Pinnacle Studio 20 Ultimate split screen. The split screen tutorial for Pinnacle Studio will show you how to create split screens with templates and show you how to create your own custom slit screen. Go to the navigation bar and navigate yourself to Montages and Templates. Select Split screen template. Drag a template to the timeline. You can Double click to open the template preview. You can access clips from your open tabs of open new tabs if needed. Then you can drag clips to the template. You can also drag clips to the numbers below the preview. I'm gonna click OK to show you the other option for adding clips. Right click the template. Select Open sub-editor. Drag the clips you'd like to use into each track. To change the position of a clip in the template. Click on the selected split screen track. Click on the PIP scale button under the preview window. PIP Scale will allow you to change the size and position of the clip. Using the splits as guidelines you can scale and reposition the clip to where it fits best. Then click the PIP Scale button again to go back to the original view. Click OK and now you've got a lovely split screen for your videos. We're done with the split screen templates so next I'm gonna show you how to create custom split screens. Above the timeline click on the split screen template creator icon. Select the shapes you'd like to use and add them to the canvas. You can change the rotation, border width, border color, and apply the changes to all of the shapes you used. Click Save As to save the template. Name the template. Click OK.

Maliek: Thank you for making Pinnacle 22 understandable. I was ready to toss it till I came upon your RU-vid Channel. I assumed that your instructions on Pinnacle 21 would apply to 22 and your clear and concise directions opened it all up to me. PLEASE KEEP ON. Your method for teaching is a breath of fresh air. I have been a Pinnaclle user for many years. I stopped at P18. When I purchased P22 it was a whole new program and I was just about to go to my copy of Adobe Premiere which I purchased at about the same time. I quickly gave up on Premiere because their built- in tutorial sucks. Again, Thank you. I am now a loyal follower.

Thanks for the tips, i just purchased P.S. 21 Ultimate and was able to create and export an amazing quality video I took of a couple's wedding ceremony. It took less time then normal and the quality is so much better than I ever had it come out in the past. I'll be sending the happy couple their video later today :)

Your videos are wonderful. I have ZERO experience using any type of editing software. As a matter of fact up until 2 years ago I had never posted anything online or downloaded a video. Your tutorials are amazing and so easy to understand. You can see from my first video to my most recent video the improvements I've made. Even though I don't have a great deal of time to devote to learning new tools I do try to pick up something new each time I edit a video. Your tutorials have been a tremendous help.

This is terrific! I have been waiting for ages for something like this in Pinnacle. I once saw something similar in the War memorial and wanted a chance to do the same. Hi there and many thanks for your easy-to-follow tutorials. I'm messing around with this new split screen thing but I can't find a way of taking sections out of long videos and then entering them into the split screen template. Adding original video to the split screen editor and then cutting and repositioning them takes forever. Any advice? Thanks.

very good video ... i still havent found the answer to my question tho .... i want to make a split screen in the middle of a 6 minute video using the two videos that im working with . i cant figure out how to select the section of the 6 minute videos that i want to split screen, i can only split the first 10 seconds of each video... if you can answer i would appreciate it greatly, since pinnacle doesnt really offer any support.

This is very helpful but I am stuck on something. I'm trying to create a try-on haul of clothing where I am talking on the main screen about pieces of clothing and then trying them on in a smaller split. But I can't figure out how to get sound on any of it. Once I create a split screen it's always muted. Any advice out there? TIA

I really dont think it matters which version of Pinnacle you have ... I figured out how to make split screen on my version 21 Ultimate, from watching your Pinnacle 20 Split screen tutorial ... Once get the hang of Pinnacle ... it is easy to figure out ... What do you think about buying the upgrades they are always offereing at the beginning when you open up Pinnacle ???

Whenever i'm editing, the preview screen flickers for some clips and goes completely black for some clips. It's a pain to try and edit when seeing blackness. Is there a way to fix this?

Seems I deleted my own comment when I went to update it oops. This new split screen has messed up the way PIP used to work. The darking out of the other layers makes it impossible to line up objects and other elements like Arrows and Circles in your video. I do hope Pinnacle works on fixing this as a feature I used to use every day now no longer works for something that might never get used or hardly ever used. You could click the old PIP over the time line take you masked image like and arrow, circle, Thumbs up and place them in the needed location. Now that can not be done as the lower image is way to dark.

Corel is aware that people are not pleased with the new look of PIP. I'm hopeful that they change it back to the way it was. Only time will tell.

What about the sound issues with split screen ??? I mean you lose the sound in the video you put in the split screen ... I know I can put a sound track in one of the rows ... but ... I didn't want to lose the sound in all of the split screens ???

As a new Studio 25 user I start searching the internet for easy explanations. You nail that! Video's are short, a big red arrow to show what you do,.. Due to this video I tried to do this split screen. But if you use fe the diamond (01 till 03) then I don't know how you get rid of all that white around your 4 split screens. If you use the "scrapbook" then I understand you want to show it all. But a stupid white background doesn't seems to be right. I tried with transperantie, but that doesn't do the trick. And if I want to betcolor it, then I don't know how you can lift white instead of green or blue. I'm sure there is a easy solution to this. Do you know the answer?

Maliek, another great instructional video. I'm still on 19.5 so the feature isn't available but it's nice to know it can be had thru an upgrade. Question - can these split screens be adapted to a channel intro to run for say 8 seconds and then one of the screens expand out to become the full length video?

Hey... great videos. I was editing for the first time last night, I added pics to the outro and the editing screen including all the pics shrunk on me. I can not not get the pics large enough to get the cursor in to make them longer. Did I hit a shrink button???

Hi Maliek, Thank you for your videos, it's really helpful. I have couple of questions regarding split screen. Is there any proper way how to use already cut video from timeline in split screen subeditor? The only way I found, is to copy video from timeline and paste it into subeditor window. But the problem is, that doing in such way, numbers of screen stays. How to remove these numbers? Another thing, with using Split Screen Template editor button. Is there any way how to specify in which track Split Screen template will appear after creating it? Because now, it;s appearing anywhere it wants, in the middle of existing flow :) Thank you!

If you want to use video that you edited, you need to export that video to a new file, then open the split screen editor and add it from the library. That is the only way.

Your proposed method is too complicated. Yesterday I found how to remove these numbers. So here is action sequence: 1) Drag split screen template on timeline; 2) Cut video on same timeline; 3) Copy (ctrl+c) video cut from timeline; 4) Open subeditor for split screen template; 5) Paste (ctrl+v) to first track (1); 6) Delete preloaded black video with number one (1); 7) Create title after video and delete it (this will remove number (1) of your splitted video) Works fine for me with 20.6 and saves a lot of time. Another thing, with using Split Screen Template editor button. Is there any way how to specify in which track Split Screen template will appear after creating it? Because now, it's appearing anywhere it wants, in the middle of existing flow :)

7 steps seems a lot more complicated than 3 steps to me. 😃 I guess complication is in the eye of the beholder. It's all good. Are you left clicking on the Track you want and placing your playhead where you want when you select the add a template?

Hi, great video. Is it possible to synchronize the video's? For example if you wish to record a tutorial and the 2 video's have a 2 second difference in starting time and you wish to start them at the same moment? Thanks

You can use the multi-cam feature to sync them up if the audio is the same in both videos. Watch my audio sync tutorial.

Yes, sir nice!!! Thanks. I'm assuming I can add a transition as well, in the split screen option, right??? Example: lets say screen one is talking about something, then screen two, drops in with footage of the talking points from screen one. I hope that make sense. You can't add more than one clip per screen so you can't use transitions in the split screen.

After you added the 2nd line, how did you get 1, 2, 3 to line up? I can hear you do some key clicks, but you didn't explain what you did. Thanks for this, I much prefer making my own templates. Next is how to sync two or more video clips from two different video sources. Love you tutorials.

I went to Rotation and changed it to 90. That way the line would have a 90 degree angle and would match the other line.

Great vid! I have a strange issue. When I drag a new gopro clip onto the timeline, the colors in the clip become all tinted. The blue sky has a purple hue. This is all without touching any effects at all. When I go into the effects editor and click corrections, the colors all look perfect in the preview. Then I exit out...and the colors in the timeline go back to the purple hue. I appreciate any help you may have. This one has me really scratching my head.

G;day, I purchased PSUltimate 23 and it is slow and sluggish - also keeps crashing. Hardware i7 2TB HDD 512GB SSD 16GB Ram, Nvidia Graphics Card (latest) - support received from Corel required several exercises, namely delete all the old install, temp files etc - reinstall - still no joy. Transitions are slow to take effect (wait a few seconds) and trimming clips takes longer. Corel "Support" closed the case with the ISSUE STILL UNRESOLVED. While working on my editing with frustration, the software crashed again. Any help would be appreciated. Kind regards...and thanks Harry

I have Pinnacle Studio Ultimate 20.5 with patch update and split screen does not work. I do not have any Templates under Montage directory. When I click on the icon for split screen I get the following message: "Default Montage Template wasn't found in the installed content. Montage Template Editor can't be opened." Any ideas what is wrong?

Hello Mr. Maliek or anyone else out there reading this. I haven't upgraded to Studio 20 yet. I'm still using 15. I'm sure this is a simple fix, but for the life of me I can't figure it out. When I type my titles, they appear as Small Caps. I've tried typing them in word and cut & paste them into the titles, but I get the same result. How do I change the text to upper & lower case?

Usually this happens when you update your PC. If you can find out how to change your system font size to Standard it should fix the issue. If not, there are other options you can try on this post. forums.pinnaclesys.com/forums/thread/330640.aspx

Like everyone else I find your tutorials invaluable, but today I am stuck. I am editing a .avi copy of a 5 minute long 8mm film I made in 1966. I have brought it into the timeline and split it up to improve the quality. So far so good. Now I want to put two of the timeline "clips" into a split screen but I'm not sure how to do this! HELP! Anyone ... I've made many attemps at Split Screen. Can you Copy clips from Timeline to put into Split Screen panes? I want to put a sequence of several clips into a Split Screen but not have to make a Split Screen edit for each clip.

.. also, when I do Cut/Paste the clips it 'looks' like it worked BUT the Pane numbers [1, 2 etc] remain on the videos

I just watched your video on split screen, as well as the new functions of the new version 21 Ultimate. I would like to take my video's that are already on my timeline (I have already cut bits and pieces and change luminosity of certain videos). I do not want to take videos from the imported videos as they are not perfect. I searched but did not find, now is it possible to include in split screen videos that are already on the timeline. No. I would suggest that you export each individual clip with the adjustments you want. Then use those corrected clips for the split screen.

I LOOSE ALL MY AUDIO WHEN I USE SPLIT SCREEN IN PINNACLE STUDIO 20? ANY HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATED? I CAN'T SOLVE THIS ISSUE. I HAVE AUDIO EVERYWHERE ELSE IN PINNACLE.

You should create the clip prior to adding it to the split screen.

Hi Mr, Do you realy think pinnacleStudio faster than other? I cheked carefully, Its not faster than powerDirector.Allways we have to wait every transition or any text editor or something else prosesing with this programe ,the green bar coming rendering very slowly untill its compleat, even very special video editing PC its the same.Let them fix this problem. other all feature are great.only problem is slow rendring.see you
