I'm with Ricky on this one. This one goes right next to companies simultaneously boasting about record profits and being unable to give raises in these "trying times".
To be fair they are showing how much they monetarily care for them by saying however many people he said is equal to three pizzas one thing of breadsticks and some marinara sauce
Yup, I'm with Ricky on this one, you can definitely measure the appreciation of my work with financial compensation, lol. Imagine the customer paying the company in pizza for doing a great job 🤣
I've heard of people doing that before where instead of giving like some kind of tip on top of the normal payment and they'll come out and give the workers at their house some drinks or something they baked.
This transcends job types. White collar, blue collar or no collar that sounds damn right to me. I almost cried laughing imagine roscoe snorting tums 🤣 🤣 🤣
You may not be able to measure it in financial compensation, but you can sure as shit start to come close. Do you know mow many cardboard pizza's I could buy with a raise? More than 3 I can tell you that much.
Depends on the raise. I used to work for Advance Auto Parts when they bought out Carquest. Those guys once tried to give 2 guys a penny raise and one a nickel. I didn't even tell the guys. I told the boss I was done managing and wouldn't manage for them. I left for greener fields about a month or so later. So just remember that if you think just getting any raise is better than nothing. A penny raise is a whopping 20 bucks extra a year. Before taxes. If you are a 40 hour per week full time employee. A nickel is $100. That's not even worth thinking about. You can make more doing knickknacks on the side and selling online or locally.
@@umokwhy2830 Most companies never give that kind of raise. Not even close. Most companies cry about anything over 2%. The current inflation rate for the last year is over 7%. Way over. Especially if you remove the nonsense filler the government accountants throw in to purposefully skew the numbers in the governments favor. Right this second the average American is seeing about a 10-25% inflation in real world costs. That's things that matter, like food, gas, and energy bills. The average raise in America is less than 1%.
Then you have the greedy idiots that take a whole ass pizza... lunch break rolls around, it's already gone. How the hell did you eat an entire pizza *before lunch*
I remember I had a job like that where I was considered an essential working during the beginning of a pandemic. During that time I work my ass off going way above and beyond for what I thought was the benefit of the company and hopes that my efforts would be rewarded someday. When I'd learned of a position opening in upper management I put my name in the Hat with them knowing the amount of effort and dedication I had provided over the last 15 years and especially that year. When I learned I wasn't even being considered for the job I walked into work the next day clocked in and waiting for that last crucial moment when they arrived I turn to every employee individually told them how I felt clocked out and said fuck you I quit
Company loyalty doesn't get you anywhere anymore. My company fired me, my Dad who worked there 20 years, and my brother, a week before thanksgiving last year. I still don't have a new job and neither does my Dad. We went above and beyond, we were the A team of the nation, the jacks of all trades that could fix any problem. Yet they couldn't wait until January. Scummy cunts ruined a whole family's holidays and killed my Dad and myself's drive to do much at all. We worked so hard, we came home and planned all builds, talked all work all night, and proved we were champions. Some of our friends at other branches quit also when they learned we were fired. So that brings me some happiness. I'd work for them again but the commute is too far. I just wanted my career.
@@Kryynism no kidding. I worked in a pharmacy all throughout 2020 for them to let me go, at the end of my shift, on December 22nd. Next day there was a massive blizzard they all had to drive to work and home in it, and I got to sit on my couch and watch it snow.
@@iamlokittyofmeowsgard2934 I'd rather have been working my career. Stars aligned in just the right way that finally I could work with my pro Dad and learn the trade. All the higher ups wanted to talk to me, shake my hand, all gave me special treatment because I was the new blood trained by the master. It was cool and I earned the reputation quick by proving I am as awesome as what they expected.
Man, the first 7 years of my working life, they were always trying to give us Amazon and Walmart gift card incentives to hit certain metrics and whatnot. I went back for a visit (left on good terms) and saw they were doing another thing where if they hit metrics, they'd get a sub sandwich party. Like... there's literally a sub shop across the road... it's less than 100 steps away from them. If they want a sub, they'll ll get a sub.
Bruh... That is straight up insulting. I would have rather gotten nothing. Nothing wouldn't have been nearly as demoralizing than them implying your hard work was worth an extra 5$.
"We appreciate you in ways that can't be measured in financial compensation" is probably the biggest sign that it's time to find someone who can and start working for them.
Ok, I'm an RN and they do this exact fucking thing for us. Hospital administration gets raises and bonuses and private jets, the floors are lucky to get a fucking pizza for day shift and, if we're lucky, they'll leave some of the crust for nights.
Night shift is always forgotten in these sorts of things - worst part is its a solved problem. Most if not all pizza places are open to like 11 or so most weeeknights and to like 2am on Friday and Saturday. When they placed the order for day shift they could have easily ordered night shifts pizza and have it delivered. They can give your nightshift a fresh pie, rather easily too, they just dont. Whether or not thats because they're malicious, stupid or neglectful is up to you to decide.
I have a counter offer for you. We don't work another minute until you give us the raises we think we deserve, and it damn well better be well above the inflation rate.
I remember one of the jobs I worked at was a Frozen Pizza factory when we hit our quota and went over they will give us a bonus or buy food for us our manager always chose to get the food for us but he'll get the $200 to $500 bonus he kept saying a extra $30 to $60 won't really be that much for each person but the food is better for y'all we used to be mad as hell🤬
More than likely he was getting a kickback of some sort for keeping even the rewards low. There are plenty of shitty humans in management hence why I am pro union, even with all its issues.
I wouldn't be surprised if they were taking the cash bonus option for everyone, but instead of handing it out they'd spend like 15% of it to buy everyone food, and then just pocket the rest.
I worked as a Customer Service Rep for Ticketmaster at their call center (a miserable job). They showed their appreciation by having a BBQ dinner. They hired a company to come out and bring enough pulled pork for everyone to get stuffed. So many trays of BBQ.
That sent me into a rage. I threw my beer and I don’t do that shit. Spot on as always. I had to remember the safety guy is you. I was ready to meet someone at the gate!
I feel pretty lucky, my boss always talking about paying me more if I know more. So everyone in the office working and learning to bring more to the table, to each of our worth. And this guy giving us bonus checks and cash for doing certain goals.
This is the benefit of trade skill work. When you get tired of your boss's BS, you can go to the shop right down the street and make $1-3 more an hour doing the same thing. More often than not they end up offering you that raise when you're getting ready to leave. Some take it because they already know the job, others risk it at a new company making more money in the hopes that the NEW employer will have their head out of their ass and know how to retain skilled employees. Havent found one that does yet, but at least im making more money.
At my old job they loved to order pizzas about 3 or 4 times a year. Always pepperoni or the ones with all meat. I remember after a few times I asked if they could order a few veggie pizzas with it. At first they didn't want to stating they would go to waste as no one wanted a pizza without meat. I offered to pay for myself one as I just couldn't eat the others. They declined me paying for it but went ahead and ordered three veggies. By the time I got to the table all three veggies had been taken. I'm still upset about it.
This was very accurate, as a bricklayer for 20 years.... the asshats in the shiny Hardcastle a polos laughing while we eat and pat themselves on the back smh...
Yep typical Union meeting, 26 guy's and when we walk into room there is a folding table with a bowl filled with mixed bite sized candy bars and a 12 pack of generic cola, I shit you not!
tell me about it ever since my local moved from a party hall that had a full kitchen and bar to a shitty strip mall meeting attendance has gone to shit. you used to be able to expect a decent meal and a few beers to listen to them bullshit
Used to work in a shop where the "Christmas bonus" was a box of donuts and coffee. One box. For like 200 people. And the coffee was what they always had made every other day already.
@@chrisbrunson9856 A lot of people were already getting it, but this was just the push for them to actually act on it. The problem is, these companies would rather go out of business than to hire people at a decent wage.
Unless I do work at church, financial compensation is about THE ONLY appreciation I'm looking for. Pizza at church... TOTALLY acceptable. Make it the WORST freaking pizza on the market. I don't care. I'm gonna HAPPILY eat that soggy mess. If it's my job I'm being rewarded for extra efforts at?? CAAA$$$H!!! THAT'S how you measure appreciation...$$$$. Don't get that single topping pizza and then drag salad off the cafeteria salad bar up to the units to make it look like you went extra during Nurse's Week. We're on to you guys in administration. 🧐🤨
@@thefutureisnowoldman7653 uhm ... disrespectful much??? I'm not Catholic or anything else with priests. If you weren't a heathen, you would know church people do things like volunteer with the kids for Wednesday evening services, Vacation Bible School, etc. Why not crawl back under that ugly little rock from whence you came? Buh bye now.
All 78 members of the crew, some may say... Well, some might say, their hearts shriveled up two sizes that day. But others say, that they all put the Safety man into a coma that lasts even to this day!
So I'm a manager of an auto parts store and I get food for the guys and gals and we always have left over food PLUS I give them raises. It's very important to keep good employees.
That’s just like my boss ! There’s 4 of us here’s 20 bucks go get yourselves some sandwiches. I don’t know about you guys but I get a ham and Swiss on white with mayo and mustard and a Mountain Dew you guys got 4 bucks left. Thank god he always handed me the 20! Guys just want to let you know this is Long Island not fantasy Island.
Yes, this is what everyone wants. Raises, not BS "parties." Not pats on the back. Thank us with MONEY. I am a geotech engineer, and my wife is a teacher. We all deal with this crap too.
It's great walking into a meeting knowing I've got someone on my side. I have a backbone but with the union I also have power. BTW in situations like this where it is a collective situation is where unions truly shine. So thank fuck and God for unions
@@toowoombaangel I have power by being skilled at what I do, and knowing the company couldn't replace me at the drop of a hat. A union is for those who lack a backbone, or do not provide sufficient value based off their own merit.
I worked through lockdown in the UK in a supermarket so yea I feel this fooking insult everyone else got furlow I got taxed the shit out of and ended up taking home the same as before
"We're a family. You deserve pizza!" No. I'll take a raise every time. Hell, I'll take the boss just walking up to me and handing me a $20. That means a lot more to me than free pizza.
We had a guy drain the oil out of a concrete mixer after they told him his yearly bonus was a pizza party. I've seen people walk out of a construction zone and deliberately move cones to block off areas over a pizza party. A raise is the best option.
This is starting to happen at every job now. Last year the company i work for made 5 million, its a small company by the way. Less than 100 employees and there’s only two owners. Everyone’s been requesting a raise as of recently and they’ve been denying it. Meanwhile both the owners bought 500 thousand dollar sports cars.
I'm definitely with Ricky on this one, what's the absolute kicker is that I got a domino's pizza commercial right after this. YT has no idea how the working class is.
"I'm not speakin for everybody here" Nope, just everybody below manager or supervisor status that puts up with top-down abuse, shitty work conditions, and insane work schedules that never try to accomodate workers. Tolerating all that at-or-near minimum wage deserves more than just the cheapest selection of heartburn-inducing trash food 3-4 times a year.
"We appreciate you in ways that cannot be measured in financial compensation" Ah yes, corporate speak for "work for very little money and LIKE IT, because we need another solid gold private helicopter"
I think this pandemic has taught people the importance of multiple streams of income, unfortunately having a job doesn't mean security rather having different investments is the real deal.
You're right, but i will advice everybody who is into cryptos to Stick with ETH and BTC as much as you can. everyone sells when it starts to fall, which some points it will, the dream may be lost because it being too volatile for companies to get behind..
Most people think.... Investing in crypto is all about buying coins and holding, till it rises, 🙅 come on it takes much analysis to be a successful crypto trader.I've made $16,000 in two weeks of trade.
If I work my ass off for 50+ hours a week I shouldn’t need a second income to live. Fuck the pizza and give me a raise. Oh and you might want to know in construction right now there are so many places hiring ppl ain’t taking low hall offers any more. I was a rob buster and they couldn’t keep enough guys and the boss would bitch about it constantly but when I said maybe give these boys more than 14 an hour and you’ll get some help that will stay long enough to become good at it.
Sad part is some unions are terrible and just take dues, worked at two union places, one was high wages with shitty working conditions the other was great working conditions but terrible wages 🤷♂️
@@quickshot4050 Every union job I worked was better than any of the non-union ones. And I have worked in the private manufacturing sector, for government and in construction.
In the 11 years at my job, they have never once bought us even bad pizza. We do 24/7 operations so holidays and weekends are a must. A bad pizza would be a lot more than we've gotten.
Damn near every job I've had had been exactly like this. "Oh, well, there's no money in the buget for raises across the board this year.." etc, etc. But here's some cardboard pizza from the worst place in town to show our 'appreciation '. Spot on, 100%. But you can bet management gonna get theirs.
My work took a poll about what we wanted for Employee Appreciation Day. First, send the email in the morning not at 5:30pm when the office is closed. But I told one person, it’s like asking someone what cake they want for their “surprise” birthday party and then showing up with a half dozen grocery store vanilla cupcakes. We ended up with a TY video.
when i was trying to get a raise mid pandemic i was told that i would be evaluated on my performance.!after a while i was told that no raises were being given due to a hiring freeze idk how it correlates but then a whole crew of carpenters got hired, i was a helper lvl 2 i jus wanted lvl 3 pay. needless to say i fucked off a lot and missed days when they’d give some special lunch and shit . once they said lay offs were coming i had to ask for it.
I can understand this completely, I work for a Honda supply company that thinks pizza or catering from the same place that stocks our vending machines is compensation for busting your ass working 12 hrs a day, 7 days a week makes up for not getting a raise but yet they keep hiring people in at higher starting pay while keeping our pay the same
I had a job similar to that. Worked there for 9 years, at the end I was asked to train new hires starting out above my pay, because of college degrees, got sick of it, told the supervisor they could go though the same process I did, figure it out on my own, and was let go not to long afterwards. Then the pandemic hit and I am super glad I was out of a factory.
My old warehouse did this but instead it was hotdogs that were from a giant bag that had been in the breakrooms freezer for months and they just heated them up in hot water. Me and a few other employees got a few of the hotdogs and made sure the manager saw us as we walked over to the garbage and threw them in. It was absolutely disgusting cause they kept telling us how much money they were making while we had to work 2-3 hours overtime daily. The office staff all got stuff from Olive Garden while we got water heated hotdogs.
I quit a job over a pizza party once. I wasn't the only one. 3/4 of shipping and receiving walked out too. We were promised a Christmas bonus and that bonus was that pizza party. We had been working 7 days a week for the 4 months leading up to Christmas and were scheduled for Christmas Eve too. When they called us into the conference room and announced that the Christmas bonus would be pizza and that "everyone would be getting the same bonus" we walked. Word spread and they had almost half their day shift step out. It only took 2 days before they called us all back and we got a real bonus. Pretty much everybody but the temps walked that day.
On a bit of a different topic one I absolutely identify with this video also do a video about when your promise to raise and then that time comes and they come up with excuses about why they can't give you a raise
we used to get beer at the work parties but then some asshole had to do a burnout out the gate and roll his truck over in the ditch directly outside the gate getting a dui
Well, we all know who's going to be last in the porta john after taco Tuesday, and even more unfortunately, Roscoe's gonna forget his driving glasses and accidentally knock the porta john over with his truck.
My last job would do this crap as well. The worst one, and that's when I should have quit, was when we didn't get our $25 dollar gift card for Thanksgiving to help buy a turkey because that was tradition for them to buy a turkey for their workers every year. Well Christmas time rolls around and we are all at the Christmas party, the last one they threw for us by the way, and guess what our Christmas bonus was. Yep, the $25 Thanksgiving card INCLUDING the have a Happy Thanksgiving letter attached to it. I finished my drink and immediately walked out.
My work made a big deal about having a pizza party, all week it's all they talked about. Come in kinda low key excited about it, only to find a few boxes of half eaten little ceasars.
@@foodhatesme you get that being in a union you get to help make those decisions, and you get strength on your side at that table. What the heck is America teaching y'all about unions
@@toowoombaangel I can negotiate pay, raises, and time off without the need of a union. People who require a union to have power at the negotiation table had little to nothing to offer on their own.
This is currently, literally what is happening at Kohl's right now. Just replace the construction with retail. Kohl's has not raised the starting wages from $10 an hour and no one that attempts to get a job will take one.
"Does everybody understand what's about to go down?" Two months later. "Man we just had another guy put in his notice and nobody is responding to the adds or showing up at the job fair. I don't know what could possibly be causing this."
I worked in 2 different factories for a while and that's the way it was. If we were so important, why were we working 6 and 7 days a week when most of have families. Yeah they pay you a wage but it isn't worth what you missed at home. And, a damn pizza party to show their appreciation was just offensive.
When I worked fastfood for 7yrs: I worked for an owner (first 3 years) whose only two franchises made only so much money (i checked her annual on both stores, they were barely in the green half the time), She may have not been able to give raises but she threw massive monthly parties for us and had multiple holiday dinner reservations for all of us on her staff and crew. I wouldn't get a raise, but at least she dumped time and effort for SOMETHING fun for all of us every-so-often. I will say that also after working with the new owner for the other 4, all we got on birthdays and holidays and as monthly "appreciation" were coupons and free meals. At that point we were all at least thinking "just give us a raise, hell even the managers that work for you make less than the average mcdonald's manager even your GMs make less than the average". Fuck we got 50% discount anyway so WTF?! Some people (mostly managers) asked for raises then quit when ultimately denied including any sort of compensation for the shit they go through with a handful of lazy employees they gotta deal with regularly and insanely rude customers. We lost some good crew when this kind of stuff happened with the new owner because not even managers had upward mobility under the new ownership where as they did under the old.
Believe me, I had one of those employee appreciation pizza luncheon a few years back; the pizza was fucking terrible that I didn't even bother getting another slice, it for some reason almost made me throw up.
That 3 pizzas stance is a pretty brave choice standing in a room full of hard-working men with access to blunt instruments, power tools, and digging equipment that can be used to bury a body extra-deep. Just saying.
If you put out for work and they won't give you a raise at the end or beginning of the year then repeat after me, "I quit and I'm not apologetic about not giving you notice but I've received a better job offer at a less toxic workplace.".
