I show how I do a pin stitch to start and a pin stitch to finish when stitching 1 over 1. In this example I am using 25 count fabric.
Here are written instructions to follow along with video if you have audio issues:
To start a thread. Go down through the center of where your X should be splitting the fabric strand creating a hole. Leave a tail sticking out on top of your fabric. Come up through the fabric hole you would normally use if starting your X (for me that's the bottom left hole) Go back down through the 1st hole you created that has the tail stiching out. (Don't pull the tail through. Come up in the diagonal hole (for me it's the top right). Go back down through the center hole you created with the tail sticking out. Pin stitch that creates 1st leg of your X is now done. Cut floss tail that's sticking out flush to your fabric. Carry on going up through bottom right hole and down through top left hole to completed your full X.
To end a thread. Come up through the bottom of the of the center strand of fabric splitting the fabric to create a new hole. Go down through the center of that same fabric strand creating a 2nd hole. Up through the top of that same fabric strand creating a 3rd. Down through the center hole again(the 2nd one you created). The pin stitch is now done. Come up through the 1st hole you created and cut your floss flush with your fabric.
