rich
Greetings Doctor Greetings and respects, I suffer from heel pain, swelling and swelling of the Achilles tendon. After the diagnosis and the imaging, the doctor told me that you have calcifications in your feet, I have limescale. He prescribed me some medication and it didn't help. I can't walk or run, I feel depressed about what happened. help me Thank you in advance ..
Hi Dr. I had an MRI and it showed plantar fasciitis qnd bone marrow odema. This was 6 weeks ago. Pain has got slightly better but I have this nagging burning pain when I am walking. This pain does not warm up and it is constant when walking. Sometimes I feel the burn in the ar h of my foot at rest. I am a marathon runner and I have not ran in 4 months other than a 15 min walk run that flared my symptoms up really bad. Consultant suggested cortisone shot this Tuesday via ultrasound. Please help. I am unsure if this is tgr right thing to do. He said it is medial plantar fasciitis. I don't know if it is scar tissue causing this pain. If it is should I get a different treatment ? Shockwave didn't work on me
Doctor only on one side of my foot does it hurt, the left side of my right foot to be exact. It’s not the actual bottom of my heel (like plantar fasciitis) but on the rim above it. Just a tiny area above it and only when I’m standing, walking, or applying pressure with my hands to feel it. It’s not completely unbearable pain and I don’t believe I fractured it. I woke up yesterday morning and out of nowhere it was hurting. I accidentally aggravated it more by running with my friends because I thought it was nothing.....I was wrong lol. Please help!
@@drblakeshealingsole Hello 👋🏻 thank you for replay. Honestly I use to dance flamenco and modern dance time ago (35years ago) but I didn’t have any complaint until last year. How do you treat it?
You will have to follow it to see if it grows and you should get checked out. The itching is from the skin nerve irritation that is produced by the lump. If it changes in any way this next week or month, I would see a podiatrist in your community. Good luck. Rich
My elder sister's heel bone move whenever she try to walk Unfortunately she can't And doctors haven't diagnose yet what the problem Plz give me some solution
Imran, this usually happens do to some ligament issue not stablizing well. Some physical therapists are good at sensing what is wrong. Was there any injury?
I accidentally fell from stairs some 6 weeks ago, and landed with my left foot only. First the heel impact on the floor, then my other front foot. For 4 weeks I cant barely walk, and can walk a little on 5th week, then much confidence walking on the 6th week. But I still cant walk normally. It doesn't give me any unbearable pain when walking, but it's like my heel muscles doesnt allow me to walk normally yet. Is this normal? I dont have any bone related pain though (I can tell the difference).
I have swelling but two lumps but there a gap between and I feel a thick band on the edge of my foot and it’s moving up to my ankle now. They claim I got bone spurs
Richard Blake I be happy to but I’m not sure where I see an option for that. I don everything on my iPhone so soon as I figure it out I be glad to send it
This was great, thanks, I been tryin to find out about "best trail running shoes for plantar fasciitis" for a while now, and I think this has helped. Have you heard people talk about - Seayiliamon Aphonic Supremacy - (just google it ) ? It is a great one off product for discovering how to eliminate your plantar fasciitis without the normal expense. Ive heard some incredible things about it and my friend got excellent results with it.
Hello, I'm coming from your peroneal tear video I rolled my ankle 4 days ago and I'm 100% positive the personal tendon is injured ( had no swelling but some brusing after day 3) But I can walk on it now with moderate pain( even tho I'm limping) I just performed the strength test and aside from some pain I could generate force easily Should I go see a doc or will it heal on its own? Any insight would be appreciated Tnku
Typically you have to put yourself into Phase 1 of Rehabilitation which is immobilization and anti-inflammatory. Get a Anklizer removable boot and see if that helps. Start icing for 10 minutes the sore area 3 times a day. That should start the process. Check in with a local podiatrist. Rich
I`ve been adhering to this plantar fasciitis treatment , Sαnzoka Mula (Go ogle it) for a couple of days and I am pleased that it has relieved the discomfort. It has helped me to stroll and run with no trouble again. Considering my improvement, I think I can get back to playing soccer by the weekend. I think that my coach is wrong about stating that it`s not possible to relieve plantar fasciitis within days..
Thank Goodness i now know whats wrong with my leg!!.Its a pity our doctors in Nigeria know not very much about this painful condition .All they would give is pain killers that would never suffice.
