Especially with that clean comparison at the end, I think it’s time for an “evolution of my form” video where we can see some of the mistakes early 2 handed bowlers can make, and you can give commentary on what you did to correct it, I’d love to see that and it sounds like a fun video to make and reflect on!
Dudeeee this video is perfect I was actually thinking about buying this ball then BAM I see your video on this ball review. Frank you’re a legend thanks brother!
It is quite fitting you review the Pitch Black when Jesper Svensson, "The King of Urethane", won Indianapolis Open some days ago! Its amazing to compare the first Pitch Black video and this one, the progression of your game is rock solid.
I find it that this ball does good for me when I give it a small loft over the front and get it out to the five board. The fronts burn up too quick for me leaving ten pins if i miss left
I think your form has improved a lot. I think the next big jump for you would be learning how different layouts can improve your ball motion and surface adjustments. Bowling Science and Radical both have a lot of information on both of those. Good luck on your continuous improvement!
can you do a video on how u rotate your right wrist when u release the ball. im also 2 handed and am having trouble putting forward spin on the ball. thanks
Nice video. I’m a two handed bowler as well and bowl pretty straight. Would you recommend the pitch black? I like balls that don’t hook much like house balls lol and the hustle camo
Hey Frank! You might already know me, but after all the old ball reviews you should try and do a video of just going over your bowling form? If not that's totally fine, just wondering!
Hey man. I like your videos a lot. I have a question for you because you've revealed a lot of bowling balls and I feel like I need something to expand my arsenal. My local bowling center gets really tight left of 6 or 7. So I tend to go 12-15 out to 1-3 with a Halo Vision (I'm a righty and I use my thumb). Could you possibly recommend a few balls that you feel are good for playing inside angles? I'd ask my pro shop guy but his recommendations don't seem to work too good for me lol. Sorry for the essay question and keep up the good work!
Well a halo vision is a high performance ball. That should be great for playing inside angles. But if you want suggestions then try - gravity evolve - crux prime - omega crux - Astrophysixs - phaze iii But remember as well if the ball is hooking back to the pocket try slowing that ball speed to allow the ball time to hook back to the pocket. I do it all the time and it works like a charm.
It is possible. My coach told me "using a Fever Pitch for spares is a luxury". I told him yes it was, because if you use an urethane ball with 4.0 of hook, you need to control your wrist and your speed so good that the hook can be measured, and it is more expensive than a polyester ball. However, it is a challenge to do it, and I accepted it with my 2 handed style. NO FEAR TO THE HOOK! Ask Frank how he does it.
Hey Frank, may you do a review on the Hammer Rip’d Pearl? Or perhaps give me a recommendation? I’m a fellow two handed bowler, follow the same bowling style you do. I have the Ebonite Cyclone and the Storm Crux Prime and am searching to add one more to my arsenal. I’m having a hard time choosing between the Pitch Black (higher RG, better for dry lanes) or the Hammer Rip’d Pearl (lower RG, better as I work on more speed) Appreciate it! And your videos are awesome! Exactly what I’m looking for to research on balls! - Kevin
mkiyechad Well I can tell you now that the crux prime is your high performance and your ebonite cyclone is like your medium performance ball. I say get the pitch black because it’s lower mid performance and your filling a gap in your arsenal by acquiring that ball. Plus I’ve been told by a lot of very “Experienced” people that urethane in your arsenal is a must have.
I currently have the phase 3 as my strike ball and a tzone as my spare. I’m thinking about getting the pitch black to use when the lanes start to break down more because I only throw it 14 mph and when the lanes break down my phase 3 starts to break early. Should I?
The fast pitch is different, it responds later but hooks more then the pitch black. And Honestly, depending on your speed and rev rate, it may or may not be a good fit
very interesting, thank you for your comment. A coach want me to play the Fast Pitch to control the pocket with my High Rev. According to him, I would be able to handle House pattern as well
Pitch black. If you look at my pitch purple review. You’ll see that both bowling balls are practically the same. The only difference is that the purple has a little bit more kick at the back end. Believe me if you want to score higher much easier then pitch black is the one.
FrankTheTank I did watch both ball review and I appreciate the feed back... the pitch black definitely has a nice Smooth roll and the pitch Purple does have some kick into it on the backend... again thank you 🙏🏼 and keep up the vlogs...
Any idea if Urethane as a spare ball would be a good idea FrankTheTank? I just got the Pitch Black recently and I am having troubles finding the pocket I am a right hander.
Sure. A lot of pros use urethane as a spare ball. However ive never seen two handers ever use urethane as a spare. One handers I have seen do this because they can flatten there hand better then two handers on release to give the ball forward roll.
FrankTheTank thanks so much! Fyi I’m actl a two handed bowler haha and I jus picked up 5 months ago and sometimes the ball hook too early is it possibly due to my speed being slow?
Hey man! Im playing Pitch Black myself. I have a problem with my release, the oil pattern comes over one of my finger holes. Do you have the same problem? Love ur vids.
That’s hard to say. There’s a lot of great bowling balls out there. And yeah that ball should still work. A ball is a ball, doesn’t matter when it was made and it doesn’t matter when the lanes were made. Just take care of that ball and maintain it’s performance as well.
The Gigliotti's yup, but like I said make sure you take care of the ball. If it’s not working properly then take it to a pro shop and have it fully restored.
From the side you might look like Belmo but from the back it's not even close. The dude Is so smooth it's crazy not a huge belmo fan either but he's definitely a phenomenal bowler no doubt. Duuuuuuukeeee is my man slow smooth and accurate. He's the sniper out of the bunch
