Its still quite early for you at this stage, I am actually in the process of making a video for how you can study for PLAB exam. But i believe at this stage , just focus on developing a strong foundation in the core medical subjects , anatomy, physiology , pharma etc. Coz as you come to your latter years it will help you in your clinical which will then help you crack all these medical licensing exams

Should we take IELTS academic or IELTS FOR UKVI before PLAB? if we take IELTS academic do we need to take IELTS FOR UKVI during GMC registration??
@drmonishamishra
@drmonishamishra 3 года назад
Yes, to the second question. Hence, I would suggest taking IELTS UKVI in the first place itself. So, you save money and have less stress of giving IELTS again. Though if you choose to give academic and it has a 2 year expiry. So, if you have to then give UKVI ILETS for Tier 2 visa you need very low score as your IELTS academic hasn’t expired. If that makes sense

@gloriaalva8781
@gloriaalva8781 2 года назад
Hello. That was a very pertinent question you asked. Even though clearing the exams is the best, however if one is unable to clear exam due to personal circumstance such as family committments etc. You will still get NHS jobs and contracts so the answer to that is: you will not be jobless, there will always be something if you are happy working at non consultant level. You can have some degree of progression but you will not be a consultant without the exams and without having undergone training.

Could you also talk about the visa & permanent residence. Why do people say that they are forced to leave uk and return back to home country after finishing few years as a practitioner.
@drmonishamishra
@drmonishamishra 3 года назад
Lol this is a first. I have never heard anyone say this. I want to make a proper video on it when I go through the process myself. All the information for now can be found on www.gov.uk website. In a gist, you need to be living in the country for 5 years (if on tier2 visa) then apply for ILR and then British passport if that’s what you would like to do long term. Simple and straight forward.
@victorJ2050
@victorJ2050 3 года назад
Why would NHS UK train you for years with all those expenses just to kick you out after training? If you stay for 5 years without gap in your visa, you can apply for ILR.
@gloriaalva8781
@gloriaalva8781 2 года назад
Dear Reethu. Whoever gave this information has been right. There was a phase in 2005 and 2006 when many doctors could not get jobs because the Home Office changed its rules. Those days it used to be called HSMP visa and they had to go back. It should not happen again. Because after finishing 5 years you would get PR. So your best bet is to be in training. Worst come Worse even if the Home Office rules changes, Deaneries are independent of it and once you are in training , the training cannot be discontinued. There is a risk in a contractual non training job. For example if one got a 3 yrs job contract and after that it is not extended, you can change the job, do the rest of 2 years and complete 5 years and get PR. Best Wishes to you.

@gloriaalva8781
@gloriaalva8781 2 года назад
Dear Fabi. You will not be overqualified for the job at all. It actually works in your favour because you would be knowing more, knowledge wise, than a person who is straight out of medical school. For example- if you did the arterial bloods - ABG- and you have done MD medicine, you are likely to interpret it better than FY2. But that's not to mean that someone should come to know UK only after MD/MS. It all depends on your priorities and life's circumstances and you may find yourself doing better than an MD medicine person - who knows.

Simply go to America, my colleagues who even failed to do any fellowships in America are far better financially.With family towards hard working in your life you value your CV against money. Dude what and how much do you eat? All your salary disappears from hand to mouth. Jokes apart, yes US pays more than UK. But is that the only measure of a balanced life? I find UK to have a bit of socialist approach. Where US is capitalist. I will be honest I chose UK over USA because it was easier to get a job, lesser expenses and time for the whole process and quicker entry to a training program. Some of my friends way more smarter than me passed USMLE but failed to get a training program. It all depends what your ambition in life is and how much money is important to you. UK can provide a comfortable balanced life if you are smart enough.
