credit if you post it somewhere or even, if you want, make a lil note just for you in your bujo crediting whose theme you tried to copy. I like that because when I look back years later I can remember who it was that inspired me. Also if you credit where credit is due, nobody will mind about you being inspired and copying a theme, on the contrary, I feel like it's an honour
I feel like watching Amanda come up with these ideas is so cool, because it really just show how creative she can be with the setups. I personally couldn't think of ideas like these- or maybe I could???
@@sanji4ever exactly, cause i can come up with some nice ideas if i try, but when i need to put them onto paper, i just don't know where to start or the steps to get there.
if you want to train yourself to be more creative, try getting up prompt list or word generators when you have free time and just make a page based around the word/prompt you get! over time it’ll help you get better at relating words to ideas. looking through random pinterest boards that arent your style helps too, even if nothing in them is something you like you’re still expanding your knowledge of possibilities and, hey! you may surprise yourself with what you end up finding cool :)
for anyone wanting to recreate the prints, but not wanting or having the supplies to use the method amanda did, what i’m doing is just making stencils out of paper. I think i’ll just use the stencils i made as a stamp with black ink, and then color in the out and inside different colors with markers. When you cut them, by using the tip of the scissor, you get geometric lines that you can make vary in thickness. i’m also probably going to draw on the black lines created from missing spots on the linoleum just with a black pen :)
Funny considering a great deal of artists were also engineers! I definitely agree with you, I hope there’ll be more art history snippets in the future!
I was just binge watching your videos earlier before taking a shower, I’ve been sick for a couple days now and your videos are so healing. My goals for November is to stop caring about what others think, be patient with myself and drawing more!
i love to watch Amanda doing art, especially when it’s with new materials, it doesn’t have to be for the bujo, but when it IS for the bujo… chef’s kiss 🧑🏻🍳😘👌
A comment on improving safety - it's easier to carve out stamps from a big block of rubber and cut the stamp base out of it after finishing. It is also safer to have something on the table that restrains the block in the opposite direction to where you're leaning/applying pressure (like a blocked piece of wood). Then you don't have to do that with your hand. When I do it at home I block a kitchen cutting board between the stamp rubber and a wall so my hands are never on the way of my blade 👍
I love how Amanda shows her creative process here. Like she does it in all her videos, but this one in particular is rlly real, not only with the print, but at around 21:00 when she was making the habit trackers, she decided she wanted to change the headers, but then it smudged but eventually she figured out a way around it, and I love it so much bc it reminds me of my own creative process, where I sometimes wing things and things go wrong and then I manage to find a solution for it
I love watching Amanda doing different writings, drawing cute stuffs or anything, and doing a bullet journal, planners and more. Love your videos and it makes more inspiration to do more things like you always do in the videos.
I love my 2021 Doodle Planner so much! I really enjoyed coloring, decorating, and filling in the spreads. This planner has so many things documented in it, I will never be able to let it go, it's my baby. Thank you, Amanda, for designing such an amazing planner and putting so much effort and time into it.
I think this is my favorite video. I love the art history lesson and the lesson on how to do linoleum stamps. As well as the references of who you are pulling your ideas from
My goal for this month is to put my mental health and physical health as a priority, eating healthy, talking to friends, exercising and doing something creative everyday
Not only is this theme BEAUTIFUL and makes me so happy to look at with the bold colors! But also I looooved seeing your behind the scenes art process and learning something about art history that I otherwise might have never know 😁❤️ thanks Amanda!!!
My favorite so far! And I mean, my favorite in all these years! As someone who went to Carnegie Mellon (where Andy Warhol went, too) and someone who LOVES Pittsburgh and has been to the Andy Warhol museum multiple times, this made me so nostalgic! Thank you, Amanda!
filling in the colours after taking the print was done before as well. and it is still a technique used sometime. so ya you are still within the printmaking realm. so is using multiple different print cutouts to make a single artwork, goes a little into the mixed media side, but still there! your whole setup is pure printmaking! source: degrees in fine arts and art history! (i am posting this here not as a validation of Amanda's work, she's amazing she doesn't need anyone's validation, but since she took time and energy to actually show everyone what printmaking is and explained things so nicely and softly, i felt like i should leave this here. love your works Amanda!)
Hi! I don’t think I realized how much I actually missed your videos. I’ve haven’t been drawing in my bullet journal for very long, my mental state haven’t really been good lately. So along with that I stopped watching your videos. But today I saw this video on my feed I was like “sure let’s just check it out” yk. Then I realized that I actually have missed your videos, u helper me today, to do stuff and start drawing again. Thank you for inspiring so many people! Love to Amanda❤️
I LOVE this idea. The end result is amazing. I am not an artist so I've never been exposed to this way of creating art. WOW! Thank you for taking the time to share your passion and abilities.
This is amazing. The stamps really make it look like the background was black and you put the color on top. Reminds me a lot of a local artist, Ben Mann. He loves playing with contrast by adding bright colors on top of black paper. using the negative space as the defining lines. He came to my elementary school and taught my class how to paint like him when I was a kid 🥰
My fave set up EVER! Would love to see you use some cutouts - like print them on the bright paper and cut the shapes out to make more of a collage style. Also, you can use paper to block out parts of the stamp where it might overlap. Dying to see some patterned paper integrated, too! So many options. One note about Pop Art that I always tell my students is that printmaking as a medium is so perfectly representative of the movement. Warhol was commenting on the idea of commodity - both in products and celebrities. And commodity is about making multiples, which is exactly what printmaking is about!
Amanda you are the bullet journaling queen ! I didn’t have a bullet journal this year but luckily you inspired me to have one next year in 2022 ! I love this spread that you have done ,it really brings in the colour ! You are by-far my fav bullet journalling you tuber ever ! ❤️❤️
I kind of rarely bullet journal but watching your video is so satisfying and relaxing I get so excited seeing a notification that "Ooh Amanda posted another video yay" Really love your videos
Hey Amanda!!! I love that you tried this new medium! I loved taking printmaking classes in high school and college. And just so you know for future reference, you actually wouldn’t need to make multiples of the same stamp! There’s a method called “reduction printmaking” where you would simply layer the different colors and carve between each layer. It makes it a lot easier than making multiple stamps! Great job as always 💖
Yes, more art history and vlogginess please! You’d probably like the documentary The Rules of Abstraction with Matthew Collings. It’s here on RU-vid. I also was starting to consider making some stamps, so this was brilliant timing. ☺️
Love the setup!! We did this in school as well and you don't necessarily need to make three different stamps of the same motif (I actually can't imagine that it will turn out exactly the same each time). You can carve out the bit that you want in a specific colour, apply the colour and use the stamp. After that you carve out the next layer of colour and stamp that onto the same paper (it's hard to use the stamp on the exact same spot so the picture might be a little shifted, but I think it looks cool). And repeat this step for all of your colours until there is nearly nothing left to carve out of the linoleum.
I remember doing lino prints in high school art classes! It was quite difficult especially when u layer two or three ink colours! But it was very therapeutic to do. Love this month's spread!!
omg I'm not one for bold colors usually, but I think this might be my favorite setup for the year?? I never thought of Andy Warhol as a bujo inspiration, I'm floored, it looks so good!!
One of the best journal setups that you've ever made. I did like the behind the scenes of the stamp making process. I feel that you should do a behind the scenes more often in you videos.
I remember doing those stamps in art class in middle school and I LOVED it. It was one of my favorite projects. I should do them again... Thanks for reminding me of them.
I usually do monthly set-ups related to different shows/games/book series/etc. but this month I’ll make an exception since I’m craving to go to an art museum, and looked at Andy Warhol’s work recently in my art class. Thank you, Amanda for giving me the idea :3 ❤️
Amazing! What a great, fun, colourful theme! I loved seeing the process, especially as you were working with a new material. I did also use it in high school once and it was so much fun. Also makes it more easy to follow if you show the process and how you get to your idea.
I think this is my favourite theme I've seen you do so far! And I loved all the process and history you included, this video was a great and inspiring way to start my week!
Oh my goodness, this is so cute! I can’t believe it’s already almost November! Time flies. Also, good luck with the new doodle planner, Amanda! You got this 😉
In elementary school we did a print like this but with a Styrofoam Matt and we carved out the lines with putting pressure on a pencil - that was really fun - I liked it a lot too - these stamps look really cool Amanda
I lovedd this months setup!! I love watching the process and listening to you speak on the history to the subject you took inspiration to for the month. It's respectful how you teach your viewers about the history and pay homage to the history/originator, not only do I love learning a thing or two from your vids it makes the set up speak to the viewers more bc we have more of an indepth insight to the art/set up and appreciation for the artist/history. Ive learned alot from your videos and it always inspires me to learn more on each subject.
I love seeing you doing those linoleum stamps! This is really something different and I love technical art stuff a lot! I did linoleum back in school too and I was just talking about it with my boyfriend. Now I'm kinda in the mood of working with this too. Beautiful design! Really something different
this is such a fun theme !! i loved the art history and the style of this video as well, i love seeing how you’re changing up your style recently and i can’t wait to see how you keep growing 🥺💓
This is a great spread. It was very interesting to watch you make the stamps and talk about the inspiration and references you were making. Pretty cool!
you're always so creative!! been watching you setup for years and you are always coming out with new ideas >< aint a normal human can be that creative! keep going amanda!
To everybody here that can't get linoleum, on college we use an alternative way to make "stamps" or for "print". Do the extact same thing of negative space, but use Eva foam. You cut the contourn of what you want an then paste it in a firm surface, put ink and TA-DAAAAAA
This was surprisingly fun to see you make! I love that this kind of art encourages more freedom in art. And that you don't have to be perfect. My goal next month is to drink more water. I even invested in a larger water bottle with motivational quotes on the side, and it even comes with a fruit infuser, to help motivate me to drink more water. Most of my health issues is due to feeling dehydrated, so hydrating is definitely my goal! I'd like to drink at least 5 cups a day for starters.
I've been watching a bunch of your spreads (even if I generally end up doing basic spreads) and I have to say this is one of the videos I've been liking the most. I love the fact that you shared the creative aspect and the mistakes you've made. It makes it even more authentic than usual. Good game !
