All you did was repeat that you need the right bandsaw blade. If it’s in your vid title, I was expecting you to give some guidance on selecting blades to match the metal.
Heck yeah! This video is cool! The car build is coming out really nice but seeing the equipment you use is also something ppl can learn off from you. Keep it up man. I’ve learn a lot watching you’re videos
Well damn! I'm getting ready to make a couple of skinner knives out of 3/16" thick 440C steel and all I have is a table top ( 9" I think ) bandsaw for wood, I think it's a Skil or Ryobi, something like that, not a huge brand name, but I also have a Hercules 4 1/2" angle grinder so it looks like I'd be better off cutting it with an angle grinder (with a cutting wheel obviously) and cleaning it up with a belt sander.?.? I was hoping to be able to use my bandsaw but doesn't look like it's gonna work. 😕
So, I know this vid is a couple years old. What blade should I get for Aluminum with a porta band? And how are your Harbor Freight saws holding up? I'm going to get one in a couple days. Thanks!!
They hold up pretty good. Get the warranty on it for sure though. I’d get a 14tpi blade for aluminum. And just keep some scrap steel on stand by to run into the blade after every cut of aluminum to clean the aluminum chunks out of the blade.
I think this rule also applies to cutting aluminum with a cutoff wheel and sanding wheels for the angle grinders. The only issue might be cross contamination of metals which could later cause rust.
