Nice review. Holy convoluted though Batman to do simple looping or switch between pad layers ect. Wouldn't wanna deal with all that for sure especially as a beginner, much better to spend another 100 and pick up a used S9 or just save for the S7. If you really wanna get a better Battle Mixer for a beginner super budget look at Numark Scratch, you can even pick they up used all day for a couple Hundred imho. Pioneer should have given you looping and 8 pads on this unit and looked to cut the cost elsewhere so it a cheap version on the S7, you don't wanna be dealing with all that button combo layer nonsense when you trying to get you mixing/timing down ect.
Great review as always ! I loved so many features on this mixer but my only gripe was the functionality of the pads, my style of mixing is old school (purist) however I’ve really started to enjoy cues, loops and other features that help with creativity and styles of mixing . I managed to get a deal on some reloop turntables and this mixer and haven’t looked back ! I tend to just mix on the fly! I do prepare playlists but in general I let the music decide 😂so having to shift through different modes on the same 4 pads with my shocking memory 😂and style of mixing I just bought a reloop neon? I still use the pads on the mixer so doesn’t make it pointless, was only £60 so for me I use the pads on the mixer for stems and the neon for everything else . The rest of the mixer is amazing !
Its just to expensive... In comparison to the competition but also in comparison to their own lineup of battle-mixers. Its like the DDJ-FLX6 premium Price for a low end product. Just buy a used S9 for the same Price and you are good to go. :)

Hey when you use the tension control on the crossfader,does it give it that ratchet feeling like with the jog tension adjust on pioneer gear? Seeing those geared teeth has me clutching my pearls..
Dont u guys think that pioneer at the moment is not innovating but is just limiting to answering back to rivals? Rane launches the rane one, pioneer launches rev 7 Numark launches the numark skratch mixer pioneer launches the s5 mixer I feel that at the moment pioneer is not leading the market but rather replying to its competitors… What do u guys think?
They react only, but usually they do things a bit more mature like the motorized platterns outpetform the rane one. The cloud integration on cdj is more secure than on Denon. I just wish they would support Rekordbox more... Or just get rid of it and allow cdj USB stick preparation in Serato.
Pioneer lost the Leadership already a Long Time ago. Thats the reason they are focusing on the controller market, even by launching the rev Controller line up. But you all have to know, that pioneer is not eager making money with innovate dj Products.
Cross fader Cue ??? all this are killing the DJ Industry..you make people get lazy day by day just like the Sync button. Now evwryone wants to jump into Djing because there is a Sync button.
you are right but thats nothing new my friend, people are saying that for at least 10ys or more (since the sync button was "invented") and it doesnt matter what we are saying (by "we" i mean the "oldschool djs") thats not gonna change the software progress
@@kubura762 brah, I used to be neutral when I comes to the sync button back in the days , because I my self finds it handy and I use it also a lot. But broh, there are lots of rude new Djs, ones with boobs and asses etc now taking jobs and looking down on many Djs now just because there is a sync button ., now we have Cross fader Cue”. They could just make everything automated .

The price... and then the workflow 🤦♂️ if this is a beginners battle mixer- they've made it stupidly hard to access features- this is a fail by pioneer🤏🤣
