I tried this recipe with my new Pit Boss 1150 this evening. Would like some input on what I may have done wrong. I cooked my hamburgers (80/20) at the same temp and cooked them for an hour. Even after an hour my burgers had only reached around 135 degrees. I cooked them on the higher rack like you did in the video. Thanks in advance.
Thanks for the video. Just bought my first Pit Boss 850 Pro. Can you place burgers on the bottom rack and does it make a difference? Is there a temperature difference between top and bottom racks?
That would depend on your cooker as to temp differences. Heat rises though, so there’s that. You can do them on the bottom grates. You’re cooking to an internal temperature regardless, so doesn’t matter much. Congrats on the purchase!
How are you getting that much smoke? Do the cookin pellets make a difference? I'm using bear mountain in an Austin xl but looks like you're getting more consistent smoke than me. What's the secret?
Not sure man, use a smoke tube too if you’re not getting the smoke you want. I’ve had zero issues with mine using both brands of pellets. The Cookin pellets are no joke tho
Premium cooking pellets are the best pellets for flavor and smoke ,I make burgers all the time I love it and I love what you guys do you guys are the reason I purchased a pellet smoker thank you for all your videos and you're awesome too
Thanks man, I really appreciate that! My typically days are Friday’s at 4pm (CST), of course there’s some circumstances where I may post on another day. Thanks again for watching brother!
@@AshKickinBBQ -Thank you!!! Yeah, thinking of smoking but a quick 1 minute sear but wasn't sure if that step is needed. When I smoke tri-tip it adds a lot to give it a quick reverse sear after smoking. Thank you again!
I’ll never understand ytpipo not mixing seasoning into the burgers… the one time you can guarantee seasoning all throughout the meat and you don’t. But smoking them is the way. Nice cook.
The only issue with mixing seasoning into the meat like that is if you handle the ground meat too much, it drastically effects the texture. If this was a meatloaf, I’d season the meat for sure. Burgers I try to avoid it at all costs if I can. Thanks!
@@AshKickinBBQ I’ve sent in a email to pitboss, my Laredo 1000 took an hour to light and get to 225! Only my third cook and vacuum and dump the ash pot before every cook!
@@alexanders7730When you’re first starting them up, leave the lid open. Once the first plume of smoke finishes, then close the lid to heat up. If you try starting it with the lid closed, the initial smoke can choke itself out and cause issues.
Great video, you're a good teacher. Nice job letting us know grill temperature, cooking times, and smoke flavor of the finished burgers. Best pellet grill burger video on this site. This recipe has worked great for me. Thank you.
Looks good! I just got my pit boss combo. I'm gathering tips and recipes. I'm definitely going to try this one. At 6:39 your dog was looking for a taste!
Man, these burgers are so good! Thanks for watching, and congrats on your purchase! Haha, she's always making a brief appearance in almost every video!
