Gardening is a labour of love. Keep trying different things and expect some failures. Careful with the cow manure....best not to put it in direct contact with the roots of young plants. For the durian and avocado - better to plant on mounds rather than dig holes (they need really good drainage), and make sure they are not in full hot sun for the first 6-12 months or so (protect with some shade cloth if necessary). Good luck and have fun! :)

Thank you so much for the tips! We still haven't gotten around to planting the durian and avocado trees yet so we'll definitely take your advice on those! The plan is to just grow a variety of things, only a couple trees/plants of each and see how they go. It's all a learning curve for us but we're loving it 😁🙏

For future reference break up the roots when you take it out of the pot so they can grow easier and freely into the soil 👍🏻

plant things that suits your soil mate, its nice to have a variety but its better to concentrate on things that grow well on the soil that you have, just a thought, much love from us, you guys are doing great
@NativeFarang
@NativeFarang 10 месяцев назад
Our soil is pretty good but it's all trial and error for now that's why we only buy a couple of each, we'll see what grows best. It's only for our own consumption anyway 😊 But that's true, thank you for the advice! 😁🙏

Like you I've just planted an avocado tree and also I got 2 miracle Berry Trees. My Durian trees all died as i was not here to look after them. However I will continue to plant my fruit forest. You can ask the plant vendors to sell you some start up soil it's quite cheap for a bag and gives your plant a chance to start growth. Also mulching (putting hay on top) will help the plant to retain moisture. Just my 2 cents. Keep on planting ❤ I have videos on my channel if you are interested

Great family please do yourself a favor .In my province at the government run nursery you are eligible for plants for 100 plants per year Don't put. manur e in bottom of the hole as the. gases will damage the roots

good luck with the durian, i wanted to try and grow some in surin but my partner says many thai farmers have tried and failed, they are notoriously difficult to grow in certain areas and a little easier in others all to do with the climate i think, hope you have better luck in the central area, but i think a good section is probably rthe best way to go for yourself's again these are climate dependent but i thought about coffee and chocolate and hazelnut, just look at what grows best in your area, mango and mang cut are my favourites and will try kiwi when i get there next year, remember loads of water when you plant things drench the roots cheers, Thanks for sharing
@NativeFarang
@NativeFarang 10 месяцев назад
Yeah we've read that it's very difficult to grow and different varieties do better in different locations etc. But it's all trial and error for us, just growing a couple of each fruit and see how they go and what grows best etc. It's only for our own consumption anyway not to sell so time will tell 😅 We would love to grow coffee but I think it does best at a certain height above sea level, not sure our land is right for it! Ahh thanks for the tips! 🙏

Would it make sense and would it be cost efficient in Thailand to run a sprinkler system for your trees and vegetables running off a pump .Might save a lot of watering time and make it a whole lot easier for both of you in that relentless heat .

Possibly something to look into! Once the new chicken coop is built it'll be next on our list 😅

You don't need to spend money on 🥑 plants. Just take the seed out get some tissue paper, wet it then sprinkle cinnamon powder on it place the clean seed and put in zip lock bag and leave in a dark cupboard. So easy to make new plants from the food you eat.
@8971felix
@8971felix 10 месяцев назад
Wrong. Growing avocado from seed will not give you the same taste, it could end up to be a very bad taste. You must use a branch from an existing avocado tree to propagate it.
