I own both Dimarzio and SD. Honestly, I don't think they have anything over the planet tone. You are nailing advertisement for these pickups. Well done.
I'm so Glad you turned me on to Jose, and PLANET TONE. my TREMONTI SE never sounded so good!! And my Preformer Strat, man I dont like the Yosemite pickups, $1300, American made guitar that I never picked up.. until now!! Got a loaded with EVERYTHING, lol TBX, 7 Way switching, now I pick it up Everyday!! Waiting patiently on my humbucker sized P90's. They are going into my PRS S2 STANDARD, its gonna be my ideal SG lol. These pickups are worth the wait!!! Hey what guitar was Mark Farner in 72. I was watching a RU-vid video, it looks like a melody maker, with this crazy pickgaurd, and long headstock. Ok great vid!! Keep'em coming Sir!!
These sound terrific! Especially, for the price!!! Getting a pair of these and something for the Strats and Teles… Great video Lucas! Know, if we could see more of ya’! Best to you brother! 🔥
Thanks for the compliment! I'm trying to post more videos, but RU-vid isn't lucrative enough for me to give up my guitar repair business, which eats a lot of my time. At least not without compromising my refusal to do clickbait and act like a tool :P
@@LucasFowler try maybe just putting a few cameras around your repair shop so we can see what you're doing....then edit them later if something interesting happened that day or a particular guitar or issue...🤷♂️
Thanks for the review. I ordered an HSS loaded pickguard with this humbucker and the supremacy single coils from Planet Tone. Can’t wait to try it out.
Love that neck pickup Lucas: soooo smooth and mellow... the bridge in drive rocks too, particularly in split mode. You should ask PRS to make a Lucas Fowler signature guitar with these appointments ! The pickguard and trussrod cover look great :)
@@LucasFowler Don't laugh: look at Vernon Reid's signature model: it all started with a joke ! Get your vid to Paul and let him know you'll be satisfied with a 35% royalty fee... ;-)
Wish you would do more with the tone control when you demo these pickups. If you use a .010-.015 MFD range cap… you will fall in love with it even more. The value I stated acts like a mid-treble shift or partially cocked wah wah and retains articulation and all the way off sounds like a piezo electric acoustic…. Try that value of tone cap with vintage instead of modern wiring… just don’t forget to use your tone control while demoing… you have me sold on these pickups.
I have Alnico II Legacy's in a couple of my guitars and man can they do any and every style. I can use them in a Fusion, Prog or R&B / Funk setting and they sound great all night long.
Love the guitar and the tones! I would love to hear you run a cheap guitar with cheap pickups through the same rig to see how that sounds as a comparison. Great playing as always. God bless and rock on 😎👍🎸
The rig does do most of the heavy lifting, the pickups for me are about my connection to the sound. They help me do harmonic things and kind of enhance subtleties. The clarity-factor is really important to me too :)
The pickups sound sweet Lucas and that guitar looks great too! I loved the split sounds and the medium gain settings with both humbucking and split options. Did you get demonetized? The riff was pretty spot on :-D
Ok let me answer those: 1. The pickguard with 2 humbuckers was custom cut by Pickguard Planet. I had them make me one in plain white, then I put Pinoneer Woman contact paper on top for the pattern. 2. I did have to make the neck cavity bigger, because Pickguard Planet put the neck humbucker a little closer to the bridge. The guitar is actually routed for a full neck humbucker, if you use the "bottom" of the Type D route as a guide for the "bottom" of the humbucker cut.
I had that(and several other PRS pickguards) made for me by Pickguard Planet. It's a little pricey compared to buying a stock guard but it's worth it to have exactly what you want.
I'm going to put them in my Charvel San dimas Pro mod I think as long as it don't sound to bright . It already has the hard maple Fender neck even this it's say Charvel on the head stock as we know Wayne Charvel once worked for fender but not as a builder but as a finisher .
I had these in my Charvel San Dimas Pro-Mod for a while too! I ended up switching to some Poundcakes because I wanted something a bit more "Ed" but these sounded great too.
@@LucasFowler I here ya I was wondering how the open 57 special's would sound in the my pro mod since it's brighter then I would like with the maple fret board I'm actually looking for a Charvel roasted neck to trade for my US custom neck looking for a 9/12 radius instead of the 12/12 that's on there with the locking nut .
@@LucasFowler Did you use the 50mm or 52mm on the bridge pound cake pickup I wasn't sure I choose 50mm but haven't ordered yet cause wasnt sure which one
