I was so mad when I bought mine that it didn't come with it! I couldnt believe they wanted the same amount of money as BOTW for that. Didn't Wii Sports come with the Wii? That's how I viewed 1,2 Switch
Zenith Edge You’re right about the DLC. I only have 1 digital game but I’ve had to buy an SD card because I bought so many DLCs I’ve run out of storage the switch initially comes with. That being said, if you’re not going fully digital you can buy a cheap $20-30 SD card instead of the more expensive 400/500 Gb cards.
Y E S N’T Try putting in and playing a fresh game of Zeda/ Mario or Mario Kart without updates. It won’t work. You will have to options: “Update” or “Cancel”z When Nintendo’s servers go down, your Switch and it’s own exclusive physical library won’t be worth sh*t, unless you hack the console. The times we live in..
Physical cause I like growing a collection and actually feeling like I own something you know being able to actually hold it in my hand something tangible
@@AK-gt8zy I think it's more of the sentimental value in his case. I'm sure he doesn't collect everything he comes across, he just seems to care alot about his video games
@@AK-gt8zy Think of it like this, If you're old enough to understand what i mean. But what was your first record/casette/CD you ever bought ? and what was the first song you ever streamed ? thats the difference between physical and digital.
I prefer physical. For these reasons: •Physical games take up less memory. I know you can get an SD card, but it's still worth mentioning because sometimes the SD card can get corrupted. •Physical games can be sold •Physical games can be bought pre owned which means they are cheaper •Physical games can be admired on the shelf I hope Nintendo never stop making physical games
Physical: Doesnt take up storage. Is cheaper than Digital. Digital: Takes up storage. Is more expensive. The only good thing is that its faster to change games Well looks like ive started a war
Ch3kM4te Digital has sales more often for certain devs. For example, Bandai Namco had a sale for pretty much all of their DIGITAL games. Same for Capcom. Nintendo also has a thing where you can buy two first party games for $100 instead of $120.
For Digital you will never lose them as long as you remember your Nintendo eshop account, it is forever yours even if you lose your switch. You also don't have to leave the house to buy the games.
@@peterdavids31 I fogot my nintendo id password AND email for my 3ds... I can't even try to delete it and have a new one or it'll delete my ONE digital game that I play a lot
The way I do it is this: When the game is brand new and at full price everywhere, I lean towards digital simply for the convenience factor. If it's an older game that's oddly still full price on the eShop but like half the price on Amazon, you best believe I'm buying the damn physical version, 2x the price isn't worth the convenience.
I prefer physical for games I'm expecting to get the bulk of my play in one session - mainly single player, story driven, stuff, and digital for stuff I'm going to want to keep coming back to, mainly multiplayer focused stuff.
Gizensha Fox I'm the opposite. Multiplayer games usually lose their value when the next version comes out a year later... Things like Zelda Xenoblade Mario persona Witcher which take 100+ hours with so much to do I'll get digitally since by the time I'm done with them I won't have any resell value anyways lol
Also, you can sell the game if you decide you don't need the Switch anymore. Not possible when buying it digitally (or you wanna sell your entire account, but don't recommend that)
I'm the same exact way as Fox! Longer form, story driven, single player experiences, anything like that, I usually buy physically. I'll play mainly that game until completion, then put it away until I go to start a new file. Also, they often come with stronger collector's editions. Primarily multiplayer experiences, or any kind of game where I'm more likely to want to jump into it for a few rounds or a short session(think Mario Kart, Smash, a multiplayer FPS, etc.), I prefer to have digitally, because the convenience of not having to find the game I want and switch it out for a couple hours tops is conducive toward that style of play. The market value of a game has basically no impact on whether I go digital or physical, as I rarely buy games that I plan to stop playing after a year. I do my research and purchase games that I'm going to want to come back to for years to come, so that means I don't ever sell my games. The ONLY time I sell games is when my judgement fails and I somehow buy I game that I hated, or older versions of games when superior versions come out later(remastered/revised/definitive editions, etc.), and even then, not always.
Well... make sure it doesn't accidentally get deleted, Especially for the future, when you might risk not being able to download the game again after they close their online store services.
Savannah Jones I got both physical and digital version of this game. I am saving the physical version unopened for the future... and I am using the digital version today.
@@115zombies935 well if your switch gets destroyed after nintendo shut down its services on digital you will lose your games on physical you will have to get a new switch
KALD3S Irrelevant point. By the time Nintendo shuts down online services for the switch it’ll be easy to emulate the switch and it’s games. That’s a non-issue.
@@115zombies935 some people prefer playing on an old console, some people still play their nes/snes + its hard enough to find roms/isos now because of nintendo
kyotheman69 the only reason people like physical is that..it covers them forever if their system crashes they will still have it..and it's just nice to collect a real physical copy...I prefer physical...but however even I have a few digital games on my switch and play station
I actually had more issues with physical than digital. You could very easily recover digital games if your system crashes, or even if you lose your system. Not the case with physical games. However, I've been going with physical games mostly because my wife also has a switch, and it's not very easy to share digital games as it is with physical. Another reason is, I'm part of the best buy gamer's club, and I save 20% on each game, which makes physical games much much cheaper. I did lose my mario + rabbids game, but I was able to get it again during black friday while it was on sale. However, I dont have any such concern for my digital copies. I'm not too worried anymore if I lose another, since I've save so much with my gamers club, I could easily justify buying a title again as a replacement, though, I'm much more careful with my games after that happened. I made sure the game case I got this time locks the cartridge into place, so I can't easily misplace it.
I buy mostly physical. My main issue with digital in any platform is the price. I go into a store and buy a physical game for $60. I can understand that. You have to factor in the making of the card, the making of the case, the cost of shipping, importing/exporting of the physical copy. What I don’t understand is how the exact same game to download is $60. A digital file cost the same as a physical copy, and that makes no sense to me.
snobunni426 imagine in the future when everything is digital and they will have a monopoly on games... 70/80 a game and ten years later still the same price. On the xbox store dlc and 10yr old games are still 40 in the digital store but only 10 physical and new
snobunni426 if people could get buy spending 20 bucks less for a digital game then they would, and cartridges would eventually disappear. They need to be the same price so people don’t always choose digital. But, they are making more of a profit when you buy digital.
Demented Duskull very true but if you have weak internet you gonna be waiting days maybe even weeks for your game to fully install after multiple times of it automatically starting over from one little network error, trust me I know as it took me about 2 weeks to install mk11
Who goes to gamestop? I only buy physical games. Just order them on amazon and if you have prime it can show up on your doorstep the next day. Even if you don't have prime it only takes 3-5 days for most things.
I feel like one big missed points for the switch experience is the switch coins you get when you buy digital. They add up fast, I constantly am getting 10-15$ off my new purchases.
You’re right, I bought human fall flat and could not afford thief simulator as an add on, but when I bought human fall flat I was able to buy thief simulator with my added coins
Tropical Productions not only is fall flat still getting free dlc, it’s an awesome game. Free thinker. It might make you rage a little with its mechanics. It goes on sale all the time, so wait until the next sale
As a parent with multiple switches and 3 boys in the house, Digital makes absolutely no sense whatsoever... You can't share games across multiple switches and you can't trade in games. I would quickly go broke buying all digital.
@@ShadowKusano imagine trying to play breath of the wild a bunch of 3-8 year olds arnt gonna be like okay you get 15 minutes then me then you probably not if they get to that point there gonna argue about who goes first
This is really stupid to say, but one reason why I like physical more than digital is... I just outright forget about a ton of my digital games. I have bought so many digital games on impulse or on sale and if they're not on the main screen when I boot up, I forget about them if I don't play them often. I always scan through my physical games so even if I haven't played a game in years, I still see it. But I forget that I've gotten games all the time. Looking through my Wii U downloads, I absolutely forgot I got Darksiders II. As for my physical copy of Assassin's Creed III, yeah. I scan past it every other day. Still feels stupid to say. Also, games I've bought, but not downloaded. Those I also forget about.
That's the same issue for many, me included. I bought two weeks ago Bulb Boy, a small indie game from the eShop, for 2€ or less. I still haven't played it, I keep forgetting about it.
No, that's not stupid. If anything, comments like yours are what businesses try to dig for. Understanding the gamer's psychology doesn't come cheap for these game manufacturers, i'm tellin ya!
The lower prices are bs, Switch have been having some crazy sales, bought Sonic mania for 7.99 and Little nightmares for 5.99 on digital. The physical copies were over £15
i miss that too. I remember Sonic and the Black Knight's. it was so cool. Id make sure to read the entire manual b4 even inserting the game in the console. it felt intimate really
The main reason for me not wanting to buy digital games because often the digital copies cost more the physical games which just seems nonsensical, especially for the switch. Amazon especially can have games much cheaper than their digital costs, and Nintendo always are stingy with lowering game costs for digital copies. It doesn't make sense to me, you'd have thought digital would be lower due to lack of shipping and packaging required, and the fact that Nintendo gains 100% of the money from the sale (provided it's first party) rather than losing a cut to amazon or gamestop or whichever.
Digital and Physical almost always have to be of the same price, due to factors such as cartridge production and costs, and also retailers won’t spend money when people would prioritize buying digital due to a lower price.
Yeah. It's way cheaper for me to buy used physical copies on eBay or Amazon than for me to buy digitally. Just the other day, I got The Fractured But Whole used physical for $15. Plus, with physical, if I don't like the game, I can always resell it.
With physical games you have the competition between retailers driving down the price, that’s why physical tends to be cheaper. You don’t have competition for digital copies on consoles so they sell it for MSRP aside from sales. The is the worst potential scenario of an all digital console (if that ever comes to be).
Where I live it’s cheaper for me to buy it digitally, and I don’t need to drive a long way trying to find a cheap physical copy of a game, but that’s just how I like to do it
I prefer digital for my switch. I love having all of my games readily available no matter where I am. I'm irresponsible with tiny things. I can very easily see myself losing a game or accidentally leaving one at a friend's house and constantly forget it's there. I also like having digital because if I ever go broke or need cash fast, selling my games is always the first idea in my mind. When I do sell my games I hate myself so much when I want to play them again lol. Buying digital just sort of stops that issue altogether.
When getting someone a gift and being like here's a card get this game, it doesn't sound as good and being like here I got you this game and wrapping it and it being in a case...
Would be a fun way to get the worst of both systems (lack of ability to share card since data is still locked to your account; need to swap cards/lose them easily as you try to play another title. 1 up-side, the switch's SD card slot is just as easily reachable, arguably less effort to get at in handheld mode, than the game card slot is. Could save you time if you swap games often/keep changing your mind a lot XD

Shipping on Amazon is now delayed because of virus 19. Sadly, some can't play Animal Crossing or Doom on their launch day. Huge benefit of digital games.
im actually debating on whether if i should hunt down physical copies online or just settle for a digital copy of animal crossing, can anyone help please? i really want to play acnh and i dont know what to choose.
So here’s my take: I was moving to digital on switch until my sister got one and I got a secondary switch lite. Some games (the escapists for ex) I have to purchase per player even on the same console if that switch is my secondary. And I can’t share digital with my sister. They seriously need a family sharing for Nintendo games. Not that that’ll ever happen 😂
Tamara Girodie you can share! The way to do it, you have to jump a few holes. The person who owns the game cannot play on their own account. They have to play on a secondary account. Then the person who doesn’t own it can play on the owners account. The other option if you want to play on the same account is to have the original owner offline while the secondary player is online
Agree. That’s why I like physical not digital. If I have 50 games on my family acct, as long as only one copy is active at a time, we should be able to play whatever game.
same reason I am super glad I bought physical only the most important games I consider the best for Xbox One & get Digital only if crazy special, I have One S that family uses & One X & can only use digital if I am signed into account but with physical CD's I can have both Xbox's on at same time without being locked to profile for digital games. People with physical libraries can buy two systems or Switch & cheaper used Switch Lite just to have backup incase one of the switches break or can't read games anymore.
Damn you changed my mind when you showed that Wii store closing, and people losing the ability to re-download their games. I guess I’ll go with the physical cartridges.
Yoshibug20 thing is that’s what most adults would do. What about kids who play the games and while yes we have the internet kids still wouldn’t search up how to backup their games onto a pc so when they become older and want to replay the games and since as a child they didn’t backup the game they won’t be able to replay it
With the 3ds it didnt matter if you had physical or digital after the system was discontinued all games that werent downloaded before are now pointless so really theres no win situation in the long run
I usually buy physical games when I want to get a collector’s edition or there are special perks like being able to switch the cover art for a game case, like those special rewards for Octopath Traveler or Fire Emblem Three Houses with my Nintendo. Digital when I just want the game and for the pleasure of being able to play it without switching cartridges.
Physical all the way. I love looking at cases on my shelf and it's good to know I actually own a game instead of "borrowing" it. I only buy indies digitally as most of the time, they don't have the money to produce physical copies. However, I'm never buying a triple A game digitally. I hope Nintendo can get 64GB cartridges soon or make 32GBs cheaper so that we don't have games suffer like L.A. Noire that need extra downloads.
LOL "borrowing"? you have the game whether its physical or digital, I don't want to start an argument because you might just prefer physical, but the information stored on your cartridge is the same as anyone else's SD card... The only difference is that people can re-download the game if they lose their data whereas a faulty/lost cartridge is gone forever.
DarshUK Gaming I understand but the difference is physical you own the game but digital is a license to play it. But yeah you're right, they are the same whether you buy physical or digital. I just prefer physical whenever possible
Sean Diamond The information in the video is completely wrong on this point. You do NOT own it either way. Whether you buy physical or digital, you only purchase a license to use the game. When you buy physical, you of course actually own the chunk of plastic. But the game inside the cartridge is still only licensed to you. Think about Overwatch or something. You can get yourself banned whether you bought digitally or physically. The author of a book cannot ban you from reading it after you've purchased it. Overwatch can ban you even after you purchase a physical copy. That is the easiest way to explain that you don't own it, that your use is subject to terms enforced by the other party. This is called a shrink-wrap notice now, terms later, chance to refund contract. You are contractually obligated to follow the TOS either way. That TOS says all sorts of stuff in it. Nintendo can revoke your right to play your physical copy of Zelda, they just need an internet connection to push that through (which is the same for digital anyway).
for those saying physical and digital are both "license" to play , what physical has to offer is that you can pass (or sell) that license to others and get the license back to you which what digital lacks. also for the overwatch example , banned and license are 2 different things. you can still play even you are banned. ID ban is different with license to play
I CHOOSE NEITHER! with digital you have to use lots of energy to move your thumb to the home button and select another game I rather just not play my switch
Physival game collection looks good and feels good to touch. Looking at the extra goodies like posters etc. Youll feel you own what you purchase. It will be there with you foe hundreds of years.
I mean, sure, but I haven't bought a single game in the last couple of years that I would ever want to sell. I have a pretty good idea what games I do and don't like, and if I like it, I'm gonna keep it.
@@IkmelAAA I was never a fan of Mass Effect to begin with since I haven't really played much of any of the games. The other games didn't interest me enough to buy them day one or pre-order them, so I just waited to see what others thought of them. I only buy "safe" games (to me) on day one. I tend to wait for reviews and other opinions for most other games. I have a massive backlog. I can afford to wait a few extra days before buying a good new game.
If you sell them you can't play them anymore so that means you gotta beat it and be sure there is nothing in there you won't wanna go back to. I never sell any physical copies. I still wanna have them in case.
This is my first video of yours I’ve seen. And I have to say I love your approach to things. It’s very different from what I’ve seen on other channels just like yours that I follow. So you got my sub and like:)
best argument for physical : in one year when you are done playing zelda botw, you're never gonna play it again. With physical, you sell it on ebay and still get $40 for it. (or you can take it to gamestop and $3 trade in -rip offs) So the new game you want that costs $60 you only gotta pay $20 after you sell the old one. The reason why game console makers are convincing you to go digital only, is because they want every one to pay $60 and they don't want YOU to save money. They want YOU to pay full. Cause the console companies are not your friends. They are companies who are greedy. They want every last cent they can make off you.
true, but physical games are on sale too, especially on amazon. but even more than that, old games (on nintendo consoles) that were 60$ originally can be 20$ 3-4 years in the future with nintendo selects, while the digital version of those will still be 60$ so if you buy a switch in... lets say 2020, and you buy 5 games with it, you can save 100-200$ if you buy physical + no need for an SD-card
@@nojatha4637yeah but if you experienced the game already why keep it to collect dust for a year? Maybe give it to a friend and he will give you a game that also collects dust on his shelf.
I like physical games because I like the collecting aspect. It's just personally satisfying to have all of my game cases on display. Maybe I'm alone on that lol
Your definitely not alone, I love collecting physical copies, 1 because they take up no space on the switch and 2 because they’re cheaper. Also I like cases to be on display.
I always buy physical when you get it it download s in 1 sec and you can sell it if you don't like it and there usually cheaper but for some games you have to buy on eshop but I pick physical whenever I can
I collect some physical games, nevertheless, I think digital games reduce the use of plastic, water and paper, hence contributing to the planet. I went digital for that reason.

Physical all the way. Actually having the feeling of ownership means more to me than the inconvenience of having to fiddle around with the tiny cartridges. Looking at my collection also makes me pretty proud, so I pretty much rock physical for every game I own.
I love digital because it's more accessible, easier, and if you get robbed, games are saved on your account. Physical does have it's perks, but can be lost, destroyed, stolen, but does come with a box with art work on it, and sometimes a nice mini poster, manual, and advertisement.
@@jaythesizzler1691 same thing happened to my dad, they broke in his home when he was at work and stole his Xbox and games, and his tv and everything valuable basically...

Being fair its far easier to back up games on PC in the event stores do what they do and remove it from their digital shelves. Not that you have much option for physical anymore on PC, but theres utility console doesnt have in addition to convenience.
Personally, I buy physical for a couple of reasons: 1. I’m paranoid and don’t want to potentially lose all my games. That’s unlikely to happen anytime soon with the switch but it’s still a consideration 2. Sometimes you can find physical games selling for cheaper on websites like eBay. Again, that’s less likely with switch games but it’s still possible 3. I like to be able to physically hold them and show them off on a shelf or whatever because I just like what it looks like That being said, I do have a couple of digital games and I completely understand the appeal of them. I just tend not to buy them in that format.
For some reason on my switch i have all my games digital with an insane amount of storage because i like to take my switch out for traveling or whenever i leave my house so it's handy to have all my games in my switch without having to worry about cartridges
You just contradicted yourself. “I used to be so against digital now I’m all for it” So you like digital now? “Perfer physical” Wait wtf. You prefer physical games? You just said you’re all for digital...
I've found several of the games I wanted had discounted physical versions on amazon vs full price on the nintendo store, digitally. So not only do I not have to buy a microSD card, but I save money up front on the game. In those instances, it's no question.
I realize that digital is way more convenient but I prefer physical because I like to have something in my hand. I like putting game cases on my bookshelf just to see then there. I like the satisfaction I feel when I go to the store and I walk out holding a new exciting adventure.
I honestly thought by now our laws would have caught up and we would be able to resell both physical and digital games. We need to start demanding more rights with our digital goods.
i dont think it will ever be possible to sell digital games... what you are buying is a lisence to use the game, not the game itself so basiclly you dont own the game therefore you cant sell it (i cant even think of how you whould sell it, in what proccess) also: physical games have sales, and i know that there are eshop sales but physical games can be 40$ cheaper 3-4 years down the line (nintendo selects) for example if i buy Lego City: Undercover on the wii u physically my total whould be 20$, while digitally it whould cost 50$
An official nintendo trade in system, where you get ninteno eshop currency for a trade in? Can't see how hard that would be. At the moment returning games is extremely impossible and against everything nintendo wants for some reason. I could see people buying far more games digitally if they knew they could return them even at a fraction of the price later down the line.
I prefer physical games myself, even if i get that the Switch's design makes digital games quite tempting. Like you said, with a physical game, YOU own your copy of the game, rather than just having a license to play it. It gives you more freedom over what you choose to do with your copy. Plus i like to put game cases on my shelf and see them form a collection. It feels more satisfying rather than seeing a bunch of icons on a screen, even if the latter is more convenient to start up and play your games.
Jojje4567 You guys make it sound like downloading the game is just streaming it. You may not own the cartridge but you did physically download the game into the switch so yes you do you still own it. Like I said it’s not like you’re just streaming it off the Internet
I much prefer the physical game. The thought of blowing out my storage is always in the back of my head when purchasing from the eshop. Although sometimes the eshop has awesome sales which don’t transfer into stores so saving approximately $20 is a no brainer plus you earn points which you can use for a discount.
THANK YOU for mentioning the Wii shop closing. I was not aware and am now immediately unpacking it (moved recently) and making sure I have everything I need on it.
Ik im late but you can easily download every wii ware game to an sd card from some websites since they archived every single wii ware game. This is what happens everytime a digital store shuts down, so dont be too worried when the software shop shuts down
This is the same as audio cds.. I miss going to tower records and purchasing a band not only to listen to but to define myself like yea I like this band I have their product.. now I just stream off spotify and it's just "whatever" not the same feeling
Seriously though... going out and picking up a cd, a tape, a vinyl. Always have memories of searching through bins just to find that awesome gem. Now it’s like eh, I only wanna hear this track. Spotify Cheapens the whole experience... but it’s also way easier to find songs and wouldn’t change that. Both have pros and cons
why I will be buying a physical copy of little nightmares 2 for my switch because I will have the cool box art and so it doesn’t take up loads of space on the switch like a digital version would
As for someone who uses the switch primarily in handheld and tabletop I like to get my games digitally. I really don't like to take a bag of game cartridges every time with me everywhere I go...
I go physical (primarily). I like having the case art on display, don't have to wait for downloads, i can swap games with friends, and i dont go through sd cards like toilet paper. I store all my carts in a holder that came with a switch case. Never lost, damaged or been confused about where a game is. That being said, i still have a couple of games that are great time killers if I ever get caught without my game case.
I went digital for this console mostly because of convenience. While I will say you need a lot of storage (definitely an additional SD card), it’s been worth it so far. I have lots of games ranging from Super Mario Odyssey to Undertale. I have at least 15 games on there right now and my system seems to be going strong still. Although I’m not as big a gamer as I used to be when I was younger, this has definitely been enough to satisfy my gaming needs
I think one of the biggest factors is the actual game itself. Virtually all Mario games and other Nintendo originals retain the majority of their value even years after their release, so those games you most likely want to purchase physically so you can potentially sell them and make most of your money back in the future.
T Stanley when I buy games I never think about reselling. I don’t buy a game just to play though it once. I only buy games if I think I could play it over and over and still have fun. I have beat both super Mario Galaxy games 5 times and I still find them fun.
Physical: Transferring data from an old switch to a new switch requires minimal effort with physical but digital is so much more complex. ( On the other hand, if you lose a switch, what ever cartridge was inside is lost forever)
I always want physical, the switch cases are too cute to resist. And Nintendo games always increase in value, I feel legit sorry for the people who went digital only with their Wii Us.. I saw someone trying to sell his Wii U, thinking it was worth an insane ammount just because he had plenty of games installed.. Poor fool
To me it depends on the game itself. With brand new games I love alot I go physical. If it's a port of a old game (dk freeze for example) I usually just go digital. Overall just depends on the game itself.
There’s something I wanna know, what happens if I bought a game from eshop, then put a cartridge of the same game into my switch? Will the saved data be erased? I wanna know!
Physical all the way. Physical games are usually cheaper, They take up less space, and they look really nice on the shelf with the little boxes. If you want to pay sixty bucks for a piece of software you don't even technically own, that's fine as well.
Lots of games are more expensive digitally than the physical copies in stores. Physical games are on sale too, and even more often than the digital ones. Also, you can buy used physical games very cheap.
