Pixels - Nostalgia Critic 

Sean Bean survived the movie. That is how clueless the writers are. You cast Sean Bean in a movie about a potential apocalypse and didn't kill him off... What they should have done is have a running joke where Sean Bean's character keeps dying over and over again and coming back to life because it's like a video game and he has a certain amount of lives. That is how you use an actor in a comedy... Not fart jokes with Peter Dinklage.

My Dad and younger brothers love this movie and they say that Star Wars sucks. Help me please.

Has anyone else noticed that almost every Adam Sandler movie starts off with a flashback to his childhood? o_O

I thought the reason people disliked the movie so much (besides it being bad) was because A) it mocked gamers and depicted the worst stereotype of them, and B) it pandered to that stereotype. Basically, it sucked on a completely new and revolutionary level (as far as I know).

I'll be honest, the part of the movie that pissed me off the most is the part where Pac-Man's creator tried to talk to Pac-Man. He talks about how Pac-Man shouldn't be killing anyone, and how he was created to bring joy to people. He gets out and tries to talk to Pac-Man, but Pac-Man bites his arm off, and his creator starts screaming for the others to destroy him. That scene just felt like a big middle finger to people who love video games, as well as people who make video games. Maybe it just made me angry because the creator reminded me of Iwata, the way he was talking about how video games should bring joy to people. But that scene was the worst part of the whole movie imo.

"No one in the military knows how to play videogames" This line is such an epic fail considering the very first videogame was a missile launch simulator USED BY THE GOVERNMENT!

Over 7 years later, and to this day, the delivery of “I’m funny ‘cause I don’t make you laugh” at 14:01 combined with the image of Olaf stroking his carrot nose makes me die of laughter

I didn’t realize why the futurama joke was presented by an elephant until I realized it was a literal representation of the elephant in the room, and that’s actually a really good way to present that.

I think it was more because they took advantage of gaming culture to pander to the "gamers". It was trying to appeal to nostalgia. It was disgusting pandering. The guy drooling over the hot character is just fucking insulting. It used "in jokes" that it had no business using.

If you want Adam Sandler to evolve his craft, put effort back in. Here's what you do people. DON'T SUPPORT OR GO SEE ANY OF HIS RECENT FILMS. Or at the very least, don't go and support any of his Happy Madison shit. Sandler doesn't give two shits what critics or people in general say about his movies. As long as his film can make it's money back he won't give a shit, since you paid to go see it. When his movies start to fail to bring in the cash, then and only then will Sandler maybe change his ways.

I gotta say; While I really enjoyed this movie, I can't deny that this is some pretty fair criticism!

1:17 well we can throw Hubie Halloween into those categories, right down to Julie Bowen being in it.

You know what would have improved the plot by 200%? Instead of the good ol' Nice Guy™ is a loser but because he's such a Nice Guy™, his "silly" skill saves the world and gets him the girl, the set-up from Hook, somewhat tweaked. Think about it. A normal, average family father. Nice enough, leads a satisfying life with a desk job, not very exciting, but the family doesn't struggle. No adventure, clear rules that work. Nags the children because they play "stupid video games" instead of learning or playing something of value. Then the whole alien invasion thing happens, blabla, he realizes what's going on and knows what to do because of - surprise! - the backstory of Pixels. In the end, he saves the world, loosens up, realizes "all work and no play yadda yadda", his kids admire him, he still has a desktop job but is less bored because he plays games with his family after work and once in a while online with friends. And if there needs to be romance, he can have a loser friend who actually does something heroic without being a creep and gets the girl. Moral of the story: Life moves on, people grow up, priorities might shift, but nobody is ever too old to have a "childish" hobby. That'd work. It could still have tons of 80s references but it'd be connected to the average life gamers from then lead today and most importantly: No cringy power fantasy for whiny, unfunny Nice Guys™

If anything I want Doug to do the Fantastic Four 2015 review with the actual scenes of the movie. This was still good though and funny and seeing as how I didn't see it, I am glad I didn't!

You could call Pixels Grown-Ups 3 and NO ONE would argue with you.

The most infuriating thing about Pixels is how the video game culture was displayed as a massive line between unskilled people and skilled. Santler thought we didn't know about the ghost's movement patterns! Sure, less information was speed out during the 80s, but there was A GOD DAMN BOOK ABOUT PACMAN STRATEGIES. The only thing I found funny was how they showed how Call of Duty had no strategy, because I don't like Call of Duty.

Interesting facts; the young girl that played the young Sandler's character sister is actually his daughter Sadie. Sandler's wife is also in the movie as the president's assistant as well as his nephew Jared Sandler who Sandler mocked and called Harry Potter. Finally; the grandmother with the bad yoohoo joke is not just someone off the streets. She's Lainie Kazan and been in a few things including you don't mess with the Zohan and my big fat Greek wedding.

Hopefully Wreck-it Ralph 2 will prove that Video Game movies can still work.

I guess Pixels just shows how BAD a movie about video games can get, and Wreck it Ralph shows how GOOD a movie about video games can get. Huh.
