To feel your soul being Enlightened through the Power of music. And Pink Floyd changed my life forever and the way I listen and feel the Cosmic Vibrations of Music, Calling Me.
my parents were lucky enough to see them in Toronto for the division bell tour (the tour for this concert), at least i got to see David Gilmour Back in 2016 for his solo tour.
I was privileged to see them in Syracuse NY Carrier Dome on D-Day 1994. I was doubly blessed that day as we had second row seats on the floor in the second section back from the stage. I think for the entire concert I watched with my mouth agape. There really is NO other band like Pink Floyd live. Not only are they very talented individuals that compose an amazing band, their visual interpretations of their music really is other worldly.
It is so rewarding seeing a young guy like you rocking out to the kind of stuff us older folks get off on - love the appreciation you show, keep it up!
You have to watch when David Gilmour gets on his lap steel guitars for One Of These Days, High Hopes and Great Gig In The Sky and then his Fender Telecaster for Run Like Hell. Then his fender strat on A Saucerful Of Secrets at the Pink Floyd Live At Pompeii movie version.
"How does he do that"...It's a combination of Harmonics - Feedback - Skill - and Wizardry... No one squeezes the emotions out of the soul of a Stratocaster quite like Dave...
I saw then first time in 1970. (Giving my age away).Astronomy Domine 1970 was amazing for that age." I v'e loved them ever since. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-5uj8IIzbrv8.html
Yep, I was born in 62 and I totally agree with you. I started playing guitar at 4, drums at 8 and keyboards at 10, so I always listened to good musicianship and Floyd were right at the top. Us old buggers grew up with the best music ever written and I feel so sad that kids today listen to such shit. which is why I like this guy.
first of all nice reaction second pink Floyd is not a rock band its gnre of music thet cant come up with a name for it yet it has a lot of conceptual work in it in their albums but it is not only concept albums and it is as sure as hell ain't what they call progressive rock and no one speaks guitar like Mr david gilmore
Pink Floyd came up with their name in recognition of 2 Black American southern blues musicians: PINK Anderson and FLOYD Council. David Gilmour, Rick Wright and Nick Mason were with Pink Floyd since the 1960’s. They would have been around age 50 at the time of the Pulse concert in 1994.
Loving your reactions man. You haven't really scratched the surface of what this band is all about with their brilliant concept studio albums, but let's stick with the live stuff for now. Check out "High Hopes" or "Money" from them next from this same Pulse concert video. You are seeing and hearing why this band has become the legends that they are.
I Like You, Easily See Yer a Smart Young Man & the Real Deal, No BS, & without question, Genuinely Dign Jam'n to Floyd.... So.Strap in, cause Your in for a Helluva Ride, as the Journey's just begun, gotta admitt, I'm a bit envious... Peace Out......& Rock On Beyond
I love how amazed you are that they are this good. Been listening to them for 45 years. Same concert, COMING BACK TO LIFE, SHINE ON YOU CRAZY DIAMOND, HIGH HOPES, LEARNING TO FLY, TIME, RUN LIKE HELL. All are epic.
Pink Floyd is not only on another level - they are in another stratosphere. Their attention to detail and dedication to putting on a quality, precision performance are to be admired.
Pink Floyd is as much a part of my life as eating, sleeping, or anything else! There's not a day that goes by that I don't listen to at least one song if not a whole album, for decades now! For the record, their music is meant to be listened to by playing the whole album start to finish! No one can touch Pink Floyd!
I have been listening to Pink Floyd for the last 45 years and couldn't imagine life without their music. I wish someone would have a word with my girlfriend though and make her see the light. I have been trying to convince her for the last 10 years but she is not keen and thinks it is sh!t. Sometimes I think she is determined not to like it because I do! 🙂
@@peterbdavies have her just read the lyrics, maybe she is missing the message because she not listening to truly give it a chance. How can anyone not love the lyrics of songs like 'On The Turning Away' 'Wish You Were Here' 'Us And Them' and I could go on and on and on!
I'm so glad to see our young ones, especially the ones in the rap bubble, if you will, step out of the bubble and join us older rockers. Unity is the key. Doesn't matter your age, who you are, where your from, this music unifies us all!
This is my favorite part of the reaction videos. As big a fan as I am, Everytime I watch new reactors do these songs I have an even bigger love and appreciation for them. Love watching you get Floyded brother. Keep it going, still a ton of great material to cover
Me too,the night after the seating collapsed. We all floated out of earls court and onto the tube, everyone stunned by what they had just witnessed. Greatest concert of all time bar none.
Jim M before me nailed it, I'll just add "High Hopes" from Pulse to the list. Nice reaction POPENYCO, sounds like you are in the process of being "Floyded" buddy. That's an affliction that has no cure, but it is treatable by listening to as much Pink Floyd as possible! Lol! All kidding aside buddy, there is sooo much great PF music out there to enjoy, it's crazy man. I mean they've been around from 1965, to when they released their final Pink Floyd album in 2014, that's 49 years! Then after 2014, Gilmour continued performing Pink Floyd music under his own name, David Gilmour. Another incredible PF song that is a standout is "Time" from the Dark Side Of The Moon album in 1973, one of the highest grossing album in history, not just Rock & Roll history, all music albums in history! The Dark Side Of The Moon album has been on Billboard 200 album chart since it's release in 1973, that's over 1000 weeks! Second on the all time list of weeks on the Billboards 200 chart is Bob Marleys' 'Marley and the Wailers' Legend, at 510 weeks. If you react to "Time",... the best cu to react to, imo, is the studio version of it on the Dark Side Of The Moon album. Cheers Buddy!
I'm glad Pink Floyd has broadened your musical horizons! Welcome to the community of fans of unique experiences ... And you ask how David Gilmour does it? He is a magician with a Fender Stratocaster guitar and has talent from God.
At a Floyd concert that play with a quadraphonic sound system. The music comes at you from every direction. Sometime listen without earplugs and a lot of power so your whole body is being vibrated. The feeling a person has after a concert is offered the hook.
Yep.... this is just phenomenal! David up there lookin like the average guy. Not trying to impress with costume or bling. It's simply an outstanding and mind blowing performance with great guitar work. High quality....all professional, triple A class production. Great reaction!
The Pulse concert is just amazing and 'Sorrow' is my personal favorite from that concert. A couple of other great ones from Pulse are 'Money' and 'High Hopes.' Pink Floyd (the band) was founded in 1965. Their original visionary/guitarist was Syd Barrett, but due to his mental health challenges, he was replaced by David Gilmour in 1968. Another original band member, Roger Waters, became their primary songwriter and was also the bass player. The band's most famous albums all have lyrics written by Roger Waters. He left the band in 1985 and then David Gilmour took over Pink Floyd. The Pulse concerts happened in 1994, which was their last live tour as Pink Floyd. David Gimour retired the band in 2014 (the keyboard player, Richard Wright, passed away in 2008). I was fortunate to see David Gilmour in concert as a solo act in 2016. He doesn't tour very often, but the tour went through Chicago that year so I knew I had to go. It was an amazing show; he was 70 years old that year and his guitar playing and singing still phenomenal. If you ever want to see a more recent Gilmour performance from that year, I"d also check out 'David Gilmour, Live from Pompeii 2016.'
I'm probably giving my age away...but the first time I saw Pink Floyd was in Hyde Park 1970. As it was an open- air concert , the sound was distorted, but most of us agreed that there was "something different about them" which separated them from other bands of that era. It didn't take that long to realize they really were different. After seeing photos of them soon after in MM, I realized I had seen David Gilmore. We both had the same length of hair (like half of the people back then). David always seemed to have an unfriendly look in his eyes, but through the years, after listening to many interviews I came to realize that he really is quite a nice guy. One thing I like about him (besides his guitar playing of course), is the fact that not only does he have a good voice. He sings without accent and you can understand very word he sings. I'm so happy to have grown up in this era.
When you've finished with the songs from this concert go back to their earlier years with "Echoes "" live from Pompeii. Then work your way through their albums
Love that you do the PULSE concert reactions, I usually don't like to listen to music from a concert - but this is a whole other deal. Great reactions, man, keep it up :)
Pink Floyd are musical geniuses who have taken their craft to a completely different level than most musicians could ever dream of. They create a recipe of sound that is baked together at different temperatures so your ears are satisfied and your soul is full of ethereal well being. Nice video brother. Peace,Love and Unity.
The song seems to peak for me on the Theres dust in my eyes that blinds my sight. It's a powerful phrasing of notes and energy. Another heavy slow E minor blues masterpiece.
I was there. You are seriously gonna love the rest of the concert. Try " keep talking" from the same concert, or one of these days, or run like hell. Their Delicate Sound of Thunder concert is also superb with excellent songs.
I am a pinkfloyd fan over 40 years first time seen them live in 1980 earls court londen ( the wall ) and later 3 times in the netherlands. still love their music.. there is a lot to discover for you.. have fun, and i will wait for your next pink floyd reaction.
I was lucky enough to see this tour in San Diego at Jack Murphy Stadium (RIP) back in April of 1994. To this day, it is by far the best concert that I have ever seen and I've been to a lot of concerts. Welcome to the PINK FLOYD journey, it only gets better. If you live in one the cities that David Gilmour is touring in 2022 I highly suggest going, if you can get tickets.
When people think of guitar solos this song probably doesn't come to mind, which is truly a shame. Because this has got to be in the top 5 of all time. It's breath taking amazing
And this is how the Pro's do it. Only a small handful of Masterclass bands out there , this is one of the few. Thank God for Pink Floyd. I don't know if I would wanna live in a world without them.
To feel your soul being Enlightened through the Power of music. And Pink Floyd changed my life forever and the way I listen and feel the Cosmic Vibrations of Music, Calling Me.
Listening to it live brings another dimension to the song... The E minor chords in begining getting feedbacked by the amps make the ground shake. Just before the introductory verse is presented. Very synesthetic feeling. Definitely a piece of art.
that guitar at the beginning is so loud but so low you could feel it through the floor... it vibrated the very seat you were in, and the lasers looked so low you could just put your hand up into them (they weren't) but it felt like it
Love this track both live and the studio version. Great concerts played at Earls Court in London in 94 and I was fortunate to have been there. Welcome to The Floyd! Best wishes from across the pond.
Me gustan mucho tus reacciones, se nota que eres un grandísimo aficionado a la música. Esta ha sido genial, se notaba tu absoluto disfrute y delirio. Es increible este concierto, increible.
I was fortunate enough to have been at the Pink Floyd Pulse concert in May 1994 which was their last tour as that group. That was the most ethereal concert I have ever attended. I am a professional musician but I must say, this concert was the best I ever seen or attended....bar none! All of the 70k attendees including me were totally mesmerized through the whole show. Cheers from Connecticut, Dave.
IMO, this performance of "Sorrow" is quite a bit more powerful than "Comfortably Numb", and the ending solo is more highly structured and visceral. Pink Floyd, and David Gilmour in particular, show us what emotion sounds like. There will NEVER be a group of musicians to match them. While I'm at it, a big shout out to Guy Pratt (bass), Tim Renwick (additional guitar), Jon Carin (second keys), Gary Wallis (second drums/percussion), and the chorus -Sam, Durga, & Claudia.
K, You sold me, I subscribed. You do your homework, watched you react to "Comfortably Numb" first time. Saw you respond to comments and learned a few things. Nice, I like that. Also love your reactions to Pink Floyd I look forward to future reviews you do. Enjoy the journey.
Faith in humanity: Restored. I saw this live, and to this day nothing comes even close of the emotional roller coaster. I left the arena in a mixed state of numbness and exhilaration that never happened since.
I REALLY LIKE YOUR REACTION BRO! AND YOU'RE RIGHT, AT THE END YOU SAY, IT'S MAYBE EVEN A BETTER SONG, AND SOLO ON GUITAR THAT COMFORTABLY NUMB! I'M AGREED! THAT ATMOSPHERE THEY CREATING IN THAT SONG IS FABULOUS, COMING FROM ANOTHER WORLD! I ALREADY MADE A COVER OF COMFORTABLY NUMB WITH FRIENDS, BECAUSE THE SONG IS NOT SO COMPLICATE, BUT SORROW, IS 100 TIMES MORE COMPLICATE, BECAUSE OF ALL THE SOUNDS, ÉQUIPEMENT NECESSARY TO PLAY IT.....
Pink Floyd reaction??? You just earned a sub. Strap in and let them take you places. Dark side of the moon Wish you were here Animals Momentary lapse of reason Division bell Meddle The endless river The wall Pulse - the best concert ever followed by Delicate sound of thunder Go on a ride man. Gilmour and the fellas are iconic musicians. Find the lyrics and let them take you on their trips. Guaranteed you will never be the same.
Many years ago I read in a guitar magazine that David Gilmour is deemed the Undisputed Dean of the Compound Bend and has pretty much flawless note placement. He admits that he never was a fast playing guitarist. But what he lacks there he sure knows how to make that guitar sing. 🎸
Have you listened to any Pink Floyd albums? I would recommend Dark Side of the Moon and Wish You Were Here, both concept albums; the songs blend into each other.
There is a quote out in the ether, I hope I get it right "Leo Fender created the Stratocaster & God created David Gilmour to teach the world how to play it". Another one is "Rockers plug their guitar into an amplifier, but David Gilmour plugs his into his soul". Thanks for sharing your discovery of great music with us! #popenyco #pinkfloyd
"Sorrow" is very strong medicine. Absolutely incredible piece of work. If you haven't already heard it, I strongly recommend "On the Turning Away" for a more uplifting one with every bit as good guitar work.
11:59. . to 12:15 . . . He's playing *ONE NOTE*. . . Just ONE NOTE!!! For 16 seconds!!!. . . And he produces about 12 harmonics during that time. . Some players would play 16,249 notes in that 16 seconds. . . and sound like CRAP! David Gilmour can play ONE NOTE hand hold you SPELLBOUND!!!
2:04 -- I do remember that I was relatively close to the stage during the concert, and the ground was almost shaking on every notes that David played right there. The sound was really imposing and impressive! The guitar was like "a really powerful instrument of a God, speaking to you directly, and transporting you in a different universe", so to speak. We can almost "feel" the bass with the headphones, but as you can imagine: meh, it's definitely not the same thing at all, sadly, but yes ... "almost", hehe.
