I'm not an expert, I'm just some person with a garden. Thanks for visiting the Freshcutky organic gardening channel. This channel focuses on my journey, as I work to build my own cut flower farm. In the garden, I will answer some of the most common "gardening for beginners" type questions I get, including growing flowers from seed. Growing greens and planting beautiful organic food is something I'm really passionate about. Thank you for joining me as I learn to grow flowers, vegetables, and more.

Many ornamental flowers and cut flowers are TOXIC. ALWAYS do your own research and take responsibility for the plants that you introduce around your kids, pets, and everyone else. Use common sense when handling plant materials: wear gloves, always wash hands, avoid contact with face, etc. NEVER consume any plant which has not been positively identified with complete certainty to be safe and edible. Before planting anything, research to determine whether specific flowers are considered invasive where you live or if there are laws that apply to their planting in your area.

I got a bulb and pot from my grocery store. Valentines day clearanced for 0.99 . I got super lucky. Poor bulb was dry and fading quickly. Did my best to revive it and now i have a gorgeous amaryllis apple blossom :)

Hi, great video. You may want to share that those lucky enough to live in warmer climates can plant them out in the garden after blooming. They colonize fabulously! 😊🌺👍

I went to a demonstration today and the Lady told us when summer comes take your Armaryllis outside that they love the heat. She said, just keep it watered and bring it back in when it is time to put it in the dark to make it go dormant again.

Yes I put about 1 to 2 inches of river rock in the bottom of all of my amaryllis pots because it give it good drainage and put weight on the pot when it blooms. That way the pot does not tip over! 😎

Hi! I was gifted a couple of Naked Lady bulbs. One has a stalk and even flowers that are starting to bloom. I need to pot them. I have putting soil, perlite, and sand. What mixture ratios do you recommend so it drains well but remains moist enough? Thank you! BTW, I'm in Southern California, zone 10b.

I have grown amaryllis for several years and there are 3 ways that I know of to propagate. The fastest and best way I have found is by digging the bulb out and cutting it into halves or quarters being sure to get some of the root stem, the second way is to leave in the pot or ground until it reproduces baby bulbs which you dig out and separate, the third way is by collecting seed, this process takes 4-5 years to get flowering plants. I use both the first and second way to increase my stock of bulbs.

I have only four 20-inch-high LEAVES since planting a bulb last Christmas; no STALK for the BLOOM. What did I do wrong? It's October now; will the stalk appear? Will I get a flower?

I left my Amaryllis bulb in the same container I forced it in last year and allowed the roots/bulb to dry out. I am going to try to force it again even though it was never stored. I used only pebbles in the container and it worked out wonderfully! As a matter of fact, that bulb produced twice in the same season. Since I do not use soil should I fertilize the bulb?
