As a kid one of my fun jobs was to rob a little from one box to add to another when closing out the final few rows of a field location plant. Anything to avoid having to buy another bag of seed that we did not need. Unopened bags could be returned back then. A shoestring operation we were!.
Enjoyed the video. That right end seed box was empty for some time so you may have did some 3 row planting. You likely know but that is what they call a plate planter. In other words you can change the plates in the seed boxes. The plates laccommodate different seed sizes but the spacing on the plates can also indirectly affect density population as well. The plates and the ratios on the sprockets work jointly together to affect final seed spacingwithin the row. I do like how your planter does not have a gearbox. Our old 494 and 494A models that we used back in the day had gearboxes that were prone to breaking till we started drilling and tapping for a grease zert then no more problems ever. The JD manual was excellent for ours. There were even charts to calculate acreage density based on row width spacing in that manual also.
Just liked and subscribed. We grow a type of red ear indian corn. It does well in our red clay. Grows ten feet tall. I seen your Chore Master video. We have one . ours has the optinal 75 pound cast iron weight that set's above the tire.
You make me feel good I make a lot of mistakes and I have a IH 454 that is kicking the crap out of me trying to fix it and that funnel did that screw in and if so where did you buy it thanks for another great video
That funnel is probably as old as I am. I haven't seen one like it in years. Very handy though. You might try yard sales and auctions. Maybe a good old hardware store.
