Home Made Salsa Cruda or Pico De Gallo Is Simple To Make and all you need is a handful of items from the store. May reminds me of warmer weather and sitting outside with friends enjoying no cook appetizers like this one. This is perfect for anytime and is best if made a day ahead for the flavors to develop. If you celebrate Cinco De Mayo, this is one simple dish that you can make to celebrate that day.
The names Pico de Gallo and Salsa Cruda are used interchangeably in the US and sometimes people just refer to it as salsa. The ingredients for Salsa Cruda are tomatoes, garlic, onions, jalapeno, cilantro and lime. There are different variations like mango, kiwi or strawberry that you can add to your salsa cruda or pico de gallo. You can add other ingredients depending on your tastes and the variations are endless for salsa cruda.

Recipe -
1 large tomato puréed
I large tomato diced
1 jalapeño minced
1 jalapeño slice in 1/4 round slices (for garnish)
4 garlic cloves minced
Juice of 1 or two limes depends on acidity of limes
1 small red onion chopped
2 scallion minced white and green parts
1/4 of chopped cilantro
3 tablespoons of olive oil
Salt to taste

Mmmmmmmm I love a good pico. I love the mini food processor. So much easier to clean. The close up photos at the end were so enticing. Beautiful job. I would have needed a whole bunch of those chips to taste test that. :)

This is so versatile and pairs perfectly with so many dishes! I'm making the Turkish version of this almost every week, but also love this one I agree with the cilantro / coriander leaves. Whenever the recipe contains cilantro, I'm using parsley instead, if not mandatory :)

There's absolutely no comparison with the store bought stuff is there? This deliciously fresh Pico De Gallo looks sensational Chef. I never would have thought of pureeing the tomatoes like that, genius! No cilantro in this one but definitely there would be some in mine I love the stuff!!! Love pico de gallo, I do not have such a small food processor, but I try to cut them very finely. I love the seeds from jalapeño! Love the first shot with the moving nachos. Looks delicious, I have to say that I love to make it and in the morning pouring on a frying pan with scramble eggs. Love the movie!

I like how you pureed the tomatoes in the food processor but left the remaining ingredient intact to provide some texture. The is such a simple but tasty salsa that can be used in a variety of dishes/applications. Looks awesome!

Good stuff Alexis! I always make my own pico de gallo! Get way more of it for way cheaper... plus the satisfaction of doing it yourself :-) I usually skip the blender though, I like mine nice and chunky.

This Pico De Gallo looks AMAZING! I loved all the tips...like the..."SHAKE IT!" HAHA!! Really enjoyed your insert of the pepper and all the different parts of it. We have to keep the cilantro out when my cousin comes over too. I like that you blend a little of the tomatoes to give it a little more thickness. I have to try that! Always love your editing, don’t know if I ever tell you. You know what I always have in my refrigerator ... pico. What no cilantro ?? Who are you hanging out with ?? Just kidding. I love cilantro I actually don’t understand people who don’t. You know what’s crazy when I moved here, I went into restaurants here and they put cabbage in their pico. I thought that’s crazy and then I tried it and loved it.

Sonia yes, you have told me you like the editing..I have not heard of the cabbage thing. That is something I am going to have to try because the texture would be amazing. Are these restaurants in US or Canada? I have got to try it....

Hi Kathryn- yea you can do that. Also as a suggestion Morton’s has a salt substitute that has no sodium in it and tastes similar to salt. The main ingredient in the substitute is potassium chloride instead of sodium chloride ( which is table salt) I hope this helps- have a great weekend.

@@TheOtherSideOfTheStove it does! I’ve heard that some people say it has a metallic (?) aftertaste and others, such as kidney patients can’t have it due to the potassium but because I take diuretics I can have the potassium. I’ve been hesitant but I’ll try it! Thank you sincerely.
