I removed all the old glue from both parts as it is brittle with a tooth pick and then also with a tooth pick for precicion applying I glued the lens back in to place with as less glue as possible....And it works fine again. Thanks for the great video.
Informational, thanks. My PD-4350 from 1989 still works great but it has never been subjected to shipping, it's had an easy life as far as handling goes but has played many CDs.
The lens on these Pioneer players has a small flat side that allows you to align it correctly. I had to remove all the glue from my player because it was everywhere on the downside of the lens. The residue made it impossible to attach the lens without deviations of the laser beam. I'd always re-adjust the focus offset settings to correct possible differences to the original factory installation.
I bought one of these online, advertised as working, and it had exactly the same problem with the clamp popping out of the socket. Looks like they really do need to be handled like eggs. Fortunately, it's an easy issue to solve. The lens hadn't fallen out though.
Hi. The laser cannot burn-in the under side of the lens because on that side the laser is unfocused. I always had problems getting the laser "eye" pattern to look quite right after a lens re-install. Only a few times was I completely happy with how they look on a scope. There are radial and tangential adjustments that can help.
Mark, if you look at a used lens under magnification it does appear to have some sort of “darkened” area on it but this may just be how it is from the factory? Maybe Pioneer should have just borrowed the glue Sony used lol.
I bought one of these a couple of years ago. I'm amazed at how fast it reads a disc. You just close that tray (with a really noisy clunk), and the disc reads immediately.
Yep, the laser burn in the lens makes it paramount to refit it the same way. Using your method is the best way I reckon. Putting in a different lens like I tried before - just doesn't work at all. A completely unused new lens might possibly work. But there are none to my knowledge.
lactobacillusprime , I have always wondered what would happen if you tried a brand new lens! The only way to know would be to find a NOS laser and remove the lens maybe?
I have the exact model as this, the top clamper will not raise up high enough to clear the tray and allow it to open. It worked perfectly a few years ago before I took it apart. I thought that I had reassembled it properly but it has malfunctioned ever since. Watching your video made me question whether or not something got left out. You mentioned a ball bearing that could fall out when disassembling. If I manually lift the top clamper the tray will open and close smoothly. Many have suggested changing the belts but I have watched it when trying to open. It does not slip at all. Any suggestions?
This is a common mistake when reassembling the clamper, look at the bottom tab that goes down into the chassis, it aligns with a plastic slider arm that’s hard to see, take the clamper back out and look at where it goes and you’ll likely see it, the ball bearing falling out want cause the clamper not to work but wil cause the tray not to operate smoothly.
hello from chile, a query I have two pioneer cd player pd-m910 and pd-m900 both have the same reader. The query I want to change the optical lens does not read the cd, I do not know how to order the replacement, you are understood in this to be able to buy the lens, what would be the series or number to be able to request the replacement from the sales service, I thank you if you can help me, thank you .
Doc, there’s no secret, the algorithm picks up every song I use the difference is my channel isn’t monetized! You can use the music, that isn’t the issue, the issue comes when you monetize, if you generate any ad revenue that would be paid to the artist (rightfully so) and not to you, or at least this is my understanding anyway.
