Hemoglobin is essential for blood-gas homeostasis. This video introduces the basic structural/functional features of the hemoglobin protein, then uses these features to explain key aspects of the oxyhemoglobin disassociation curve. Topics include: positive cooperativity, allosteric inhibition, hemoglobin % saturation, blood O2 content, a-vO2 difference, and Hb-O2 binding affinity (quantified by the P50).
