I just need to say that I'm an ESL teacher at a return student middle school (students who have lived abroad and now are back) in Korea, and because I'm such a disorganized person I live vicariously through your videos. Your organizational abilities is just insane! Also thanks for so many ideas, because I'm working with middle schoolers in an ESL environment I get so many ideas from your videos even though they are aimed at elementary school!
Bridget, for the word "predict", you could also teach your kids the Latin stem "dict", which means "to say". So, "predict" means to stop and say something about what you're reading before you continue to read. 😊 I love Word Study! I've been teaching it for 14 years and even took a graduate class.

I love your word study lesson.Sub plans are very time consuming. I try if at all possible not to plan the day before i am out. I do however put it all together the day before I am out. Learn a lot on your trip. Can't wait to hear what you share.

Listening to your thoughts on sub prep...makes me wonder if you have a screen in your classroom...wouldn't it be great if you could teach intros to the material by video and then have the sub oversee it and answer questions. Hello Bridget, I'm a first year Kinder teacher and by far my experience has been interesting to say the least. Lol. I began in the middle of the school year, and combined with being a first Year teacher my school also does IB (college prep) curriculum so I'm literally "staying afloat." I've got a general question... what do you do during the summer? I'm looking for ways to maximize the time off and Continue gaining experience. I thought about tutoring or maybe working summer camp but I'd like to investigate all my options and know some great ideas for teachers over the summer.
